Carson Scholarship Deadline: January 5th Available to ALL students in ALL grades. A $1000 scholarship is held in trust for students until he / she is accepted into a four year college. Students must pick up an application for consideration and complete an essay before January 5th to be considered. One MVHS student will be nominated for this prestigious award. MD JCI Senate Scholarship January 8th Two $500 scholarships will be granted to graduating Seniors who plan to continue at an accredited college or vocational school. The Maryland recipients will be forward onto the Natinal level for juding of additional scholarships. The rules and application can be found at www.usjcisenate.org or you may stop in the Counseling office for additional details. Burger King Scholars Program- Deadline January 10th $1000, $5000, and $25,000. scholarships are available to all eligible high school seniors and Burger King employees. Details about the application process can be found at: www.haveityourwayfoundation.org / burger_king_scholars_program.html Maryland Mensa Scholarship Deadline: January 15th Maryland Mensa Essay awards scholarships varying from $300.00 to $1000.00 to students who will be enrolled in a degree program of an accredited College for Fall of 2011. Elks National Foundation Scholarships Legacy Award Application Deadline February 1, 2011 Legacy Award applications are available for children and grandchildren of a living Elk Member. The applicant must be a high school Senior and must apply ONLINE ONLY at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/ legacy.cfm. Awards are $1000 per year for 4 years.

Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program Deadline: January 10th Eligibility requirements include being an African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American; are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States; have accumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an un-weighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED; will enroll for the first time in an accredited university in the fall of 2011; have demonstrated leadership abilities, meets the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria; has completed and submitted all required forms by January 10, 2011. US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship Deadline: January 8th $1000 grants will awarded to Seniors in the US who plan to continue their education at accredited colleges, universities and vocational schools. Grants can be used for educational expenses in the first year of full time study. Checks are paid to the recipient and the educational institution. Applications are available in Counseling Office and must be postmarked by January 8, 2011. John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest: Deadline January 8th Essays must demonstrate an understanding of President Kennedy s definition of political courage. First place winner will receive $5000, second-place winner will receive $1000 and up to 5 third place winners will receive $500. All students must register online and essays can be submitted online (preferred) or via regular mail (postmarked by January8th). College $5000 Scholarship recognizes a high school senior who understands and values the limitless possibilities that educations can offer with a scholarship award. Application and criteria can be downloaded at www.ohtheplaces.org or picked up in the school counseling office. Entries must be postmarked by January 15, 2011. The Princeton Prize in Peace Relations-Deadline January 31st. $1000 cash award for a student who is doing outstanding work in their school or community to advance the cause of race relations. Applications can be downloaded from www.princeton.edu/princetonprize or picked up in the Counseling Office. McDaniel Maryland Scholars Program Various Deadlines (Regular Decision January 15 or February 15) The Scholars Program is open to any Maryland resident graduating from high school and entering college for the first time. Eligibility requires SAT scores of 1150 or higher and an ACT score of 25 or higher: cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 or higher,college prep curriculum including a strong senior course load. Detailed information is available in the Student Counseling Office.

Masonic Charities of Maryland Deadline: March 15th Lebanon Lodge #175 of Manchester Maryland and the Grand Lodge of Maryland awards $1000. to a deserving Senior who plans to attend a two or four year accredited institution, is a US and Maryland citizen, is in need of financial ssistance and participates in community and school activities. Applications available in the Student Counseling Office. Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship (Previously the Charles D. Schaffer Scholarship) Deadline: April 1st This scholarship is for student who will attend Carroll Community College as a full time student majoring in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Human Resources Development or other business related courses. Applications are available in the School Counseling Office. The ARC / Timothy J. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Deadline: April 1st Scholarship is awarded to a student who intends to enter a field that will assist or advocate for people with disabilities. Applications are available in the School Counseling Office. NAACP Carroll County Chapter 7014 Scholarship Deadline: April 20th Scholarships will be offered to a minority student of African-American descent who is an active member of the Community and has a GPA of 2.5 or greater. Student must also have been accepted to a college, university or certified trade school. For more information please stop into the Counseling Center. Carroll Community Foundation Scholarships Deadlines vary thru April 30th SEE WEBSITE FOR LISTING OF ALL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE Numerous Scholarships are available to Carroll County students who plan to attend a post secondary institution. Scholarships include: Robert Koermer Scholarship, Susquehanna Bank, Evapco, Helen Pappalardo, Joseph Beaver Honorary Scholarship, Thomas, Bennett and Hunter, Verizon, Mount Airy Centennial, Rager, Lehman and Houck Endowment, Pepsi Bottling, and New Windsor State Bank. Eligibilty requirements vary by scholarship and an application must be completed for EACH scholarship. Applications are available either on the website www.carrollcommunityfoundation.org Carroll County Association for Family and Community Education Scholarship Deadline: April 15th $500 scholarship. Eligibility based on need, academic standing, and extracurricular activities. Applications available in the School Counseling Office.

