4 SPEAKER BIO Dr. Peter A. Barone, Esq. possesses a Ph.D., JD, LL.M., and MSM has been in law enforcement since He is currently an Assistant Professor and Chair of a Criminal Justice Program, a Consultant specializing in Officer Involved Shootings; a Certified Force Science Analyst and a military and law enforcement instructor. He began his career in New Jersey and since that time has worked at the city, county, state, federal and military levels. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1992; a member of several other federal and military bars and was a former major crimes felony prosecutor and was crosssworn as a deputy sheriff. He is currently a part time deputy sheriff assigned to the training division and is a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team. He worked for the Metro-Dade Police Department and worked drug related Latin Homicides where he investigated such cases as the Miami River Cops Case, the Police Officer Zore murder case and the 1986 FBI Murders. He is currently in the Retired Reserves after spending 36 years serving in both an active duty and reserve capacity, and has served in the Middle East. He has been the coordinator for two criminal justice programs and is currently the Chair of the Criminal Justice Management Program at Webber International University. He has been teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels for the past 19 years and has been creating and teaching courses for several universities online for the past twelve years. His areas of research are Officer Involved Shootings, Police Use of Force, and Home Invasion Robberies. He has presented, and will be presenting, at numerous conferences in the area of criminal justice for several associations to include the American Society of Criminology s yearly conference last year and again for them in November 2014.
