Position Reports to Senior Business Analyst Corporate Finance Manager Company Synlait Milk Ltd Date: May 2015 Location 1028 Heslerton Road, Dunsandel, Canterbury Purpose To develop and provide leadership through high quality reporting that provides insight into the business - a key position in a rapidly growing and complex business. This role supports and reports directly into the Corporate Finance Manager. Your primary focus is to work alongside the Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst in order to help understand, improve and report on business performance. Working closely with a wide range of people across the organisation, you will help develop and deliver management reporting to best practice standards. Key Responsibilities: Manage the preparation and distribution of the monthly reporting cycle including Flash, Cost Centre Reporting, and Business Performance Reporting Lead the management of the annual budget preparation and associated reporting requirements Assist in continued development of Investor Relations reporting to stakeholders Preparation of Dashboard/Balanced Scorecards that align to the business strategy Support HR on all financial matters relating to short term plan and cost centre support Champion for Business Intelligence / Reporting Tools and system solutions for management reporting Senior Business Analyst PD May 2015 Page 1 of 7
Key Performance Areas Monthly Reporting Cycle Manage the preparation of the monthly management reporting cycle. This includes Flash reporting, Cost Centre Report distribution, consolidation of the Business Performance Reporting ensuring that we provide a critical evaluation of business performance for month, year to date and estimated full year forecast. Work closely and develop business relationships to ensure that best practice and efficiencies are delivered. Design reports to a high standard for use by all stakeholders including; management, senior leadership, board and external stakeholders. Lead continual improvement processes with Business Intelligence Team to ensure development and delivery of reporting is best practice. Lead the design framework of management reporting to ensure consistency in reporting (including common look and feel). Investor Relations Support the Corporate Finance Manager in the preparation of the 6 monthly investor relations presentations. This will involve working closely with various teams including Finance, Marketing & Comms, and Legal. Assist in continued development of Investor Relations reporting to elevate to market leading standards. Integrate Investor Relations reporting to the relevant data sources for completeness and accuracy of information. Annual Budget Plan Facilitate the management of the annual budget cycle, developing timetables and ensuring management against this plan in line with expectations. Lead the update of reporting structures (including reporting hierarchies) and development of consolidation of cost centre budget submissions through to financial analyst. Work with wider business (including commercial managers) to ensure that reporting structures are embedded into budget templates and continue this development to support the financial analyst with rolling this into forecast methodologies. Key Performance Areas Dashboard/Balanced Scorecard Business Partnering Assist in the development and lead the management of balanced scorecard reporting. Ensure that these are kept up to date with latest strategic objectives and translated into business segmented scorecards. Review underlying data and work closely with Business Intelligence Team to help drive reporting solutions. Manage regular reporting of weekly management information (as required), working closely with key stakeholders. Lead the development of automated dashboard reporting through reporting tool. Lead the support for monthly cost centre variance analysis and commentary for HR cost centres. Lead financial modelling for resource planning (approval, budget, long range planning). Ensure we develop a system based approach to analysis and reporting for accuracy and timeliness. Lead the development of reporting linked to payroll source system to assist the wider business on cost transparency for monthly reporting cycle. Systems/Projects Assist in RFP, vendor selection and implementation with relation to reporting and performance management software solutions (as relevant). You will be the champion of reporting tool (e.g. Tableau) and assist in development of reports for management reporting purposes and executive dash-boarding. Support Corporate Finance Manager in any financial business case appraisals providing relevant information / analysis when required. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications: Tertiary qualification at a minimum is required. CA membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants NZ (or equivalent) is essential. Experience: 3-5 years plus accounting experience in corporate reporting environment with proven results in providing robust and timely analysis, support and reporting is essential. Prior use of Lawson M3 (or equivalent ERP system) would be advantageous. Experience with use of reporting tools (e.g. Tableau) is essential. Experience with system enhancement or implementation projects (e.g. performance management software) is essential. Skills: Strong ability to organise and prioritise. Excellent excel modelling and analysis skills (prior experience of building excel based financial models is advantageous). Proven ability to create dashboards and scorecards. Understand business needs, evaluate and design potential process or technical solutions. Ability to efficiently gather data from various sources for reporting and analysis. Proven ability to effectively utilise data and systems tools available. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with demonstrated reporting experience.
