1 Printer - Replacement The following is a guide on how to swap out a WIC printer with another. A scenario where this might happen is when getting a service replacement for faulty hardware from Source Technologies. The below scenarios assume that the printer is installed on the computers via a TCP/IP port and that the printer is connected to the network and using its onboard print server (connected to the local network via its network cable). Get the original printer s information The IP Address of the original printer is needed so that it can be configured on the new printer. To get this information, printer out the diagnostic sheets for the printer. On an ST9612 this is performed by pressing the continue button. One configuration sheet indicates the IP Address and will be titled Ethernet 10/100.

2 Note the IP Address. In this case, it is Configure the new printer Be sure that there is paper in the top tray of the new printer before turning it on. Assuming that you have the IP Address of the old printer, the new printer can be moved into place. After putting paper in the top tray, plugging it in, attaching it to the network, and powering it on, the network configuration sheet ( Ethernet 10/100 ) should print out. If it doesn t, the full set of diagnostics sheets will need to be printed. Once you have this Ethernet sheet, note the IP Address it has. Example below: Illustrated Steps to Accessing and Applying the Printer Settings Open a browser window on a computer that is attached to the same network. Type the IP Address that you just obtained into the URL field and press enter. Example below:

3 This will open up the printer s configuration page. Click the Settings link on the left side. Next, click the Network/Ports link on the right side. Next, click the TCP/IP link in the submenu. Next, click the Set static IP address link on the right side.

4 Type in the IP Address from the old printer into the IP Address field, and then click the Submit button. ST9712 Model WIC Printer The process for swapping in an ST9712 printer for another ST9712 printer is similar to the ST9612. The difference is in obtaining the Ethernet configuration sheet. Get the original printer s information The IP Address of the original printer is needed so that it can be configured on the new printer. To get this information, print out the diagnostic sheets for the printer. On an ST9712 this is performed by pressing and holding the continue button for 3-5 seconds then releasing. One configuration sheet indicates the IP Address and will be titled Ethernet 10T2/100T. Note the IP Address. In this case, it is

Assuming that you have the IP Address of the old printer, the new printer can be moved into place. After putting paper in the top tray, plugging it in, attaching it to the network, and switching it on, the network configuration sheet ( Ethernet 10T2/100T ) should print out. If it doesn t, the full set of diagnostics sheets will need to be printed. Once you have this Ethernet sheet, note the IP Address it has. Proceed by starting at the Illustrated Steps to Accessing and Applying the Printer Settings for configuring the ST9612 printer. The process for configuring both the ST9612 and ST9712 model printer is the same at this point.

6 ST9715 Model WIC Printer The process for swapping in a ST9715 printer is similar to the ST9612 and ST9712. The difference is the ST9715 has a front panel LCD display. Get the original printer s information The IP Address of the original printer is needed so that it can be configured on the new printer. To get this information, print out the diagnostic sheets for the printer. Refer to the above sections for ST9612 or ST9712 information on printing out the network information page, which will provide the current IP address as exampled below: Note the IP Address. Assuming that you have the IP Address of the old printer, the new printer can be moved into place. If it doesn t, you can print the network configuration sheet by completing the following steps: 1. Press the (tools) button. 2. The Admin menu will be displayed on the LCD screen. 3. Press the (arrow) button one time to go to the Reports menu.

7 4. Press the (OK) button. 5. Press the (arrow) button twice to go to the Network Setup Page menu. 6. Press the (OK) button to print out the network configuration page. Verify the IP address, and if it does not match the original printer s IP address, proceed by starting at the Illustrated Steps to Accessing and Applying the Printer Settings for configuring the ST9612 printer. The process for configuring the IP address for the ST9612, ST9712 and ST9715 model printer is the same at this point.
