WHAT IS IT? Raleigh- Wake Chapter Alumni Hall of Fame Nomination Procedures Raleigh- Wake Chapter of The National Alumni Association of Shaw University, Inc. is the sponsor for the Raleigh- Wake Chapter Alumni Hall of Fame. This event recognizes Raleigh- Wake Chapter Alumni and community leaders for their outstanding contributions in the areas of leadership, community services, volunteerism, professional involvement and achievement. Recipients are recognized annually during the Scholarship/Hall of Fame Banquet. At least three to four community leaders or other categories, not from Raleigh- Wake Chapter membership, will be selected annually and recognized based upon their outstanding contributions to their profession, community, commitment to Shaw University and civic involvement. OBJECTIVE The objective of the Raleigh- Wake Alumni Chapter Hall of Fame is to annually recognize outstanding Raleigh- Wake Chapter Alumni by celebrating their noteworthy accomplishments and contributions to Shaw University, society and the nation, by recognizing community leaders, to inspire and motivate others to achieve. The Banquet will also serve as a vehicle to assist in raising funds for scholarships for talented and academically gifted Shaw University students. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE SELECTED Selection to the Raleigh- Wake Alumni Chapter Hall of Fame will be based on the following criteria: Raleigh- Wake Chapter Leadership Recognition Be a member of the Raleigh- Wake Alumni Chapter for two years Be nominated by required deadline of December 31, 2013 with submission of completed nomination form, and resume. Political and Public Service Leadership Medical Leadership Educational Leadership Arts and Entertainment Leadership o Demonstrate strong leadership through contributions to their profession, community, civic organization, church, etc., that impact individuals throughout the city, state and/or nation. o Demonstrate commitment to Shaw University o Demonstrate outstanding achievements, professional involvement REQUIREMENTS Individuals selected to be inducted in the Raleigh- Wake Alumni Hall of Fame are to be commended for their selection of this outstanding honor. Each honoree will be expected to attend the Scholarship/Hall of Fame Banquet and make a 2-3 minute acceptance speech. Honorees are encouraged to sell at least three tables (24-30 tickets) to family and friends, as well as encourage individuals and organizations to purchase ads or sponsorships in the Banquet Souvenir Program Book. Funds raised from the sell of ads and sponsorship pages are used to offset the cost of the Awards banquet and provide funding for student scholarships. Each honoree is provided two complimentary banquet tickets and reserved seating for themselves and their guests. The names of honorees selected to the Raleigh- Wake Alumni Hall of Fame will be added to a plaque that will be housed at Shaw University. All honorees are considered members of an elite group of individuals and encouraged to attend the Hall of Fame Banquet annually. Previous year Hall of Fame honorees will be recognized each year at the Scholarship Hall of Fame Banquet.
