Cellular Gateway Programming Procedure - Updated with T-Mobile Wyless Cellular Services NOTE: Perform the following only after completing regular gateway programming procedure. 1. Connect Cellular gateway to a computer using a crossover network cable provided by gateway. Open Digi Device Discovery, refresh view to update gateway list, highlight the gateway desired and Open web interface under Device Tasks menu. 2. Computer s local area connection icon on the bottom right of monitor screen will show Limited or no connection, ignore it. 3. Once Web Interface is opened, Gateway information is displayed. Ethernet MAC Address is unique to each gateway. Mobile IP Address is assigned to gateway as static IP.
4. Gateway description, contact, and location settings can be changed by going to Configuration System. DO NOT CHANGE Device ID. 5. Go to Configuration - Network Netwok Configuration, select Obtain an IP address automatically using DHCP and check box of Enable AutoIP address assignment. Click Apply button to save the changes.
6. Stay on Configuration - Network Network Configuration. Go to IP Forwarding Settings, uncheck box for Enable IP Routing (Forwarding). Click Apply button to save the changes. 7. Go to Configuration - Mobile Mobile Configuration, choose Service Provider as T- Mobile (USA), Service Plan / APN as Custom APN, type in Custom Plan Name telargo.tmobile.com. Click Apply button to save the changes.
8. Above Mobile Configuration can only be done with Gateway Firmware Version 2.16.0.3 or later. To verify and update Gateway firmware, go to Administration Update Firmware. 9. Stay on Configuration Mobile Mobile Configuration, select Automatic under Advanced Settings Mobile Band Settings, select Automatic under Mobile Carrier Settings. Click Apply button to save the changes.
10. Stay on Configuration - Mobile Mobile Configuration, under SureLink Settings Hardware Reset Thresholds, set Hard reset to 3 and Reboot the device to 30. Click Apply button to save the changes. 11. Stay on SureLink Settings, under Link Integrity Monitoring, Check box of Enable Link Integrity Monitoring using the test method selected below and choose Ping Test. Input my.idigi.com as Primary Address, and www.agrisensors.com as Secondary Address. Click on Apply button to save the changes.
12. Go to Configuration idigi idigi Configuration, check box of Enable Device-Initiated idigi Connection, input device.idigi.com as idigi Server Address, check box of Automatically reconnect to idigi after being disconnected and set time to Reconnect after 1 minute 10 seconds. Click Apply button to save the changes. 13. Stay on idigi Configuration, under Advanced Settings Mobile (Cellular) Settings, set Device Send Interval to 270 seconds, Server Send Interval to 280 seconds, and Assume connection is lost after 3 timeouts. Select TCP as Connection Method for all Cellular Gateways. Click Apply button to save the changes.
14. Stay on Advanced Settings, under Ethernet Settings, set Device Send Interval to 60 seconds, Server Send Interval to 70 seconds, and Assume connection is lost after 3 timeouts. Select TCP as Connection Method for all Cellular Gateways. Click Apply button to save the changes. 15. Go to Management Event Logging to monitor gateway activities and verify status.
16. Stay on Management, go to Connections Management, view and verify Active System Connections. 17. Go to Administration System Information, under idigi, verify static IP address under Status.
18. Stay on System Information, under Mobile, view and verify cellular status.
19. Stay on System Information, under Diagnostics, ping www.dynamax.com. 20. Go to device.idigi.com, under idigi MANAGER PRO Devices, click Add Devices, click Add Manually (cannot use Discover for cellular gateway). Click Add button to add the gateway to idigi server and click OK when done.
21. After gateway is added to idigi, right click on the gateway and select Properties. Select Mobile SIM Slot 1 to view cellular status. 22. Stay on device properties, expand System Information and select Device Info, view and verify gateway settings and versions.
23. Stay on device properties, expand Network and select Router, verify IP forwarding is disabled. Now add devices, SapIp Assign to the Gateway. Discovery scan using the Xbee Network page on IDigi. Check communication using only the cell network. Using 50 Mb limit cards, maximum is 5 SapIp, with 15 min period logging. Using 250 Mb limit cards, maximum is 25 SapIp with 15 min period logging. 24. Go to XBee Networks and view gateway and network devices information.
