This school encompasses the Creative Arts, Music, Drama, Media, Business and Computing subjects all of which offer interesting and exciting opportunities for students to progress and achieve success in their future careers. John Davidson, Head of School for Creative Industries, Computing and Business Enterprise Introduction to the course This course is broadly twofold. Firstly, it can be used to pursue employment in a legal office as a paralegal or legal secretary. Secondly, successful completion will allow you to progress to further legal study at university level. It is an excellent foundation course which will give you a good knowledge of practices and procedures, different types of law and how the legal system works. Entry requirements Applicants should have two Highers at grade C or above, preferably in English or a literature-based subject. Alternatively, applicants should have a pass in English at Intermediate 2 or National 5 level. Those who have successfully completed the NC Business course are also encouraged to apply. What subjects will I be studying? In Year 1 you will study: The Scottish Legal System Executry Law & Practice

Scottish Criminal Procedure Property LawIn Year 2 you will study: European Union: An Introduction Sheriff Court Procedures Conveyancing Company Law Assessment methods On this course you will be assessed continually throughout the year. You will also complete Graded Unit 1 and Graded Unit 2 exams, which are held towards the end of each session. Course progression Students successfully completing this course may progress towards a number of related degree programmes at one of our associate universities. University links North East Scotland College has links with 11 different universities across Scotland. Every one of our HND level courses has articulation opportunities where you can progress from your chosen course to a related university degree. This is an excellent option for those who may want to come to College at an introductory level, and then work their way towards degree level study. We use it to assist and support the delivery of our classes across all full time and many of our part time & distance learning courses. To log into Blackboard your username is your eight-digit student number (e.g. 12345678) which is also used in your NESCol email address (e.g. 12345678@nescol.ac.uk). For some forms on StudentNet you must login using your email address as the username, but this will be clearly marked where required. The password will be the default password you were issued with, or the password you have used to replace the default. BYOD and Student Helpdesk North East Scotland College has a number of computing rooms and IT services to support particular courses, however on many courses you will be encouraged to bring your own personal device, such as a laptop or tablet - we call this Bring Your Own Device or BYOD. You will be advised by College staff what the arrangements are for the course you have chosen to study.
