What are x-rays?

What are x-rays used for?

What is Medical Radiography? It is the art and science of producing medical images using x-radiation (film and digital) A Medical Radiation Technologist produces images that a radiologist interprets to aid in diagnosing a patient Prepares graduates for advanced training and education in imaging specialties such as CT, Breast Imaging, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Role As part of their professional duty, technologists: EXPLAIN procedures to patients. ANSWER questions as fully as possible. CONTRIBUTE to patient education. COMFORT patients and provide emotional support. POSITION patients and equipment correctly. ENSURE that patient, all staff and visitors are protected from radiation. MONITOR patients during the procedure. ASSIST the radiologist for angiographs and interventional procedures. OPERATE the equipment. Source: http://www.camrt.ca/english/profession/rad_tech.asp
