Services range from one to one interventions to group work. Community rehabilitation - for people wanting to be abstinent from alcohol. Primary healthcare brief intervention service - our staff work in GP surgeries and health centres to offer shared care in assessing and screening patients. We offer advice, information and support for pre-dependent drinkers and onward referral for dependent drinkers. Support for those aged 18 or over who may be worried about family member or friend with an alcohol problem. ADS is open to referrals from adults experiencing problems with alcohol and drugs. Leeds Addiction Unit (LAU) Patients presenting with significant complex issues together with alcohol issues should be referred to LAU. Such issues include: Severe and enduring mental illness. Complex poly drug-use / alcohol use. Pregnant patients. A range of treatment including detoxification, individual manual based therapies and service user workbooks. Home visits for individuals who are unable to access the service. A pregnancy service with clinics at St James s Hospital and LAU. A general hospital service for people receiving treatment in Leeds General Infirmary and St James s Hospital. A dual diagnosis team for people experiencing both substance related and mental health problems. Individual one to one therapy. Group therapy. Service user s involvement and peer support group. Self referrals through general practitioners (GP s), community drug treatment services (CDT s), community mental health teams (CMHTs), general hospitals, social services and probation/criminal justice. Or call directly on 0113 295 1318. St Anne s Alcohol Services Inpatient detoxification. Detoxification for individuals who are stable on a substitute methadone prescription. Residential rehabilitation. Community based floating support. Detoxification referrals can be taken from GPs and agreed partners such as ADS and LAU. Rehabilitation referrals can be received from any source. The residential services operate 24 hours, 365 days per year. Carr Beck Carr Beck is a scheme for women drinkers over 16 years old which allows its residents to continue to drink in a safe environment. Young People Services BARCA Leeds-Young People s Harm Reduction Service (Targeted Substance Misuse Service) BARCA Young People s Harm Reduction Service is an alcohol and drug service that works with young people up to the age of 18. It covers the whole of west Leeds. Drugs education - in schools as part of the PSHE curriculum. Group work and drop in - sessions at schools during lunchtimes. Outreach in as many different settings as possible to ensure we reach young people who would not otherwise engage with services. One to one support support to change alcohol and drug habits. We take referrals from professionals, family members and from young people directly. Please call to make a referral during opening times. We work on an appointment and outreach basis and can see young people at Platform, home, school or any other agreed location with the young person. We will ensure that anyone accessing our service is offered a safe, comfortable environment and a worker who will listen and not judge. We believe that confidentiality and trust is a crucial part of our service and our workers will always try to maintain this. One to one casework. Medical services such as substitute prescribing, assessment for medical detoxification, prescribing and advice for alcohol related symptoms, sexual health screening and advice, pregnancy testing, and provision of contraception, mental health assessment. T3 work with the street outreach team to offer services to excluded young people on the streets of Leeds. Professionals and young people can refer to the service. Other Services Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) (National organisation) AA has over 60 years of experience with all kinds of drinkers in all phases of active alcoholism and recovery. The support AA offer is free. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. Sharing experience as peers and hearing experiences of recovered alcoholics. 25 groups meet weekly in Leeds. Patients who are accessing other forms of treatment are welcome to attend meetings. Patients that have decided to aim for abstinence from alcohol can call the 24 hour helpline and attend a meeting on the same day or shortly thereafter. Al-anon groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope. There are several groups that meet across Leeds. There are no waiting lists for groups and it is acceptable to bring a friend to the first meeting for anyone that may be nervous.
