WHITE PAPER ROADMAP TO A SINGLE EUROPEAN TRANSPORT AREA TOWARDS A COMPETITIVE AND RESOURCE EFFICIENT TRANSPORT SYSTEM EU needs FREIGHT MULTIMODAL CORRIDORS (energy efficient, low carbon emissions, reliable, low operational costs, advanced management systems ) SEA PORTS have a major role as logistics centers Maritime transport for long distance and intercontinental freight traffic

TrainMoS (Motorways of the Sea - PP1) TRAINING HUMAN ELEMENT FOR EFFICIENT MASSIVE FREIGHT TRANSPORT WITH MARITIME LINKS From Logistic Platform to Logistic Platform

Great efforts have been made in the recent past years to make the Transport European Policy SUSTAINABLE ThenewgrowthoftransportwithIntegratedTransport European Policy has to be SMART SUSTAINABLE INCLUSIVE

I N C L U S I V E Means manpower and jobs. Better jobs with better prepared people and better salaries with better productivity: that means T R A I N I N G Needed a knowledge platform

S M A R T Means research and development. Together with Means TRAINING UNIVERSITY SPECIALIZATION i.e: University specialized courses, workshops, seminars & University Master on MoS

PEOPLE FIRST T R A I N I N G M O S The higher worker technical qualification improves his performance and improves his company competitiveness. A competitive company is able to offer better salaries and social benefits and permits to improve corporate social responsibility i.e. better individual and collective life quality.

QUALIFIED HUMAN CAPITAL Strengthening the human capital of the Motorways of the Sea is necessary for the efficient and effective implementation of multimodal corridors in the EU. Need to strengthen relations between business and training sectors. Universities and training centers have a fragmented view of the sector. Does not exist a vocational education tool for the titulation armonization in the UE that permits workers mobility (i.e. STCW code). Increasing average age of the population in Europe. New generational change needs. Need to develop a mechanism for defining the necessary occupations and skills of this new sector. Continous knowledge updating needed. Global knowledge achieved through local skills.
