Backgrund IT Services was established in January 2007 by the current Directr f IT by merging a range f previusly fragmented rganisatins. The emphasis was initially n the creatin f an effective, custmer fcussed rganisatin with an apprpriate gvernance framewrk, ITIL based service supprt disciplines and prject and prtfli management prcesses. The fcus then shifted t mdernising the IT infrastructure, widening the service prtfli t prvide cmprehensive supprt t all areas f University (particularly t underpin research activity) and implementing the standards and service management tls needed t deliver service t 23,000 students and 4,000 staff in a cst effective manner. With this infrastructure mdernisatin prgramme substantially cmplete IT Services is ready t mve t the next stage in its develpment. Develpment and Integratin Services The Develpment and Integratin Services team reprts t the Deputy Directr IT, Systems Design and Develpment. It is respnsible fr sftware develpment, quality standards and data integratin systems. It sets testing strategy and standards, and advises ther teams n hw t undertake testing effectively. IT similarly defines cding standards and methdlgies. It runs the data integratin technlgy platfrm based n SAP PI and has a particularly imprtant rle in designing and implementing the data integratin interfaces between majr applicatin systems. It is the centre f expertise fr these areas and respnsible fr apprpriate skills and capability develpment within the IT Operatins team. It spts pprtunities t apply new features and technlgies in new ways that will supprt the team s purpse and highlights these t the Partnering team. Yur Rle Yu will reprt t the Manager, Develpment and Integratin Services. Yu will be an experienced database develper with a detailed knwledge f relatinal and multidimensinal database techniques (pssibly having utilised frmal methds such as Kimble). Yur experience f large scale systems such as SAP and SITS makes yu the Centre f Excellence fr all data and infrmatin held within IT Services Slutins. Yu are as cmfrtable translating business infrmatin needs frm nn-technical clleagues as yu are supprting the needs f highly technical develpment teams. Yur knwledge and experience develping and perfrmance tuning database slutins give yu credibility amngst yur DBA clleagues in applicatins services and peratins. Principal Accuntabilities T assist in the develpment and enhancement f IT Service database and infrmatin slutins: Liaise with clients within IT Services and the brader University t gather requirements. Mdify databases and prducts accrding t university needs. Help t create functinal requirements. Prvide technical assistance within the area f database develpment and data management.
