Accessing Compensation Reports To get to the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee website, enter the following URL into a Web browser: http://www.bcbst.com/ Log in to BlueAccess: **To obtain a BlueAccess User ID and Password, please register by clicking on the Register Now link. Navigate to the All Brokers tab across the center of the screen, and click on Broker Compensation : From the Broker Compensation Reports page, click on the Commission Statement link: 4
Generating Compensation Reports After clicking on the Commission Statement link, a prompt screen will display the available payment dates. Click the button beside the desired payment date and click Next : Note: The Next button will be inactive until a payment date is chosen. Only One Tax ID If you are an Agent or Broker with access to only one Tax ID for the payment date selected, you will receive the following prompt screen. To limit the report to specific entities, select individual check boxes next to the names. To run the report for all entities, click Select all under the list of names. After making selection(s), click the Submit button: 5
Note: The client type ( Group or Individual ) will be displayed next to each entity name, followed by the last 3 characters of the entity s ID. The Submit button will be inactive until at least one name is chosen. More Than One Tax ID If you are an Agent or Broker with access to more than one Tax ID for the payment date selected, you will receive an additional prompt that requires you to select a name related to a single Tax ID. Click on the button beside the desired Payee and click Next. Note: The Next button will be inactive until at least one name is chosen 6
Once you select a single Payee name, you will see the Commission Entities for the earnings. To limit the report to specific entities, select individual check boxes next to the names. To run the report for all entities, click Select all under the list of names. After making selection(s), click the Submit button: Note: The client type ( Group or Individual ) will be displayed next to each entity name, followed by the last 3 characters of the entity s ID. The Submit button will be inactive until at least one name is chosen. To switch to another Tax ID, select another Payee name and the corresponding Next button again. The Commission Entity prompt will be populated with names related to those earnings. 7
At this point, a report running message will be displayed while the reports are being generated. The reports can be cancelled at any time by clicking on Cancel : The reports will be generated in PDF format. When they are ready to be displayed, a PDF file will be downloaded to the computer running the reports. Depending on the PDF software installed on the computer, and various internet and security settings, a prompt similar to this one will be displayed: Note: Checking or un-checking the Always ask before opening this type of file option controls when and how this prompt appears for each computer. 8
The PDF report file can be viewed, then saved, and vice versa. To save the report file to the computer before viewing it, click the Save button: Choose the Save in location and the File name, and choose Save as type: Adobe Acrobat Document (or other type, depending on the PDF software installed on the computer), and click the Save button: 9
A Download Complete message will display after the file has been saved. Click Open to view the report in the location saved: To view the PDF report, with the option to save it after viewing, click the Open button: The reports will be displayed within the PDF document with different report types, as indicated by the report headings Compensation Summary Report, Commission Detail Report, Bonus Detail Report and Adjustment Detail Report. Each report type will only be generated when then there are earnings for the selected payment date. 10
The Compensation Summary Report will be the first page displayed in the PDF document, with detail reports following. The Summary Report has the following sections: Payment Summary This section shows the total amount earned and the total amount paid for each payee ID. The total paid for each ID corresponds to a payment generated by BCBST. If the total amount earned is zero or less, the total paid will be zero since no payment was generated for this ID. Furthermore, if the earned amount is less than zero, an asterisk will appear next to the amount, and the message Please remit to BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee will be displayed at the bottom of the Summary Report. Breakout Summary This section separates the total earned for each payee ID by earnings type (commission, bonus or adjustment). The total earned for each earnings type corresponds to the agency ID total on the related detail report. Compensation Summary This section groups the commissions paid by customer type (Group or Individual) and product type (Dental, Life, Medical and Vision). The section s commission total corresponds to the payee s grand total on the Commission Detail Report. The detail report pages for each payee ID can be quickly located by selecting one of the earnings type hyperlinks in the breakout summary section. The report detail pages can also be located in the same order as the links by paging through the document. 11
To go to the Commission Detail Report for one of the payee IDs, click on a Commissions link in the breakout summary section: 12
The Commission Detail Report for the Payee ID will be displayed, grouped by commission entity ID. It contains a section breaks and totals for each commission entity, and payee totals on the last page. Click on the Go to Summary link in the top left-hand corner of the report to return to the Compensation Summary Report: To go to the Bonus Detail Report for one of the payee IDs, click on a Bonuses link in the breakout summary section: 13
The first page of the Bonus Detail Report will be displayed. It contains a section break and total for each commission entity, and a payee total on the last page: Click on the Go to Summary link in the top left-hand corner of the report to return to the Compensation Summary Report: 14
To go to the Adjustment Detail Report for one of the payee IDs, click on an Adjustments link in the breakout summary section: 15
The first page of the Adjustment Detail Report will be displayed. It contains a section break and total for each commission entity, and a payee total on the last page: The PDF report can be rerun for a different payment date or different commission entities. Depending on the computer s software and settings, the report controls will either be contained in the PDF display window: or a separate blank window containing the report controls: 16
To rerun the report with different date or commission entity selections, click on the Run icon ( ) in the top right-hand corner of the window that contains the report controls: The Payment Date and Broker/Commission Entity prompt pages will each be displayed again, allowing different report criteria to be defined: 17
