Banquet Speaker Bio Dr. Robert Reed Dr. Reed received a dual B.A. in Zoology and English from the University of California, Berkeley. He continued his education at Arizona State University where he earned a M. S. degree in Zoology. Dr. Reed then pursued and earned his PhD at Auburn University in Biological Sciences. Some of his career highlights include a Fulbright Fellowship in Australia and post-doctoral training in snake ecology with Dr. Whit Gibbons at the University of Georgia s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory. He also worked as an Assistant Professor at Southern Utah University for three years before joining the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 2006 where he is serving as a herpetologist, focusing on snake ecology with field research in the U.S., Central America, Australia, Vanuatu and other Pacific islands. He is a recognized expert in vertebrate invasive species. He is a principal investigator on Brown Treesnake biology and control on Guam; python control research in Florida; boa constrictor ecology in Honduras and Puerto Rico; invasive watersnake control in California and invasive tegu lizards in Florida. He has authored over 50 research articles and book chapters. He is currently serving as a Research Wildlife Biologist and Chief of the Invasive Species Branch at USGS, Fort Collins Science Center. 17
