Open discussion The Rocky Mountain West has been active in enhanced oil & gas recovery operations. However, as the science and technology of the industry has evolved, this industry is expanding across the country and turning what were once thought to be depleted resource assets into producing assets. 4 Many perceptions exist regarding the impacts of enhanced oil & gas recovery efforts. Oftentimes these perceptions go far beyond the economics of industry efforts. They include public health, environmental impacts and the unknown. This session is intended to create the opportunity to facilitate an open discussion on perceptions regulators and public policy makers are dealing with. The opportunity for the industry representatives to address what may be misperceptions will be established during the final session of the day between Attorneys General and Industry representatives. 5 When industry operations begin within a jurisdiction, there are often unintended consequences impacting both communities and the industry. The goal of this session is to explain the scientific process of hydraulic fracturing and to create industry awareness to the economic, political and community relations implications for regulators. 2:30 pm 3 pm Macro View of Economic Impact of Hydraulic Fracturing Moderator: Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel Panelist: Erica Bowman, Vice President of Research and Policy Analysis at America s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA). There are varied perceptions of the econometrics of enhanced oil & gas recovery operations on the economy. From local, state and a federal perspective, there are quantifiable impacts on these various jurisdictions.
