Dear Parent, You no doubt want to ensure that the college your son or daughter selects will help prepare him or her to succeed in a rapidly changing contemporary world. Lasell College s connected learning approach to education will equip your son or daughter with the relevant professional experience and critical thinking skills necessary to solve problems across academic disciplines. Connected learning, which permeates all academic majors at Lasell College, focuses on applying the concepts students engage in the classroom to real-world situations. This connection can occur through internships, service-learning projects or undergraduate research. Through building relationships with faculty, getting involved in Lasell s campus life and amassing meaningful internship experience, your student will establish habits of lifelong learning crucial to success, and the experience critical to pursuing his or her passions. Learning is an every day, every hour, every minute endeavor. I invite you to visit www.lasell.edu to learn more about how Lasell College will encourage your student to become a lifelong learner one who engages the world as a scholar, one who is open to experience every day. Sincerely, President Michael B. Alexander A community experience Your student will be welcomed into an active and inclusive campus community and will be empowered to forge meaningful friendships, assume leadership roles and make connections that will last a lifetime. Whether your son or daughter gets involved in one or more of Lasell s 40 student clubs and organizations, gains a lifelong professional mentor through close interaction with a professor (it s not hard to do when 100% of our classes have fewer than 30 students) or makes friends during the first year in the residence halls, he or she will thrive in Lasell s welcoming community. Connected Learning: an exceptional experience Most colleges promise that they will prepare your student to be employable upon graduation. At Lasell College, we re not interested in waiting until your child graduates to determine whether or not our education has been successful in offering career and life preparation. Through Lasell s connected learning approach to education, your student will be immersed in relevant professional experience throughout the four years at Lasell engaging the real world through service-learning, research and internship opportunities. In fact, 90 percent of Lasell College students participate in at least one internship. By providing your student with a wide range of opportunities to apply classroom concepts to real-world problems, we enable him to discover his passions, allow her to gain meaningful, hands-on experience and equip your student to lead a purposeful life. In other words, we provide the opportunity for your student to gain experience every day.

Your son or daughter might visit the Museum of Science with his or her biology class; participate in a marketing internship with the Symphony Hall; help serve the greater Boston community through a range of service-learning opportunities orchestrated by Lasell s own Center for Community Based Learning; or catch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park with some new friends. As a result of Lasell s focus on connected learning and our ideal location, Lasell College students have participated in internships with the following organizations (among many others): American Airlines Asperger s Association of New England Bank of America Boston Area Rape Crisis Center The Boston Ballet The Boston Globe The Boston Marathon Boston Victim Rights Law Center Brockton Juvenile Court Brookline High School Cambridge Mayor s Office Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Charles River Boat Company Children s Hospital Marriott Hotels MassPort MIX 104.1 New Balance Athletic Shoes New England Patriots Northwestern Mutual Pepsi Private Healthcare Systems Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital State Street Bank TD Garden U.S. Marshals Office Weymouth Elder Services WNTN 1550 Experience pays off As a result of Lasell students immersion in connected learning experiences, their close mentoring relationships with their professors and their broad-based liberal arts education, our graduates are equipped to pursue advanced degrees or immediately embark on rewarding careers. She has had a great experience and really enjoys her classes and teachers. Tami Walker, Middlebury, CT Experience Lasell College firsthand The best way for your son or daughter to experience everything that Lasell College has to offer is by scheduling a campus visit. During the visit your student will be able to tour campus, meet with faculty members, financial aid officers and athletic coaches, and speak with current students about how they experience every day at Lasell. To schedule your campus visit, call the Office of Admission at 617.243.2225, or register online at www.lasell.edu/admissions. Newton, Massachusetts, was ranked #3 on Money Magazine s list of best places to live in America. Lasell was named a great college to work for by The Chronicle of Higher Education, a designation achieved by only 97 of the 277 participating institutions. This was the second year in a row Lasell was recognized. Lasell was selected by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School for 2011, an honor that places Lasell in the top 15 percent of all schools nationwide. For more information about financial aid and the Lasell College financial aid guarantee, visit www.lasell.edu/financialaid. Family and Friends Weekend During Family and Friends Weekend, the parents and families of Lasell students are invited to campus to participate in a weekend full of activities, including home athletic events, Boston outings, live entertainment and our annual River Day festivities, which feature a competitive canoe race on the Charles River. We had concerns about a safe and secure environment while Ali was away from home, and Lasell gave us the confidence we needed. By the end of parent orientation we felt very sure our daughter would be as safe as she could possibly be. Cindy Caraccio, Glen Head, NY
