8 Programme Aims To build on the foundations of professional nursing and midwifery knowledge already developed in the undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes To facilitate the development of knowledge and clinical abilities which supports the early career development of the nurse/midwife To nurture the development of leadership skills and competence, with reference to the Department of Health and Health Services Executive (HSE) and DOH strategic planning
