Nursing Career Advancement Program NCAP is a skills and career advancement program for nurses developed by Institute of Health and Management (IHM) Australia. NCAP includes inter-personal and practical skills development, and is your first step on a pathway towards becoming a specialist registered nurse. NCAP is available at HCI Learning Hubs, a learning centre for nurses that includes connected class rooms, simulation labs and an interactive learning hub. What do you need to know about this course? What is the aim of this course? The Nursing Career Advancement Program utilises the latest resources and curriculum from Australia to assist students to advance their nursing career and open new opportunities in the future. Students will learn and participate in tutorials or join a group discussion about the program or a particular area of study with other students from around the world. Nurses will improve their communication and soft skills and enhance their nursing skills and understanding of evidence based nursing care. Students then choose a specialty nursing unit and complete either a clinical placement and assessment, or they may commence the first module of the Graduate Certificate in nursing. This unit aims to provide students with the opportunity to explore and evaluate the concept of advanced nursing practice and the role of the nurse in this area. In addition the components for a model of advanced nursing practice and specialised practices will be discussed. Selected models of advanced nursing practice including Benner s model of expert practice will be examined with reference to students clinical experience or work practice. *This unit will give Recognition of prior learning for Post Graduate Certificate in Nursing How will I benefit from this course? You will be granted access to IHM e-resources & e-materials, and a range of professional development programs. You can attend workshops delivered by experienced speakers from the healthcare industry. You will receive ongoing support to enable you to make the most of blended learning. You can attend regular support sessions by local academics trained by HCI. There will be career advisors and industry partners on-hand to discuss career matters and industry issues, as per your requirements. You can upgrade your professional skills and knowledge in order to improve job prospects locally and internationally. There will be plenty of pathway options to study in Australia or participate in student exchange programs. You may join IHNA s Bridging Program to gain nursing registration in Australia, subject to your meeting the standards set by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), including English language requirements at the time of registration. You will get placement assistance for Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East and South Eastern countries. What is the course duration and how is it delivered? Face to Face: Classes run for 3 days a week. Blended delivery: 2 Weeks intensive workshop followed by online theory and concluding with 2 weeks workshop. Assessment strategies are implemented for collecting evidence and making judgements about whether competency has been achieved by the learner. The assessments confirm whether an individual can perform to the standards expected in the workplace, as expressed in the relevant endorsed unit of competency. To study online the student must have access to a computer with internet and all students must have basic computer skills. Currently registered as Registered nurses in the country of practice (must provide a current registration certificate as evidence of eligibility for registration with a nurses registration authority in country in which they originally registered).
