Student Supprt Prfessinal Reprts t: Principal Lakehead District Schl Bard has develped extensive prgramming t meet the needs f all special educatin students. T assist classrm teachers t deal with the prblems inherent in prviding individualized educatin t special educatin students, the Bard prvides para-prfessinal assistance in the frm f Student Supprt Prfessinal. Rle Respnsibilities Prvide assistance t students individually r in small grups thrugh implementatin f educatinal prgram directed by the teacher. Cntribute t the educatinal plans by prviding input t the teacher in the designing f prgrams. Assist teachers in student evaluatin thrugh bservatin, recrding and/r data cllectin. Attend t the physical needs f the student by prtering, feeding, tileting, administering medicatin, prviding maintenance therapy and prmting gd persnal hygiene. Ensure a safe envirnment thrugh supervisin f students during arrivals and departures, lunches, recesses, and in the classrm during the teacher s brief unscheduled absences. Cntribute t daily lessns, activities and prgrams by assisting the teacher in ensuring the availability f learning materials and equipment. Prvide a psitive envirnment fr integratin f the students thrugh effective cmmunicatin and invlvement with all staff and students. As a member f the schl team, cntribute t effective cmmunicatin thrugh ral and/r written techniques, t establish and maintain a harmnius and prductive relatinship with all persns invlved with students. Schl Scial Wrk & Attendance Cunselling Rles and Respnsibilities T act as liaisn between the schl and the hme by: cmmunicating t the family the resurces f the schl/bard supprt services and cmmunity agencies. cmmunicating the cncerns f the child and the family t the schl in rder t prvide maximum educatinal pprtunities fr the individual student. T develp and maintain a clse liaisn with schl persnnel thrugh regular\schl visits and, if necessary, identify students t special service teams. T develp and maintain a clse liaisn with ther supprt persnnel, bth within the Bard and utside agencies, in an attempt t ensure that all available resurces utilized in serving the students needs. T assume primary respnsibility fr reslving severe attendance cases and, if necessary, use the Prvincial Curt. Such actin wuld nrmally fllw the exhaustin f ther internal and cmmunity resurces. T initiate the use f prtective services with regard t yung peple shwing evidence f neglect r abuse as stated in the Child and Family Services Act. T advise parents f cmmunity resurces which can ffer them help if there are difficulties in the hme which affect students attendance r welfare. T act as a liaisn fr the SAL Cmmittee with the schl, student, parents, and emplyer, by preparing and presenting pertinent infrmatin.
