ATPL Manuals In 1997, Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) created a detailed ground training syllabus for the new JAR-FCL ATPL, playing a central and key role in delivering the official JAR-FCL ATPL theoretical knowledge. During the period leading up to the introduction of the new JAR-FCL syllabus in 2000, OAA took the decision to develop JAR-FCL ATPL theoretical knowledge manuals. Since then, our ATPL manuals have become the standard material used by ATPL student pilots and training organisations around the world for the completion of ATPL theoretical knowledge training. Our series of 14 manuals comprehensively covers the EASA ATPL learning objectives. The manuals provide students with the knowledge they require to become safe and competent pilots and to prepare them for the EASA ATPL examinations. There are many illustrative diagrams that help to explain the more difficult concepts and the majority of chapters include multiple choice questions which allow students to check their progress. RT Communication CBT We provide further details about this particular subject on this page due to the common challenge experienced by student pilots when starting to work with the radio communication. These interactive CBT courses provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the effective use of radiotelephony communications. Animations together with audio sequences, give the student a complete picture of the air-traffic situation. The product range includes complete VFR and IFR flight scenarios. The VFR RT CBT uses international ICAO RT procedures and phraseology to teach the RT skills required when flying in accordance with the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) anywhere in the world. This CBT will also help the student to prepare for the JAA/EASA Communications examination and for the RT Operator s Licence test. The VFR RT UK Airspace Supplement CBT is intended to complement the main VFR RT CBT. It contains lessons on the differences in UK RT procedures from those of ICAO and is designed for students who do most of their flying in UK airspace. The IFR RT CBT is designed to follow on from the international VFR RT CBT and complies with ICAO IFR RT procedures. Its main purpose is to provide pilots preparing for an Instrument Rating test with practical instruction in IFR RT skills. The CBT courses are available as CD-ROMs, to be installed on PCs (home study), or they can be accessed online through our learning management system. Corporate Customers At CAE Oxford Aviation Academy we believe that ground training instructors should fully devote their time to training and guiding students. With this in mind, we have set about developing the most effective training materials, facilities and support tools to enable your instructors to fulfil their role to the highest standards, inspiring students to master the theoretical knowledge they require to become safe and competent pilots. Our training materials combine the world-renowned technical and teaching expertise of CAE Oxford Aviation Academy specialist ground instructors and the multimedia design talents of the Interactive Learning team. Our materials provide training organisations with an effective foundation to support the delivery of ground training programs. The prices listed in this guide refer to Individual User Licences purchased for self-study. If you are a training organisation and wish to use our products as part of your training program, we can offer a Training School User Licence that is tailored to best fit your needs. Please contact us so we can understand your requirements and provide you with further details of the licence terms and discounted pricing for multiple users. For training organisations we offer an online Learning Management System (LMS) to complement our traditional products. This LMS allows the delivery of online CBT with progress tracking and student grade reports among other advantages. There is also a licence option which enables the use of CBT to support classroom instruction (normally with the use of a data projector or large screen). CAE Oxford Interactive Learning 13

Learning Management System (LMS) The CAE Oxford Interactive LMS is a web-based platform which features online CBT and enables instructors to deliver content and to monitor student participation and performance. It also enables instructors to handle a range of administrative tasks including the creation of reports on content viewed and student exam grades. Our LMS is based on a world leading open source software used by universities globally including the London School of Economics and the Open University. It is very customisable and scalable. This means that we can develop a bespoke interface for the LMS using our school partners own branding so that it fully integrates with their training delivery. The LMS offers different options when it comes to delivering ground school training. For example, the online CBT can be used in conjunction with classroom instruction for the delivery of specific modules (where instructors direct students to complete CBT lessons, supplementing the in-class training). Students can also access the CBT lessons as a revision tool. The flexibility of the LMS enables us to tailor the interface, features and content as required, based on the training preferences and requirements of our school partner. Classroom CBT Within our range of CBT, there are thousands of images and animations which can support instructors explanations throughout ground school classes. Ground instructors may find our range of CBT to be of great support for their classroom instruction. 14 CAE Oxford Interactive Learning

Frequently Asked Questions Should I choose manuals or CBT? Both the manuals and the CBT comprehensively cover the theory of their relevant subject matter but do so in different ways. The CBT includes audio, illustrations, animations and key phrases. Due to the combination of these elements, students progress faster through their studies with the CBT. On the other hand, the manuals will explain the topics through text and illustration. In order to explain the theory well, more text is used so the manuals cover the subjects in more detail than the CBT. The decision regarding which one to use is according to the student s preference as both cover the required knowledge. Using both the manuals and the CBT materials is a powerful combination because students get different perspectives on the same content, stimulating the memory and having more references to help their learning process. However, it is not required to use them together as each format is self-contained. What are the system requirements to run the CBT? At this moment, the CBT only runs on Windows operational system. The CD-ROM version requires the PC to have a CD-drive and the CD must be inserted in the drive for the CBT to run. The online version requires Flash and Shockwave plugins to be installed on the internet browser. Can I install the CBT onto different computers? Yes, for the CD version, you would just need to have the CD inserted in the CD-drive of the PC you wish to run the CBT. For the online version, you can access from any PC connected to the Internet using your personal login details. Can I access the CBT offline? The CBT cannot be downloaded. At the moment, the option to run the CBT offline is the purchase of the CD-ROM version. For more information please visit our webshop. www.caeoxfordinteractive.com 16 CAE Oxford Interactive Learning
