Mounting and selection quick guide On Grid Solar Kit rooftop installation
INSTALLATION WITH OVERLAID SUB-STRUCTURE (A.1, A.2) KIT SELECTOR MAP POWER KIT SELECTION The supporting matrix structure adopts the same tilt angle as the cover-roof. A.1 Simple Matrix, used in the case of modules placed horizontally. Fixing Clamps 5 kw 10 kw 15 kw 20 kw 30 kw 100 kw Roof beam Supporting Matrix profile ROOF TYPE TILTED ROOF (2 SLOPES) WITH ORIENTATION North/South CASE 1: Between 15 y 30 ᵒ of tilt angle FLAT ROOF TILTED ROOF (2 SLOPES) WITH ORIENTATION: East/West TILTED ROOF (2 SLOPES) WITH BAD ORIENTATION TILTED ROOF (2 SLOPES) WITH ORIENTATION: Norh/South CASE 2: Less than 15ᵒ of tilt angle A.2. Double Matrix, used in the case of modules placed vertically. In this case are mounted 2 matrix porfiles (downer & upper), and the PV modules are fidxed by its large frame (Ref. Installation Manual of Solaria Standard PV modules). Fixing clamps Roof beam Supporting Matrix Downer profile Supporting Matrix Upper profile A.1 A.2 B.3 B.4 B.5 B.6 1
INSTALLATION WITH TRIANGULATED SUB-STRUCTURE (B.3, B.4, B.5, B.6) For the cases where an additional inclination is needed. B.5. Roof with bad orientation, triangles with the optimal tilt angle are mounted & based profiles are mounted & South oriented. B.3. Flat roof, triangles with the optimal tilt angle are mounted. B.4. Roof East/Wes oriented, triangles with the optimal tilt angle are mounted & based profiles are mounted parallel top the roof s beams. B.6. Roof with 2 slopes (North-South) & not enough inclination (< 15ᵒ), triangles with the optimal tilt angle are mounted. Based profiles are mounted perpendicular to the roof s beams & the upper matrix profiles are ensambled to the triangles, and then are ensambled to the downer matrix profiles. 2
PV MODULES INTERCONNECTION Once supporting structure is ensambled & PV modules are fixed, proceed to the strings interconnection according to the drawings and previous design. The interconnection is made by TYCO quick-connectors : Size and type characteristics of the wires: 2 solar black cables of 100 cm and a section of 4mm2 with Tyco Solar-Lock connectors. Plugs are marked with the respective polarity. The Minus pole is minus-coded and the Plus pole is neutrally coded Negative Pole {Conector Hembra} Positive Pole {Conector Macho} Thermal Characteristics: Solar black cables must work in a range of temperature between: - 40 ⁰ F and + 194 ⁰ F. Extraction Force: Insertion Force: Cable Extraction Force: max. 10N min. 10N min. 300N Keep each final string insulated to avoid any kind of electrocution risk. SOLARIA photovoltaic modules guarantee an electrical isolation up to 1000 V. Consequently, modules can be connected in series up to the voltage mentioned above. 3
DC/AC GRID CONNECTION Each string is connected to an string box(level box) including all DC and AC breakers pre-mounted. DC SIDE Automatic Breakers for DC side DC Surge Protection (X3) AC SIDE AC Surge Protection (X3) I.A. I.D. AC NPUTS (INVERTER DC/AC) TO STRING BOX STRING BOX AC OUTPUT TO INVERTER GROUNDING. It must be made radially (from on LY one point). There must be separated grounds for: - PV modules frame & supporting structure - Inverters - Electrical ac grounding More detailed information about the grounding method can be studied on the PV modules installation manual SAFETY WARNINGS When connecting/disconnecting the modules to the inverter take special care and perform the operation under secure conditions. Observe carefully the instructions of the inverter. Even after disconnection of the inverter there is a risk of electric shock. Before any operation of maintenance and during installation, switch the modules off with a disconnection switch. Working with conductors which conduct direct current can cause electric arcs. 4
ANNEX: TYCO CONNECTORS CRIMPING PROCEDURE 1) Strip the wire (4 or 6 mm2) length taking care not to bend or to damage the wire strands. Choose the according contact and identify the appropriate crimp section according the wire size marking on the crimping head and proceed as follows: NOTES These instructions are only for specialists who are familiar with the installation due to their technical qualification. Before handling or connecting the modules it is very important to read and understand all the instructions. The module produces electricity as soon as the cells are exposed to the sunlight. 2) Hold the contact in position and squeeze the tool handles together until the ratchet engages sufficiently to hold the contact in position. Make sure you don t deform the contact: Electrical & Mechanical installation must be reached according to the local standars and regulations. Use only insulated tools that have the necessary requirements to operate in electrical installations. Do not handle the modules under wet conditions. 3) Insert the stripped wire into the contact wire barrel. Hold the wire in place and squeeze the tool handles together until ratchet releases. For detailed information about operation and maintenance of the PV modules, study the installation manual of Solaria PV modules. 5
