Exámenes de Certificación del Cncimient de Inglés 3 GENERAL INFORMATION The perfrmance expectatins f a candidate fr the Exaver Level Three exam crrespnd t ALTE 3 which, in turn, derives frm the Cuncil f Eurpe s B2 r upper intermediate level as expressed in dcuments such as The Cmmn Eurpean Framewrk f Reference fr Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (latest editin, September 2008) and Vantage (J.A. van Ek and J.L.M. Trim, published by the Cuncil f Eurpe & Cambridge University Press, 2001). At this level learners are able t cpe with transactinal situatins in everyday life, and are able t deal with these when they are prblematic r take an unexpected directin. They are thus able t ask fr repetitin, clarificatin and explanatin in these unpredictable transactins. They can als analyse peple s pinins and argue fr r against them, summarise discussins, express cnclusins and explain reasns fr maintaining r altering their wn arguments, n the basis f reading r discussin. THE EXAMINATION PAPERS FOR 3 There are three examinatin papers fr the Exaver Level Three exam. Paper One: Reading and Writing Cmprehensin Number f questins: 60 Time: 1 hur and 25 minutes Paper One cnsists f five parts. Candidates need t demnstrate cmprehensin f the main ideas and/r specific details f a variety f written texts, as well as their understanding f and use f vcabulary and grammatical structures within a text. Paper Tw: Listening Cmprehensin Number f questins: 25 Time: apprximately 30 minutes Paper Tw cnsists f fur parts. Candidates need t demnstrate cmprehensin f the main ideas and/r specific details f a variety f spken texts, as well as the md(s), pinin(s) and/r attitude(s) f the speaker(s) in a spken text. In sme instances they may als need t deduce the meaning f smething frm the specific cntext f a spken text. Paper Three: Speaking Cmprehensin Number f questins: variable Time: apprximately 15 minutes* Paper Three cnsists f three parts. Candidates take this part f the exam with anther candidate r, in sme instances, with tw candidates. Candidates need t demnstrate their ability t speak abut a range f tpics with the candidate(s) they are paired with, with an examiner and by themselves. *Nte: While, the actual Speaking Test takes apprximately 15 minutes per pair, candidates shuld nevertheless plan t wait up t 2 hurs t take the test, depending n the ttal number f candidates taking the Exaver 3 exam that day.
