Courses (Day Section) Step-I: Fill up the Application Form accurately. Confirm yourself regarding the spelling of Name, Date of birth, Mobile No., Marks obtained in different subjects etc. Applicants are allowed to choose maximum 3 subjects for Honours. Step-II: On line submission of the filled up Application Form will give you a Deposit Challan slip for payment of Registration fee. The challan will show your Applicant ID/Regn. No. which is utmost important for your Identity and also for all future correspondence. You will get SMS from MSSNET regarding successful Registration; but your Registration process will be complete only after payment of Registration fee. Step-III: Print the Deposit Challan slip and produce it for payment of Registration fee (non re-fundable). Payment Details: Registration fee against application for admission to U.G. (Hons/Pass) Course - for Honours only: Rs.100/- + Banking Charge Rs: 20/-, Pass Course only: Rs.100/- + Banking Charge Rs: 20/- and Honours + Pass Course both: Rs. 200/- + Banking Charge Rs: 40/- payment must be made through challan in any branch of Canara Bank.( near College branch -Mathrun Branch, Burdwan-713143) After receiving your payment of Registration Fee, Your Application will be Updated and then only you will be able to proceed for subject choice.
Guidelines for the Applicants 1. Students must apply through ONLINE for Honours and General/Pass courses. Visit our website (www.mangalkotegovtcollege.org). 2. Incomplete applications are liable to be summarily rejected. 3. In case of grading system in 10+2 result, the applicants must obtain the percentage of marks for their grades mentioned in the mark sheets otherwise against the grade the minimum marks in the range (mentioned against the grade) will be considered for the calculation. 4. Total intake capacity is printed in the Brochure for each course. 5. It is mandatory for all admitted students to be present in the class for at least seven days out of first two weeks of commencement of class. 6. Applicants are advised to visit our website: www.mangalkotegovtcollege.org for any updates (inclusion/omission) at regular intervals. 7. Candidates must be very careful during the entry of the marks obtained in the last qualifying examinations on the basis of which merit list will be prepared. No claim shall be entertained for data entry mistakes committed by the applicant at the time of applying online. 8. Merit Point (HONS) = Aggregate of H.S Marks (Best five) + Marks obtained in Honours seeking Subject, except Sociology. For Sociology Merit Point= Aggregate of H.S Marks (Best five) + Marks obtained in English. Merit Point (General/Pass) = Aggregate of H.S Marks (Best five) (Merit point will be prepared excluding ENVS in both cases Hons and Pass) RESERVATION GUIDELINES FOR THE APPLICANTS Reservation for SC, ST, OBC & DA (previously PWD) (Differently able) candidates: Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/Differently able candidates shall be as per Government rules as applicable at the time of admission. As per the order of the Hon ble Supreme Court of India, reservation for OBC candidates shall not include socially advanced persons (commonly known as the creamy layer ). The onus of establishing that an OBC candidate does not belong to the creamy layer shall rest with the candidate. Certificates in respect of SC/ST/OBC/Differently able candidates should be issued by appropriate authorities authorized by the respective Government in this regard within their respective jurisdictions (e.g. District Magistrate/District Collector/ Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Officer/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Deputy Collector/Executive Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Stipendiary Assistant Commissioner (not below the rank of First Class Magistrate)/Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate/Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar/Deputy Commissioners/First Class Stipendary Magistrate/Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta/Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta/Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta/Collector of Stamp Revenue, Calcutta/Deputy Collector of Land Revenue, Calcutta). Certificates issued by an appropriate authority, who have been authorized by the Government to issue such certificates in case of candidates claiming to be Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates and ordinarily residing within such jurisdictions, may only be accepted. Differently Able Persons (Certificates from at least Sub-Divisional level Govt. hospitals are necessary) Minimum degree of disability should be 40% in order to be eligible for any benefits. Orthopedically Handicapped/Locomotor disability/cerebral Palsy The Orthopedically handicapped are those who have a physical defect or deformity which causes an interference with the normal functioning of the bones, muscles and joints. All cases of orthopedically handicapped persons would be covered under this category. Visually Handicapped (Blind and partially blind) A person inflicted with any of the following disabilities shall be considered: i) Total absence of sight ii) With visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses iii) With limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degrees or worse The Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates should posses the latest certificates issued by an authorized hospital under the Govt. of India/State Governments. Hearing Impairment/Deafness The deaf are those in whom the sense of hearing is non-functional for ordinary purposes of life. They do not hear or understand sounds at all events with amplified speech. The cases included in this category will be those having hearing loss for more than 60 decibels in the better ear (profound impairment) or total loss of hearing in both ears. Certificate of Category (SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc) must be produced during verification in college office. If a candidate fails to produce the above certificate, he/she will be dropped from the panel and the next candidate in the panel will be given the chance. Not more than one type of relaxation shall be granted to any candidate. 10. 11. Admission Fees: The Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal has a Plan to have uniform fee structure in all Government Colleges of W.B. It will be notified soon. 12. How to apply. ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Candidates have to apply through our online application system (www.mangalkotegovtcollege.org). The online application allows the candidate to provide all information and also to upload scanned photograph (at last stage, within 30kb size) Details of the courses, eligibility criteria and relevant information are available in this Brochure and our college website. The registration fees & Admission fees for online application must be paid by a Bank Challan generated online: Details of the Bank will be printed in the Challan. An applicant can choose maximum three honours subjects after completion of registration process. 14. After taking admission in honours subject, candidates are required to choose two elective subjects. The combination groups for choosing elective subjects of the honours subjects are as follows:

ENGLISH B Any two from List-1 except English. HISTORY C Any two from List-1 except History. POLITICAL SCIENCE D Any two from List-1 except Political Science SOCIOLOGY E Any two from List-1 except Sociology ** List-1- Bengali, English, History, Political Science and Sociology. For General Course: - B.A: (Combination Gr.: F): Students may take any three combinations from List-1. 15. A candidate may take advantage of changing honours subject (one time) after taking admission, if his/her name will enlist in the corresponding merit list. 16. Rights of cancellation or selection/admission lie with the Admission Committee of the Institute concerned. 17. After depositing admission fees, candidates are required to visit college for verification along with all testimonials and original documents within next two working days to complete the admission process. Date and time (regarding verification) may be changed and it will be published in College website (www.mangalkotegovtcollege.org). 18. If a candidate gives wrong information or misguides the college, then his/her admission will be cancelled and the admission fees will be forfeited. Note: Students passing (10+2) level with vocational Engineering and Technology/ Vocational Agriculture/ Vocational Business and Commerce may apply for admission to this college for the session 2015-2016 in appropriate undergraduate course according to the norms of the University of Burdwan.
Academic discipline (1) According to the guidelines framed by the University of Burdwan, a student will have to attend at least 75% of their classes to appear as a regular student in the Final Examination. (2) Student having attendance less than 75% but above 60% will be declared NON-COLLEGIATE. However, they will be allowed to sit for the Final Examination with a fine specified by the college. (3) Students are expected to pay respect and extend co-operation to Teaching and Non-teaching staff. (4) Students should keep the college campus clean. (5) Students must not loiter in the verandah in front of the running class room. (6) Every student should bring his/ her identity card without fail while coming to the college and present it when required. (7) Students are directed to go through the Notice Board regularly.
