St. Charles Catholic School Graduate is A Life-Long Learner who Is self-motivated PARENT NEWSLETTER November 30, 2015 Welcome Back! As you all know, November 29th marked the beginning of Advent. Advent is a season of preparation. We prepare for the celebration of Christmas-Jesus Christ s first coming. But more importantly, we also prepare for Jesus Christ s second coming. St. Charles Catholic School is providing many ways to prepare. The best way is to share in the Eucharist at Mass. Our hope is that everyone is giving at least one day to God and attending Mass on Saturday evening or on Sunday. We hope that you make a renewed commitment to provide your child(ren) an opportunity to receive Eucharist during the week. Please join us for Mass every Tuesday and Thursday morning during Advent at 7:30 am. This upcoming Sunday, December 6 is our Family Mass at either 8:30 am, 10:00am or 11:30 Mass. There will be Advent craft activities in the Parish Hall after these Masses. Students who are present at Mass in their Mass uniform will receive a $5.00 discount coupon to be applied to next year s registration fees. Please remember to come out and support our school this upcoming Saturday, December 5 th as our students march in the Starlight Parade! The parade starts at 6pm. The parade will take place between H and E Street in Chula Vista on Third Avenue. Mark your calendars! A special Parent Appreciation Breakfast will be served for our school parents on Monday, December 14 th at 8:00 am. RSVP s will be sent home on Monday, December 7 th. Remember to join us for Posadas on December 15 th at 6pm at St. Charles Church. You don t want to miss out on this memorable event. Have you heard about our Shoes With Heart shoe drive??? Please see the enclosed flyer for details. Basically, we are asking you to send in your used shoe pairs. If we collect 2000 pairs, we will raise close to $1000!!!! Please support this fundraiser. It s a great way to help and a great time to clean out your closet of shoe clutter. I would like to invite all school parents to join me on Friday, December 4th for Coffee with the Principal immediately following our morning assembly. Please meet in Room 13 located in the building next to traffic pattern, for coffee and pastries. This would be a great opportunity for us to meet in a more relaxed environment.

Students will be dismissed at 12:00 on Friday, December 18 h as we begin our Christmas Break. Afternoon Extended Care will NOT be available on the 19th. Families will be charged $1.00/minute/child for students not picked up by 12:15 p.m. Please make arrangements to have your child(ren) picked up by 12:15 p.m. to avoid these extra charges. Christmas break will continue Monday, December 21st through Friday, January 1 st. School will resume on Monday, January 4, 2016 Thank you for your cooperation! God Bless, Mrs. Sylvia Benning and the St. Charles Catholic School Faculty and Staff Follow us on Twitter now.. Mission Statement Christ is the center of St. Charles Catholic School. We strive to educate and develop the whole child in an environment that focuses on sacramental life, growth in virtue, and service to others. Being good stewards of our God-given talents, we pursue academic excellence, foster a profound appreciation of the arts and sciences, and use the technological advancements of our age to progress as individuals and as a human family. This week's scripture passage: Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none. And whoever has food should do likewise. (Luke 3:11) Beatitude of the month: Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for justice: they shall have their fill.

Dear students, families, faculty &staff, Hello Spartans! In our school we are taught to be faith centered individuals that serve others as well as being respectful & merciful that help others in need. Last Spring, our school helped collect plastic bottle caps to help a Mater Dei student reach a goal. These bottle caps were taken to a recycling center in Tijuana to help out poor children with cancer. These bottle caps can help pay for treatments and help these children survive cancer. We think we should continue this charity. It will teach us to be better Catholics and to understand other people s needs. Plus it helps out the environment. This is the plan: What: We will be collecting bottle caps each month to take them to the recycling center benefiting Fundacion Castro Limon. Why: To help poor children with cancer pay for their treatments and help them survive. When: The last Friday of each month we will collect the bottle caps from each class. How: Please send in rinsed and clean, plastic bottle caps. Where: Pick up: St. Charles Catholic School. Taken to: The recycling center in Tijuana. Who: St. Charles Catholic School SPARTANS!!!! Let s do this together! Carolina & Emilio Hernandez Equihua
