SmartStation ATM Installation Guide Addendum This addendum replaces pages 12-17, 20, and 34-40 of the SmartStation ISDN 384 Installation Guide (P/N 907-679-EN5.00). It also provides additional information specific to the SmartStation ATM system. Page 1 of 9
Preparing the Boards [pages 12-16] Follow the instructions on page 12 to prepare the VTEL codec board. Ignore pages 13-16, the ATM interface board is plug and play and requires no special settings. Installing the Boards [page 17] In steps 4 and 5 ignore the reference to the IMUX board and use the ATM interface board instead. Network Connection [page 20] Disregard the ISDN instructions on page 20 and perform your ATM connections at this time. Driver Installation [pages 34-35] Note: ATM functionality is available only on Windows 95 and Windows 98. Do not use the Windows NT section that begins on page 41. When your PC is turned on after the hardware has been placed into the computer, you will receive a message stating that Windows has detected new hardware. When this dialog box appears you are given two choices: install the hardware drivers at that time or perform the operation later. It is highly recommended that you install the drivers at this time. Follow these instructions for configuring this hardware to work with your system. Note: If you choose not to install the drivers at the time of initial installation, refer to Driver Troubleshooting in Appendix B of the SmartStation ISDN 384 Installation Guide. 1. If your PC manufacturer pre-installed the entire Windows 9x operating system, you will receive the following message after installing the SmartStation hardware and turning on your PC for the first time: New Hardware Found: PCI Multimedia Device. Note: If you do not receive this message, or if you know your system has Windows 95 or Windows 95a installed, the following screens and messages may vary slightly. 2. The Update Device Driver will now begin with the message This wizard will complete the installation of the PCI Multimedia Device. Insert the AppsView 5.02 CD-ROM and click Next to continue. If the AppsView CD tries to start the Setup program wait until the first screen appears then click Cancel to close the program. Page 2 of 9
3. Windows 95: Windows attempts to search the floppy drive first and then displays a message: Windows was unable to locate a driver for this device. Click the Other Locations button. Type d:\atminf into the location window (where d:\ is your CD-ROM drive) and click OK. A confirmation window appears listing the AppsView ATM 5040 driver location. Click Finish. Windows 98: Windows prompts you with the question What do you want Windows to do? Select Search for the best driver for your device and click Next. The next message you receive will be Windows will search for new device drivers in its database and on your hard drive Check CD-ROM and Specify a Location, then click Browse to navigate to your CD-ROM drive. In the Browse for Folder window double-click your CD-ROM drive, then double-click the atminf folder. Click OK then Next. A confirmation window appears. Click Next. 4. A message appears: Can t find mxvpnp.vxd. Browse again to the location you selected previously (atminf) or type in the location and click OK, then click Finish. This completes the codec board driver installation. Windows will now proceed to install the driver for the ATM interface board. 5. The Update Device Driver window appears again: This wizard will complete the installation of the FVC ATM25 VC-NIC REV 1.0. Click Next. 6. Windows 95: Windows attempts to search the floppy drive first and then displays a message: Windows was unable to locate a driver for this device. Click the Other Locations button. Type d:\atmdrvrs\fvc\vsa4000 into the location window (where d:\ is your CD-ROM drive) and click OK. Click Finish. Windows 98: Windows prompts you with the question What do you want Windows to do? Select Search for the best driver for your device and click Next. The next message you receive will be Windows will search for new device drivers in its database and on your hard drive Check CD-ROM and Specify a Location, then click Browse to navigate to your CD-ROM drive. In the Browse for Folder navigate to the CD- ROM drive then ATMDRVRS\FVC\VSA4000. Click OK then Next. A confirmation window appears. Click Next. 7. You may be prompted to insert your Windows CD-ROM. If you receive the message: The file netapi.dll on Windows CD-ROM could not be found insert the Windows CD-ROM into your CD drive and type d:\win95 (or WIN98) (where d:\ is your CD-ROM drive letter). Or, if the entire Windows operating system has been loaded onto your hard drive, navigate to that location. 