Corporate evaluations consist of independent exercises undertaken or commissioned by the Evaluation Office in order to assess issues that contribute to achieving the goals of the UNFPA strategic plan with regard to development effectiveness and organizational performance. In 2015 and 2016, the Evaluation Office will undertake the following exercises: Evaluation of the UNFPA support to availability of quality family planning services (2008-2014) End-line evaluation of the H4+ Joint Programme Canada and Sweden (Sida) 2011-2016 Mid-term evaluation of the Global Programme to Enhance Reproductive Health Commodity Security (GPRHCS Phase II, 2013-2020) auditor) 1 2 KEY TASKS The Evaluation Office seeks an intern to support the evaluations/ evaluative work throughout the preparatory, inception, data collection and reporting phases (depending on the current phase of the exercises when the intern commences work) under the guidance of the evaluation manager. In particular, the intern will contribute to: Documentary review including defining and analyzing the portfolio of interventions for each programme under evaluation; (ii) collecting internal documentation, including liaising with, and collecting data from UNFPA regional and country offices as well as consultation with other HQ administrative units; (iii) preparing literature review to capture external documentation; (iv) Complementing existing data sources, with the design and implementation of surveys to capture additional information. Documentation registry: set up, populate and maintain the Google drive for each evaluation throughout the evaluation process. Financial analysis: (i) Producing qualitative and quantitative analyses of, inter alia, trends in UNFPA budget and expenditure, the type of resources spent (core/non-core; earmarked/ un-earmarked), donors, and project outcomes; (ii)

Sampling: collection and analysis of key data including (yet not limited to): country background; expenditure; a series of relevant health sector indicators; human development and gender indexes, etc. for selecting country case studies (ii) prepare related briefing notes/presentations as required. Stakeholder mapping: identify key stakeholders at global and regional levels for each programme under evaluation (including contact details). Organization of field missions and the implementation of desk case studies (document collection and research); liaise with selected country offices as required. Extended desk review including design, launching and follow-up of on-line surveys. Other research and analytical support as required. Preparation of PowerPoint presentations, graphs, tables and diagrams as required. Organizing meetings including evaluation reference group meetings and taking minutes. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Post graduate academic study (student or recent graduate) in international relations, public policy, public health, gender, human rights, economics, statistics, political science or social development. Practical experience in public health, gender, human rights, or social development in middle or lower income countries will be considered an asset Experience conducting evaluations will be considered an asset Experience conducting research, data collection and analysis Knowledge of statistics and econometrics, ability to undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis of data will be considered an asset Advanced user or excel, stata, powerpoint, word and data presentation techniques Fluency in English essential. Fluency in Spanish or French considered an asset. Ability to think and work logically and work precisely with
