The Questions The Survey Why do women make up 2/3 of small accounting firm employees, yet less than 1/5 of partners/owners? What s preventing women from gaining more of a leadership edge in the accounting profession? Small accounting firm employees Partners and Owners The Publication Our goal is to conduct a survey of accounting professionals to examine the questions above and to go deeper than any other previous survey to find answers that will drive profound change. Many other surveys give reasons. We will go further by probing the reason behind the reason. Then we will take an additional step beyond other surveys to provide actionable steps for women to uplevel their careers, their contribution to their firm, and their contribution to the industry. We ll publish our findings in a book that will be available to the profession. page 1 of 8
Accountant s Accel e r a t o r The Opportunity We re hoping to help firms ease their talent shortages by empowering women who are already employed in the profession. As more Baby Boomers retire, the talent shortage will become an acute problem. Also, many women state they are unhappy in accounting. The number of women entering accounting and finance is declining. When we can determine the needs of women that are not being met, firm leaders can make a more conscious decision about whether they can meet those needs. These needs go beyond child care and flex hours. There is something deeper happening here, and I d like to explore it. page 2 of 8