8. Next, you may need to re-insert your AppsView CD-ROM again. (If the Setup program starts, wait until the first screen appears and click Cancel.) Enter d:\atmdrvrs\fvc\vsa4000 when prompted for a file location. Installation of the ATM adapter driver is now complete. Windows may display the following message if you have connected a network line into the ATM adapter card and the network server is down: This DHCP client was unable to obtain an IP network address from a DHCP server. Do you want to see future DHCP messages? You may click No. Remove the disk from the CD-ROM drive. Windows may require the computer to reboot for the new hardware settings to take effect. If prompted, choose Yes to restart your computer. Page 3 of 9
Installing AppsView [pages 35-36] Do not install AppsView at this point, as directed in the Installation Guide. Instead, wait until you are instructed to do so later in this addendum. Installing Network Protocol Services [pages 37-40] The following series of Windows 95 screens show the installation of the FVC ATM network protocol. Follow the instructions below to complete the FVC ATM network protocols. Ignore the TCP/IP instructions on pages 37-39. 9. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network. The Network screen will appear, similar to the one below: 10. Click the Add button. In the Select Network Component Type window select Protocol then click Add. Page 4 of 9
11. Insert the AppsView CD-ROM. If the Setup program begins, wait until the first screen appears and press Cancel. In the next window (shown below) click Have Disk. 12. Type d:\atmdrvrs\fvc\vsa4000 and click OK (where d:\ is your CD-ROM drive letter). 13. In the next window select FVC NETDLL MOS 16-bit service provider and click OK, then click OK again. Page 5 of 9
14. During the installation process, Windows will prompt you to insert the Windows CD-ROM. Insert the CD- ROM as requested and click OK. 15. Enter d:\win95 (or WIN98) at the prompt, substituting the correct letter for the CD-ROM drive, and click OK. 16. When prompted, click Yes to restart your computer. Installation of the ATM network protocol is now complete. Installing AppsView To install AppsView, the SmartStation videoconferencing software, follow the steps in this section. 1. Insert the AppsView CD-ROM into the PC s CD-ROM drive. 2. Click Start, then Run. If you have AutoRun enabled on your PC, the AppsView installation will begin automatically. In the Run window, type: D:\SETUP.EXE (where d:\ is your CD-ROM drive letter). 3. Follow the setup instructions as they appear on the screen. When prompted for your software Serial Number, please look on your warranty card or on your SmartStation box. The serial number will begin with the letters PC and will be followed by six numbers (e.g., PC123456). 4. Reboot your computer when prompted. If you purchased any options with your SmartStation kit (PTZ control software option, for example), go to the next section to install them. Installing AppsView Software Options To install the PTZ Controls option, follow the steps in this section. 1. Insert the option diskette into the PC s floppy drive. 2. Click Start, then Run. 3. In the Run window, type: A:\SETUP.EXE The software option will install automatically. Page 6 of 9
ATM Gateway Setup To enable AppsView to make calls to other systems through an ATM gateway, follow the steps in this section. 1. Click Start>Programs>Windows Explorer. 2. The Windows Explorer displays the current directories on the hard disk. Select and click Program Files, AppsView, Program. 3. Double-click the MGSCLNT.EXE file on the right pane of the Windows Explorer. 4. Select the Enable Access to V-Gate check box. Click Edit Address to configure your ATM gateway address: Page 7 of 9
5. Enter name and address of the ATM gateway server. If there is more than one available ATM gateway server, you may create a separate profile for each one. 6. Select a default ATM gateway server from the list and click OK: 7. Click Disable Debug Trace. This option may be left enabled to troubleshoot network problems during installation. 9. Select the maximum speed (bandwidth) allocated for WAN calls. 10. Click Save to store the settings. Page 8 of 9
Getting Started [pages 65-82] To start the software, follow these steps: 1. Click the Start>Programs>Vtel>AppsView. Refer to the SmartStation 384 ISDN Installation Guide, Chapter 7 for more detailed information.