Carroll Association of School Employees (CASE) Scholarship Fund Deadline: April 15th Scholarship to provide C.A.S.E. members and their children, stepchildren and grandchildren who want to continue their education or are graduating from high school and have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning. Applications are available in the School Counseling Office. AMVETS National Scholarship Program Deadline: April 15th Four year scholarship. Must be used for full time study at either an undergraduate college or university or an accredited technical/trade school leading to a certification or degree. Applications are available in the School Counseling Office. Stu s Music Shop Deadline: April 30th Student must be a High School Senior who plans to attend college in the fall and major in Music. Application can be obtained at Stu s Music Shop, 723 Baltimore Blvd, Westminster: or by writing a letter of inquiry to the Stewart W. Myers Scholarship Committee, c/o Stu s Music Shop. Nathan Blizzard 4H-FFA Scholarship Deadline: April 30th Student must be a graduating Senior, be a current or former 4-H or FFA member in Carroll County and has been accepted to a College or post secondary technical school,. Applications can be obtained at the Carrroll County 4-H office, 700 Agriculture Center, Wesminster, MD 21157, at ww.carrollcommunityfoundation.org or in the Student Counseling Center. BIG SUN Scholarship Deadline: June 23rd All Senior Student athletes are eligible to apply, regardless of the sport. An essay is required answering the following question: What are your most important extracurricular or community activities? What have you done to contribute to them? Abbott & Fenner Deadline: June 18th Applicants will need to complete an essay on the following topic. What have you done outside of the classroom that demonstrates qualities sought after by universities or other educational facilities? Of these, which means the most to you? Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Scholarships State Level POLITICIAL SCIENCE, HISTORY, GOVERNMENT AND ECONOMICS Dr. Aura-Lee Pittenger and James Hobbs Pittenger American History Scholarship: Deadline February 15th $2000 per year for up to four consecutive years to a graduating high school senior who plans to concentrate a minimum of 24 credit hours to American History or American Government while in college. Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship: Deadline February 15th One time award of $1000.00 to a deserving student who enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in political science, history, government or economics. NURSING SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS Caroline Holt Nursing Scholarship: Deadline February 15th One time award of $1000.00 to a student with financial need and has been accepted to or is enrolling in an accredited school of nursing. Madeline Pickett Halbert Cogswell Nursing Scholarship: Deadline February 15th One time award of $1000.00 to a student who has been accepted to or is currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and is a member of the NSDAR. MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIPS Irene and Daisy Macgregor Scholarship: Deadline April 15th $5000.00 awarded for up to four years to students of high scholastic standing and character who has been accepted into or is pursuing an approved course of study to become a medical doctor (no pre-med) at an approved, accredited medical school or in psychiatric nursing. Alice W. Rooke Scholarship: Deadline April 15th A $5000.00 scholarship awarded for up to fours years to students of high scholastic standing and character who have accepted into or are pursuing an approved course of study to become a medical doctor (no pre-med) at appoved, accredited medical schools, colleges and universities. SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship: Deadline April 15th $1000 scholarship for 4 years to a Senior who has been accepted into the Harvey Bernice Jones Leaning Center, University of the Ozarks. Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship: Deadline February 15th $2000 scholarship for 4 years to a well qualified, deserving child of a member of the NSDAR.
