AAT Qualification and Levels Visit: www.kaplanfinancial.co.uk/aat Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping: The aim of this qualification is to develop your understanding of the bookkeeping principles to advance your career in finance. In particular how to execute the principles of double entry bookkeeping and understanding journals, control accounts and a trial balance. Study it as a standalone course, or as the natural midpoint between the introductory and advanced bookkeeping qualifications. This qulification is made up of Level 2 Processing Bookkeeping Transactions (PBKT), Control Accounts, Journals and the Banking System (CJBS) and Computerised (CPAG). Level 2 Award in Computerised : The aim of this qualification is to enhance your skills using computerised accounting software. In particular how to use a computerised accounting system to enter accounting transactions, perform reconciliations, correct errors and generate a range of reports. Study it as a standalone course, or as the natural midpoint between the introductory and advanced computerised accounting qualifications. For this qualification you need to complete the Level 2 Computerised unit (CPAG). Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping and Ethics: The aim of this qualification is to provide an advanced knowledge of accounting principles and concepts. In particular preparing financial statements for sole traders and partnerships. You will gain advanced spreadsheet software skills, and understand the importance of ethics and sustainability to modern businesses. This qualification expands the skills and knowledge of experienced bookkeepers, or those who have already qualified on the introductory and/ or the intermediate AAT Bookkeeping qualifications. It can then provide a steppingstone to a career as a professional bookkeeper. Additionally it offers a progression route to the AAT Level 3 Diploma in and the AAT Level 4 Diploma in or alternatively the AAT Computerised qualifications. This qualification is made up of Level 3 Professional Ethics (PETH), Accounts Preparation (ACPR), Prepare Financial Accounts for Sole Traders and Partnerships (FSTP) and Spreadsheet Software (SDST). Level 4 Advanced Certificate in Taxation and Ethics: The aim of this qualification is to provide a specialisation for those that are interested in pursuing a career in tax. It will give students the required knowledge to prepare tax returns, calculate an organisations VAT, learn about the relevant documentation and how to prepare accurate income tax computations. If you re new to this area of accounting or if you just want a better understanding of tax then this provides the opportunity to focus on learning these key skills and gain an industryrecognised qualification to underpin your knowledge. This qualification is made up of Level 3 and Level 4 units, these inlcude Professional Ethics (PETH), Indirect Tax (ITAX), Buisness Tax (BTAX) and Personal Tax (PTAX).
