Call to Order Mr. Altieri called the meeting to order at 7:52 p.m. II. Pledge of Allegiance Mr. Altieri led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. III. Approval of Minutes The May, 2015 minutes were approved by the committee. IV. Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved by the committee. V. Discussion/Informational Items A. Paxon Hollow Middle School Technology Program Mr. Chris Lee Mr. Lee told the committee that Paxon Hollow received a laser engraver and a 3-D printer last spring. The laser engraver can be used on many different materials, such as glass, cardboard, and wood. The 3-D printer can be used in drafting and CAD skills. Students can create and print in 3-D. Students in grades 6,7,8 will work on 2 projects in small groups and then rotate. Funding for the 2015/2016 school year has been built into the technology budget. There was discussion about making more 3-D printers available for students. B. New Elementary Curriculum for Seminar Curriculum Supervisors and Mrs. Helen Naab Dr. Bompadre told the committee that the Gifted Support Seminar curriculum is being aligned to the common core standards. Supervisors and gifted support teachers have discussed the strengths

and needs of the seminar program. The 4 th grade curriculum is designed around Pennsylvania Studies, History, and Geography. Dr. Josephine thanked 3 students for sharing their projects on Immigrations. Students chose the method of presentation (power point, magazine and video). Ms. Sandra Schaal shared a power point produced by Denise King, gifted support teacher. Students spoke about: Grade 2 special projects and building Grade 3 STEM focus (Science Technology Engineering and Math) Grade 4 Tales of the Towpath Canal boat Erie Canal Grade 5 team building, building bridges Projects were based on research, math skills, simple machines, science environmental issues. Proposed topics for the new curriculum are: Grade 2 The Power of the Story Grade 3 STEM Grade 4 PA History Grade 5 Environmental Issues C. Classroom Diagnostic Tests: How we are using the data K-12 Dr. Rich Slonaker Classroom Diagnostic Tools (CDT) is a set of online tools designed to provide diagnostic information in order to guide instruction and provide support to students and teachers. These tools (available at no cost) are fully integrated and aligned with the Standards Aligned System (SAS). These tools assist educators in identifying students academic strengths and areas of need, providing links to classroom resources. Students who take the CDT s: Math Grades 3-8 Grade 2 (end of year) Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II Reading Grades 3-8 Literature Science Grades 4,8 Grade 7 (end of year) Biology

Student data is available at the School, Grade level, Classroom, or Individual level. CDT s provide a snapshot of a student s progress in achieving proficiency in grade level standards and provide detailed data about gaps in student understanding. CDT s can also provide additional information that can be utilized to identify students who may benefit from enrichment or acceleration. VI. The following motions were moved along to the full Board. A. Motion to adopt the Resolution identifying and authorizing the Superintendent, Dr. Carol Cary, to sign electronic agreements within the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Training: B. Motion to approve Tracy Dubs, teacher, to attend the Advanced Placement Summer Institute at Camden County College in Blackwood, NJ on 8/3-6, 2015. The total cost to the district is $900.00 for registration. Sports: C. Motion to approve the High School Fall Sports schedule for the 2015-2016 school year as presented. D. Motion to approve Mrs. Kerren Vosheski, Cheer Coach, to accompany 20 students to travel to Pine Forest Camp, in Beach Lake, PA on 8/15-18, 2015. The students will be building pyramid skills and participating in team bonding. The cost per pupil is $245.00. There is no cost to the district. E. Motion to approve Coach Chris Gicking and the MNHS Football Team to travel to Lebanon Valley College for football camp on 7/12-15, 2015. The students will participate in team bonding and competition. The total cost per pupil is $330.00. There is no cost to the district. Student Trips: F. Motion to approve Mr. Mike Massimo, teacher, to accompany 85 students to travel to Camp Canadensis in Canadensis, PA on 8/27-31, 2015. The students will attend band camp and also perform in a Field Show. The total cost per pupil is $300.00. There is no cost to the district. G. Motion to approve Mr. Mike Massimo, teacher, to accompany 85 students to travel to Hershey, PA on 11/14/15 or 11/15/15 (day determined in August) to perform in a Field Show. The total cost will be paid for by the district. H. Motion to approve Mr. Mike Massimo, teacher, and Mrs. Liz Reese, teacher, to accompany 120 students to travel to Virginia Beach, VA on 4/21-25, 2016

for the Festival of Music. The cost per pupil is $450.00. There is no cost to the district. I. Motion to approve Mr. Chris Vogel, teacher, to accompany 46 students to travel to New York, NY on 8/12-15/2015 to see the Broadway performance of the Disney Musical, Aladdin. The cost per pupil is $150.00. There is no cost to the district. J. Motion to approve Mr. Chris Vogel, teacher, to accompany 80 students to Travel to Memphis, TN on 2/11-15/2016. Students will partner with another Memphis high school and the University of Memphis to perform a joint concert. The cost per pupil is $650.00. There is no cost to the district. Adoptions: K. Motion to approve the purchase of student licenses for Typing Pal Online. This program is a web-based keyboarding tutor that offers a personalized approach to learning keyboarding skills. The license will allow 1000 1499 students to use the program. The cost of the license would be $1230.00 a year. P. To approve the support agreement with Continuant for the support and maintenance of the district s telephone system. The support agreement is for a term of three years at an annual cost of $16,133.88. Q. To approve the internet service agreement with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit at a cost of $9,900 annually for the 2015-2016 school year.
