> 600 billion rubles will be allocated to development of IT and telecommunications in Russia At the IT Forum in August 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that over 600 billion rubles would be allocated to the State Strategy of IT Development in the Russian Federation in 2014-2020 and up to 2025, and to the Information Society state program. Mr Putin also stressed that Russia had to cooperate with BRICS countries, especially China, to develop its information technologies. TRENDS OF RUSSIAN SMARTPHONE MARKET Strong growth of smartphone share in the total market of mobile terminals The share of smartphones increased from 37% to 67% in 2013 Q1 and 2015 Q1 accordingly. Drop in sales of flagship models of mobile devices Due to increase in their cost, the average price of flagship models grew by 41% in 2015 (the average price of smartphones increased by 21% totally). Interest growth in the gadgets made by Chinese manufacturers Due to euro and dollar rates increase, prices for American and European smartphones exceeded psychologically comfortable level of Russian consumers. This leads to a growing popularity of Chinese gadgets in all price segments. Increase in the number of Chinese manufacturers of mobile devices in 2014 2015 The number of Chinese manufacturers briskly increased (up to 45%). They offer functional and well equipped devices at lower prices. The market has the necessary conditions to substitute the US manufactured smartphones for those made in China and South Korea.
