Doctoral/ Graduate Education in Asia and Europe EAHEP Workshop 1 Programme Dates and venue EAHEP Workshop on Doctoral/ Graduate Education: 40-45 Asian and EU participants 8-9 December 2008, at the EC Delegation in Beijing EU-China Meeting on Doctoral/ Graduate Education: 30-40 Chinese and EU participants. 10 December 2008, at the EC Delegation in Beijing The Workshop will take place at the EC Delegation in Beijing, in the San Li Tun district. The accommodation will be coordinated by the organisers of the workshop. Workshop participation is invite-only. Contents and programme for the workshop Plenary and interactive breakout sessions will deal with issues such as: Delivery modes of doctoral programmes; Relation between Masters and Doctorates; Current trends in doctoral education; Enhanced cooperation in doctoral education; Development of good practices with regards to capacity building in doctoral education The results of the workshop will feed into an outcome report, which would comprise the presented case studies, and sets of recommendations on the above mentioned issues. Workshop preparation and follow-up A reader will be put together with reference documents and information on both the theme and Asia-EU HEC, and will be made available prior to the Workshop on the website. A questionnaire will be developed and circulated via the Web community to all participants, inviting them to provide information on doctoral/graduate education in their countries and institutes. The results will be made available in the Workshop working documents, in order to enhance exchange and understanding between participants. Concrete outcomes for this Workshop will be: Workshop summary report incl. case studies, best practices, recommendations for institutions for development of research graduate programmes, for Asia Europe cooperation in graduate education, and for capacity building ; A similar report will be developed for teh EU-China meeting Presentation of results at 2 nd RT in Europe, May/June 2009 (tentatively) ; Follow-up by through stakeholder initiatives, among others through EUA-CDE and at the International Forum on Graduate Education ; Follow up discussion threads on website.
