1 DAIDS Learning Portal: Getting Started Guide Welcome to the DAIDS Learning Portal! We offer easy access to a wide variety of DAIDS training courses, resources, and support all in one place. Use this Getting Started Guide to learn more about each section of the website, find the resources you need, and make the most of your experience. Recent Changes In March 2015, we made some changes to the DAIDS Learning Portal to make the site even easier to use than before. We made two key types of changes. 1. We reorganized key sections of the site. You can get to these sections from the new site menu. Here s what you ll find in each section: Home takes you to the DAIDS Learning Portal home page. Courses gives you one-click access to DAIDS-required courses and other highlighted courses in the Learning Management System (LMS). You can get to the full course catalog materials by clicking the blue button at the bottom of the screen. Resources (formerly the Learning Center) provides information about DAIDS policies, course requirements, helpful links, and more. It also includes a link to the ClinRegs website and easy access to the list of Other Helpful Contacts and Websites. Discussion Forum (formerly the Social Learning Community) lets you connect with other DAIDS Learning Portal members. Help (formerly the Training Navigator) provides support for the website. Now you can get to the Help options even when you re not signed in. You can submit an Us form, chat with us live, or make an appointment to talk with us in the future. You might want to check the Frequently Asked Questions page first to see if there s already an answer to your question. 2. We improved your security. The DAIDS Learning Portal will automatically log you out after 20 minutes of inactivity. A warning message will appear after 19 minutes so you can indicate that you are still using the site. Note: This time out feature does not apply to the LMS section of the website. If you re in the middle of a course, you won t be automatically logged out. 2 Home Page The Home page provides quick access to all the main areas of the website. You can get to this page at any time by clicking Home in the purple navigation bar at the top of every page. To go to other areas of the website, click the area s name in the navigation bar or the hyperlinks on the Home page. Sign In: On any page of the website, you can sign into your account or request an account if you don t already have one. Learn About the DAIDS Learning Portal: Click this link to go to our Getting Started page, where you ll find helpful links for new users of the DAIDS Learning Portal. Page 2 of 9

3 Courses and Resources: Click on Courses to find DAIDS required trainings, highlighted courses, and the full course catalog. Click on Resources to get detailed information on specific areas of learning, such as the Critical Events Policy and Protocol Registration. From the Home page, click on View All Materials and Resources to go directly to a list of all courses and materials. Discussion Forum: You can share, collaborate, and get support from your colleagues through our Discussion Forum. Start a conversation or reply to someone else s post to take part in the discussion. You must have an account and be signed in to use this feature. Help: We are always available to help you with any website or content questions you may have. If you visit the Help page before signing in, you will be able to reset your password, contact our support staff by , and check the Frequently Asked Questions page. Sign in to unlock additional support tools, such as live chat and meeting scheduling. Learning Management System: We recently launched our new LMS, which is highlighted on our Home page. Once you have signed in, click on Go to LMS to open it. From there, you can take an online course, look at your current list of courses, and print out course completion certificates. Page 3 of 9

4 Courses Page The Courses page displays DAIDS-required courses, a selection of highlighted courses, and a link to a searchable list of all courses and materials we offer on the DAIDS Learning Portal. DAIDS Required Courses: The three courses DAIDS requires to fulfill policy training requirements are listed here. To begin a course, just click the title and the course opens in the LMS. For more information about what training DAIDS requires, go to the Training Required by DAIDS page. Highlighted Courses: DAIDS offers many courses that support DAIDS research and related training. This area highlights a rotating selection of courses that may interest you. Click the course title to launch it and begin your training. Check this page regularly to see what s new! View All Courses and Materials: Click this button to browse through all of courses, resources, and other materials on the DAIDS Learning Portal. The list of everything we offer will appear. You can browse through page by page, or narrow down the list using the Topic or Format filters on the right side of the page. Page 4 of 9

5 Resources Page The Resources page connects you with detailed information to help you understand what we offer, choose courses to take, and find related websites. Click any title to view information and courses about that topic. Page 5 of 9

6 Training Required by DAIDS: This is where you ll find our training and policy requirements. We also provide suggestions for additional training. DAIDS Critical Events Policy Training: Learn what to do for critical events, including how to recognize, classify, report, and take correction. We also provide a Critical Events Decision Tool that walks you through the decision-making process when an event occurs. DAIDS Protocol Registration Training: Explore the different ways you can learn about protocol registration, including information and courses on the protocol registration policy and manual, and on the DAIDS Protocol Registration System (DPRS). This section also links you to other helpful resources on protocol registration. Clinical Quality Management Training: Learn about the quality management training offered, including a self-guided orientation, courses on corrective action preventative action (CAPA) processes, and additional related courses and materials. ClinRegs: This resource offers an online database of country-specific clinical research regulatory information via the ClinRegs website. Other Helpful Contacts and Website: Find training contacts and websites that can supplement your learning. Page 6 of 9

7 Discussion Forum The Discussion Forum is where you can ask questions and share information with other people involved in DAIDS-supported and/or sponsored clinical research. You must log into the website to use this feature. After you log in, go to the Discussion Forum page and click Go to the Discussion Forum. If this is your first time in the Discussion Forum, you ll need to read and agree to the content policy. Page 7 of 9

8 Discussion Forum Menu: Once you re in the Discussion Forum, you can navigate to different areas using the Discussion Forum menu. The first page you ll see is the Discussion Forum Home page, which you can return to at any time from the menu. Click All Conversations to see all the discussions across different subject areas. Since all conversations are grouped by subject area, filter the list to the area you re interested in by clicking Browse Groups. Starting a New Conversation: To start a conversation, simply enter a subject, write what you want to say in the Body field, assign a group (and topic, where appropriate), and click Submit Post. This conversation will be posted to the group you selected and will be available for all members to read and respond to. My Conversations and My Groups: On the Discussion Forum Home page, there are tabs for My Conversations and My Groups. Click My Conversations to see what s being discussed in the groups and topics and by the people you follow. If you re following specific conversations, you ll find these here, too. Click My Groups to see the activity in the groups you follow. To change what you are following and what you receive notifications for, go to your profile and select the Notifications tab. Existing Conversations: You can read the entire conversation and all replies by clicking the title of a conversation. From the conversation page, you can submit a reply and join the discussion. 9 Help We re here to help all visitors to the website. Different help options are available depending on whether or not you have an account or are logged in. Forgot Your Password: We have so many passwords these days, it s hard to remember them all! If you forget your password to the DAIDS Learning Portal, click this option to go to the DAIDS Password Management Portal (PMP), and select to reset your password. Note: Your PMP security questions must already be set up to use this option. If you haven t set up your security questions, click the Us option for additional help. Us: us at any time, even if you haven t logged into the website. Click Us and enter your information into the form. We ll respond within one business day. Frequently Asked Questions: Check our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page at any time to see if your question has already been asked and answered. If you don t find an answer to your question, come back to the Help page and us with your question. Chat with Us: If you re logged into the website, you can chat with one of our DAIDS Training Support Team members in real time by clicking Chat with Us. We love to hear from our users, and are available to chat live Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM 4:00 PM EST. Make an Appointment: If you re logged into the website, you can click Make an Appointment to open the contact form pre-populated with your information.
