VIPTA - Verizon Internet Provider Test Acceptance
VIPTA (Verizon Internet Provider Test Acceptance) The VIPTA process is an email that a customer will receive once Verizon has completed all the required testing on an eligible special access circuit. Circuits that are eligible for VIPTA need to be a special access DS3, DS1 or 2-wire DS0 circuits with a loopable device or smartjack. ASR s submitted to Verizon need to have an eligible ACNA and IMPCON (Implementation Contact Number) that match the ACNA and IMPCON built in our VIPTA database. Your ACNA and IMPCON information is set up at the time of enrollment. The VIPTA email will be sent to a customer s designated email address. The email will provide all the test and turn up information that normally is exchanged over the phone, such as the customer s order information, test results, demarc and CFA information. By accepting this process, no testing or direct communication will occur on the date due between the Verizon technician and the customer s technician. The email replaces the phone call to the customer. As such, the customer will accept an order as completed based solely on the test results between the Verizon center technician and the Verizon outside technician. The circuits that are turned up this way must have a loop back device so head-to-head testing is not necessary on most circuits. 2
How does the VIPTA process work? The Verizon field technician will physically install a new circuit (DS3, DS1 or 2-wire DS0) at the customer s location. Verizon will complete all the required testing and once we have a good circuit to turn up to the customer, the VIPTA email is sent to the customer and the order is completed in our Verizon systems. The email will have all the test results and order information that is normally exchanged over the phone. The email will include the following information: The customer s PON number and circuit ID along with Verizon s Order number and circuit ID All the required test results for the circuit Customer s end user contact information: contact name, address, customer and contact phone number Demarc information: location of demarc, jack type, whether the demarc was extended and/or labeled Location of a hard loop or looping plug if the circuit is a T3 circuit CFA Information Once the customer receives the email they can test the circuit at their convenience. Because the order is closed in the Verizon System no response or acceptance is required from the customer once they receive their email. If there is a problem with the circuit after the customer receives the email from Verizon, the customer will need to open a trouble ticket electronically through VTAG or by placing a call to their Verizon Maintenance Center. The URL for VTAG and the telephone number of the maintenance center will be provided in the email. 3
VIPTA Benefits: Receive an email with written test results in place of phone call Eliminates the need for head-to-head testing on certain circuits. Reduces technician hold time. Mechanized process improves overall efficiency Customer can test the circuit at their convenience 24 x 7. Customer can update and manage their VIPTA account on line on our Automatic enrollment database. Customer can access VIPTA completion reports on the Automatic Enrollment Database. This report will give a list of all orders completed through VIPTA. 4
VIPTA Eligibility Requirements Preferred Region-wide utilization of VIPTA Only special access circuits are VIPTA eligible Customer must have an email address for receiving turn-up email scripts. The circuit must have a remotely loopable device. The ACNA submitted on the customer s ASR must match the ACNA built into our VIPTA database. The IMPCON submitted on the customer s ASR must match the IMPCON built into our VIPTA database. (The IMPCON is the test and turn up number submitted on the customer s ASR.) Preferably the customer includes ALL IMPCON numbers at the time of enrollment. The circuit must be a special access DS3, DS1 or a 2 wire DS0 circuit with a loopable device. Order Activity is equal to A or add only new installed circuits will be accepted at this time 5
VIPTA exceptions on circuits that may require joint testing and/or manual turn-up: Sonet orders with no test access. Test access resource difficulties that may compromise the accuracy of the test results. Circuits that do not have a smartjack or loopable device at the customer location. UNE circuits Example of orders that will not be processed via VIPTA: Change Orders Record Order Activity Disconnect Order Activity 6
The VIPTA email sample as shown will have a subject line that will appear in the customer s email box with a description of the circuit type and the customer s PON number. The email will include the following information: Report Trouble: URL link to direct you to our Verizon Trouble Administration Gateway/VTAG site. There is also the maintenance test center number to direct the customer to the appropriate test center if there is a problem Tester s ID; Customer PON number; Verizon s Order number; Customer s Circuit ID; Verizon s Circuit ID, Start Test Requirements: Listing all the tests required for the circuit. OVERVIEW of VIPTA PROCESS Step 1. Customer submits ASR with the eligible IMPCON and ACNA on the order to Verizon. Step 2. The circuit will be physically installed and successfully tested by Verizon. Step 3. The VIPTA email script is populated with all the order information, jack type, demarc location and test results. Step 4. The VIPTA email is sent to the customer s email address or distribution list. Step 5. The order is post completed and closed in Verizon. The customer does not need to respond with acceptance. Step 6. If the customer experiences a problem with the order after the VIPTA email is sent, the customer must open a maintenance ticket to resolve issue. 8