Make the selections desired and proceed as when first generating the reports. Close all PDF and/or report control windows when finished running the reports, unless printing or generating in Excel or CSV format. 18
PDF Saving PDF Reports after Viewing When viewing a downloaded PDF report, the method for saving the PDF file to the computer varies according to the computer s software and settings. Generally, one of three methods is available: 1. Clicking the save icon ( )in the top left-hand corner of the PDF view displayed in the Web browser s window: 2. Selecting File and then Save a copy as from the PDF window s menu bar: 3. Selecting File and then Save as from the web browser window s menu bar: 19
Choose the Save in location and the File name, and choose Save as type: Adobe Acrobat Document (or other type, depending on the PDF software installed on the computer), and click the Save button: The PDF report has now been saved in the location indicated. Close all PDF and/or report control windows when finished running the reports, unless printing or generating in Excel or CSV format. 20
Printing PDF Reports When viewing a downloaded PDF report, the method for printing the PDF file varies according to the computer s software and settings. Generally, one of two options is available: 1. Clicking on the print icon ( ) in the top left corner of the PDF view displayed in the Web browser s window: 2. Selecting File and then Print from the Web browser window s menu bar: 21
Set the print properties as needed and print the PDF reports according to the print options available on the computer. Example of Adobe PDF print properties Close all PDF and/or report control windows when finished printing the reports, unless generating in Excel or CSV format. 22
Excel Exporting Reports to Excel After the reports are run and displayed as a PDF document, they can easily be exported to Excel format. Depending on the computer s software and settings, the report controls will either be contained in the PDF display window: or a separate blank window containing the report controls: 23
To export the reports to Excel, hover over or click the View in icon ( the top right-hand corner of the window that contains the report controls: ) in Then hover over or click View Excel Options in the pop-up list that appears. Another pop-up list will appear with various Excel formats: Click on View in Excel 2007 Format or View in Excel 2002 Format, depending on the version installed on the computer. In this example, Excel 2002 is used. Note: Selecting View in Excel 2000 Single Sheet Format option will combine the differently formatted report sections into a single Excel worksheet tab. The other Excel options will separate each report section into a different tab. 24
A report running message will be displayed while the reports are being generated. Note: Choosing Save in the step above instead of Open creates a pop-up window for saving the report. Choose the Save in location and the File name, and choose Save as type Microsoft Excel Worksheet (or other type, depending on the software installed on the computer), and click the Save button. A Download Complete message will display after the file has been saved. Click Open to view the report in the location saved: After selecting Open, the Excel formatted report will be displayed in a separate window from the PDF report. Each of the four report sections will be contained in a separate Excel worksheet tab, which will be displayed at the bottom of the screen (Summary, Commission Details, Bonus Details and Adjustment Details): 26
Note: An additional blank window may also be created with inactive report controls when exporting to Excel. This window can be closed. Rerunning the report can only occur from either the report controls generated when first running the report in PDF or by closing all PDF and/or report control windows and running from the Commission Statement link on the Compensation Reports page. From the Excel report, click on the Commission Details-2 tab on the bottom of the screen to view the Commission Detail Report: The commission details are listed with no broker-level breaks or totals: 27

The adjustment details are listed with no broker-level breaks or totals: To use all of the features of Excel in the report, the report must first be saved then reopened in Excel (see next section). If not saving, printing or creating a CSV file from the Excel report, close the Excel window and report control window that was generated with it. Additional reports with different dates and commission entities can be run from the report controls displayed when first running the report in PDF format. 29
Saving Excel Reports While viewing an Excel report, the file can be saved to the computer by clicking File on the Web browser s menu: Then select Save As in the drop down list: 30
Choose the Save in location and the File name, and choose Save as type Microsoft Office Excel Workbook (or other type, depending on the software installed on the computer), and click the Save button: If not printing or creating a CSV file from the Excel report, close the Excel window and report control window that was generated with it. The saved version of the Excel report can be opened by first opening Excel: 31
This example does not represent all computers. After Excel has been opened, select File from the menu bar, then select Open : Select the report from the location saved and click Open : 32

Printing Excel Reports While viewing an Excel formatted report, the current worksheet tab can be printed by selecting File from the menu bar, then Print : Set the print properties and click OK to print the Excel worksheet page: 34
CSV (Comma Separated Values) Saving Data in a CSV File After the reports are run and displayed in Excel format, they can easily be saved as CSV format. The data can only be saved for a single Excel worksheet tab at a time, so each tab must be saved as an individual CSV file. Before saving the Excel file as CSV, select the tab that contains the desired data (Summary, Commission Details, Bonus Details or Adjustment Details): Select File from the Excel viewer window s menu bar. Then select Save As in the drop down list: 35
Choose the Save in location and the File name, and choose Save as type CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv) (or other type, depending on the software installed on the computer), and click the Save button: Click OK to save the selected tab: Click Yes to save the file without Excel features: 36
The CSV file has now been saved in the location specified. Close the Excel report window by clicking the Close icon ( ) in the top right corner of the window: A message will be displayed that indicates the report has not been saved in Excel format. Click No to discard the current Excel formatted report: If a blank window with report controls was generated when creating report in Excel, close it as well. The CSV file can be viewed in either Excel or a text editor like Notepad. The file will have the extension csv : 37
