DATA SHEET CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers (Includes CA Systems Performance for Infrastructure Managers) CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers (formerly CA Virtual Performance Management) is an add-on product to CA s Enterprise Managers supporting large production virtualization environments, enhancing operational visibility and control, and driving agility. It delivers a greater ROI by providing centralized, heterogeneous physical and virtual systems management and expanding support into networks, databases, and applications. Business value With the need to manage virtualization in production environments, large IT organizations need to rely on an enterprise-class, end-to-end infrastructure management solution that includes support for systems, networks, databases, and applications across both physical and virtual environments. CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers provides an integrated view of physical and virtual systems management for multi-platform, multi-vendor server technologies from VMware, IBM, Oracle/Sun, and Citrix. This enhances operational visibility and provides much-needed agility that can translate into a greater ROI. Product overview Gartner says only 16% of workloads are running in virtual machines today. 1 As more virtual machines (VMs) are provisioned, enterprises are faced with a plethora of challenges, including VM sprawl, security access, configuration changes, and the extent of automation needed in managing a heterogeneous environment. CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers helps address these head-on by providing centralized management across physical and virtual environments, providing much-needed visibility to confidently deploy production applications in virtual environments. All of which results in greater ROI and operational visibility.

Delivery approach CA Services form an integral part of the CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers, providing assessment, implementation, health check, and other pre- and post-deployment services. This helps enable organizations to accelerate the time-to-value of their virtualization investment, mitigate implementation risks, and improve the alignment between IT and business processes. CA virtualization management portfolio CA offers a comprehensive virtualization management portfolio that allows organizations of any size to start small, meeting baseline virtualization needs, while scaling to an enterprise-class solution that is fully integrated into enterprise-wide, end-to-end management. CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers is a key product in this portfolio geared towards meeting the virtualization management needs of large, global enterprises. Marquee features Centralized management Provides a central point of control and visibility for managing physical and virtual server environments delivering greater operational efficiencies. Broad platform coverage CA s support includes VMware vcenter, Oracle/Sun Solaris Zones, IBM LPARs, and Citrix/Xen virtual server technologies. This single-pane-of-glass view into the multiple platforms helps mitigate staffing challenges. Remote deployment, configuration, and patching capabilities Ideal for supporting largescale physical and virtual server environments; can result in greater CAPEX and OPEX savings. Integration with CA enterprise managers Scalable solution designed to meet the needs of large enterprises. It offers out-of-the-box integrations with CA Infrastructure and CA Automation Managers, making it valuable to organizations looking for full lifecycle physical and virtualization management support, from provisioning and configuration management to performance, root-cause analytics, and automation. Further, the solution supports integration with CA Help Desk, resulting in policy-driven escalation to the right teams, reducing downtime. Web-based user interface, performance dashboards, and reports A user-friendly interface designed to make it easy for IT operations to have access to real-time metrics and at-a-glance historical performance reports, all at their fingertips. This facilitates informed decisions about performance, utilization, and capacity planning. Role-based security Enables role-based management by defining access privileges according to the role of the user. It also ensures the security of VMs in motion. 02

Integrations with CA infrastructure and automation managers: CA Infrastructure Management solutions provide large, global enterprise organizations with the ultimate integrated management experience for both physical and virtual environments via CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers. The solution proactively polls and directly captures critical real-time metrics used in diagnosing performance problems, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis, reducing downtime. CA ehealth Performance Manager Discover and monitor virtualized servers and their VMs Proactively analyze data for systemic issues using time-over-threshold and deviation-fromnormal algorithms designed to identify performance problems in virtual infrastructure before end users are impacted Real-time and historical collection of performance and availability metrics from the virtual servers At-a-glance and trend reports for virtual servers Supported platforms include VMware vcenter, Sun Solaris Zones, and IBM LPARs 03

Figure B Performance dashboards of virtual environments CA ehealth Performance Manager provides real-time dashboards of infrastructure technologies, including virtual environments. CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager Discover and monitor virtualized servers and their VMs Visualize the logical relationships between physical and virtual servers Detect changes in dynamic virtual infrastructure and automatically update topology Quickly find the real root cause of faults in virtual infrastructure and intelligently suppress noise from symptomatic alarms View physical resource allocation and utilization Supported platforms include VMware vcenter and Sun Solaris Zones CA NSM Integrate virtual and physical management into an existing CA NSM Manager Enhance systems management with new deployment and configuration capabilities Discover and monitor virtualized servers and their VMs and visualize the logical relationships of physical and virtual servers 04

Policy-based management that results in notification and escalations based on metrics from virtual servers Supported platforms include VMware vcenter, Sun Solaris Zones, IBM LPARs, and Citrix Xen CA Spectrum Automation Manager CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers integration with CA Spectrum Automation Manager delivers comprehensive monitoring, management, and reporting across virtual, physical, and cloud environments Enhances discovery capabilities by identifying the relationship between the physical host and VMs Enhances performance monitoring to quickly identify overutilized resources Uses this information to automate allocation and provisioning of additional resources or the migration of VMs Supported platforms include VMware vcenter, Sun Solaris Zones, IBM LPARs, and Citrix Xen Benefits CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers is a highly scalable solution designed for large, global IT organizations offering exceptional control, agility, and deep insight into systems, networks, databases, and applications across both physical and virtual environments. Further, modular solutions enable organizations to leverage their existing investments in CA technologies. Key benefits include: Visibility Gaining visibility into VM locations, configuration changes, security access, and application traffic response times is often a challenge for virtual administrators. CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers provides the ability to look across your entire physical and virtual environments and expand into supporting networks, databases, and applications. This level of granular visibility and control across diverse hypervisor layers aligns capacity with performance and helps to ensure compliance. Assurance Patented, industry leading, models-based root-cause analysis and proactive performance monitoring are critical to assuring uptime, cost containment, and agility. It also allows greater trust in virtualization performance, allowing expansion of virtualization deployments and of associated benefits. 05

With the move to more dynamic, larger-scale virtualized production environments, IT decision-makers begin to see how important effective management and automation of the virtual infrastructure environment is to the consistent support of business goals.
