Hence, the idea for this periodical LEAN Bulletin was mooted to highlight some of the latest updates and activities carried out by MPC in its quest to promote LEAN Culture locally. The main objective of this bulletin is to create awareness and we hope that these initiatives will assist organisations to reach greater heights in the future. Thank you. LEAN Journey in MPC LEAN refers to a collection of principles and methods that focuses on identifying and eliminating non-value added activities through continuous improvement of products for the benefit of customers and in the pursuit of perfection. The LEAN movement was initiated in 2011 as part of improving the processes of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. The journey started off with a Module Capacity Building for officers of MPC in collaboration with experts from various industries. This was done to ensure that MPC offi cers would be well trained before assisting the local SMEs and other government institutions. In 2012, MPC further improved the movement by setting up the LEAN Centre of Excellence (CoE) in MPC s East Coast Region in Kuantan. Several kick-start projects followed suit, such as Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang (PKNP), Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan (MPK), Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah Kuantan (PDT), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Kuantan Specialist Hospital. A LEAN Summit was held in February to serve as a platform for sharing sessions and to exchange views and opinions. MPC has been actively promoting LEAN-related programmes such as public training programmes, overseas study missions, hands-on workshops and seminars. MPC aspires to spearhead the LEAN Journey programme in the Malaysian healthcare industry in 2014. 2011 - Formation of MPC LEAN Secretariat - LEAN Promotional Efforts 2012 - Module Capacity Building of MPC Officers - Establishment of LEAN Centre of Excellence (CoE)in the East Coast Region Pilot Projects - Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang - MPK (Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan) - Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah Kuantan (PDT) - International Study Missions (continuous) - International LEAN Summit - Awareness workshop - Hands-on LEAN systems development in private and public sectors 2014 - LEAN Healthcare LEAN Journey in MPC
