The Quick Start Guide to AIRmedia.org (updated March 25, 2015) Welcome! In June 2014, AIR s board of directors recognized that our web presence no longer reflected the creativity and professionalism of our network and a website redevelopment was born. We approached the redevelopment with goals based on the board s feedback and your survey responses: To build a beautiful, easily searchable site for AIR s resources and projects To communicate AIR's mission, programs and priorities To demonstrate the depth and breadth of AIR s network of independent producers with an improved Talent Directory (and to make it easy to find the right person for the job) To streamline login and profile management for AIR producers To update the AIRDaily, the braintrust and heart of our network, where producers come to pose questions, post (and find) jobs, and discuss anything and everything that matters in the independent and public media ecosystem If you d prefer a guided experience, AIR Talent Manager Bec Feldhaus Adams will conduct a Welcome to AIRmedia.org webinar at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, March 13, which you can access at http://bit.ly/airsitewebinar. The webinar will be recorded and archived on our Vimeo page at https://vimeo.com/airmedia. We can t wait to show you all of the resources at your fingertips, so let s get to it. 1. First, you need a new password. Click the Login button on the home page.

ONLY FOR THE FIRST TIME YOU VISIT AIRMEDIA.ORG: Select Forgot password? You will see a prompt like this. Enter the email address you use to log in to AIRmedia.org, or to renew your membership. If you can t remember, or if you have been using different email addresses for AIRmedia.org and for the AIRDaily, please call 617-825- 4400 or email David@AIRmedia.org. NEXT: Logging in.

2. When you receive the email and set your password, the next step is to check your profile and user settings. You should see a screen that looks something like this. Please click on Edit Profile. From this screen, you will be able to review your personal information, your Talent Directory entry, and your settings for the AIRDaily. You will be able to upload a photo, too. It s really important that you check your profile information. We imported a lot of data and want to be sure nothing was lost or changed on the way. This is also a good chance to update your information in the Talent Directory. We know that 30% of our producers get work from people finding them in our Talent Directory. This is what those looking for you will see. Please notice the eye icon over some of the fields. This is how you control your entry in the Talent Directory and in your AIRDaily profile. When the eye is open (as above), it means that the information you ve shared is visible in your Talent Directory. When the eye is crossed out (below), it means that the information is private and will not appear on your profile.

Now, check out the Manage Preferences section. This is where you can reset your password (which you can also always do by clicking the Forgot something? link in the login screen as per the instructions at the start of this FAQ). You can also opt into or out of the Talent Directory and various mailing lists by clicking on the red X or the green check mark next to each item: In the Public Profile section, you have the option of making your street address visible in the Talent Directory. Your email address, city and state will be public by default, but you must opt in to reveal your address and phone number. Please review and update the rest of your information and public/private settings. You can change your profile photo by clicking on the image box next to your name at the top of the page.

A window like this will appear: Select a photo file (.tif,.jpg/jpeg,.png) from your computer and click submit. NEXT: The AIRDaily.

3. Now we re ready to visit the core of AIR s network. Once you re logged in, you can access the Daily by clicking the AIRDaily link in the topline navigation. NOTE: As you scroll down the page, the topline navigation will change to look like this: Just click on the three lines at the far right to make the navigation index reappear. You ll see this screen:

Please take a minute to check out (and test) the buttons at the top of the forum. New topic works just like adding a discussion. The Get posts in real time button means exactly that if you click the button, you will receive an email for every post that is added to the AIRDaily. Each email will include a link to the post so you can reply to the list or directly to the person who sent each message. The reply to links will look like this: If you prefer to receive the AIRDaily in digest, click the Get Digest button.

You will be able to configure your digests in a number of ways: First, click the box next to the word Yes. It will turn gray gray means good to go. Then, choose whether you d like to receive daily or weekly digests, and at what day or time: If you would like to receive the digest multiple times a day, you can do so by setting the first time you d like to receive the digest, clicking update settings, and then setting another time to receive the digest and clicking updating settings again. To unsubscribe, click the gray box next to Check if you want to receive daily digest until it turns white, and you will be unsubscribed. NEXT: Understanding the Talent Directory.

5. Once you ve set your preferences for the AIRDaily, it s time to check out your entry in the Talent Directory. The page looks like this: Our approach to the Talent Directory was guided by our experience in connecting programs and networks to producers with the talents and experiences that they need. We want to make sure you understand how the search works so that you can make the most of your Talent Directory profile. First, you can search by name or location:

There s also a set of advanced search filters. The search can be refined by two key fields in your profile: Available for and Media experience. Later in 2015, we will add filtering by race and ethnicity, to reflect the growing range of experiences within our network and to address many programs and networks desire to diversify their hiring practices. Only AIR producers who choose to display their race or ethnicity in the Talent Directory will appear in those search results.

Finally, here s what a Talent Directory entry looks like:

Please note that you also have the option to add links to your PRX page, your SoundCloud clips, and your personal website. You can update your Talent Directory listing any time by updating your profile settings. Just log in and click profile at the top of the page. Then click Edit Profile. Don t forget to check the icons to be sure your answers are visible. If they re crossed out, the will NOT appear in the Talent Directory:

LAST THING: How to get help.

6. We want you to enjoy AIRmedia.org and the outstanding network of producers you will find there as you make the transition from old to new. If you have any questions or concerns, don t hesitate to contact AIR s operations manager, David Dawson, at 617-825- 4400 or david@airmedia.org.
