All CEFAM courses are taught in English from the 1st year onwards. The CEFAM program is organized by course modules; as a result, each student s program is personalized and may be adapted each semester to their needs and abilities as necessary. Courses are limited to 30 students per class and no classes are taught in large impersonal lecture halls. Class meeting are structured to allow for exchange and discussion and provide an opportunity for students to develop critical thinking skills, high intellectual standards, team spirit, and curiosity. Each element of the CEFAM program (course modules, internships, seminars, etc.) is mandatory for all students and is included in CEFAM s degree requirements and transfer agreements with its partner universities. Term 1: May July Start with Lyon for a taste of French gastronomy The Gap Year Program begins with an intensive Summer School through which students will be able to improve their level in French while starting business courses in English. Term 2: September - December Continue with Nantes to discover Brittany and the Mont Saint Michel Students will continue to improve their French language skills while studying business modules (e.g.: marketing, accounting, introduction to law, economics, international culture & civilization ). Term 3: February - June Finish your Gap Year spending Spring near the Côte d Azur This last term allows students to continue French classes, to take more business modules in English (e.g.: strategic marketing, financial analysis, business games) and to prepare, if they wish to, the national entry exams to French Grandes Ecoles and more specifically, to IDRAC programs. Throughout the whole Gap Year, social activities, cultural trips and other events will be offered to students. APPLICATION The Gap Year program is not a degree program. It is open to all students holding a high school diploma. Students shall send their completed application form together with other requested documents. Intake is flexible: it is possible to start in any of the 3 terms and choose the duration (1 to 3 terms). VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE If you are not a citizen of a European Union member country, Andorra, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Norway or Switzerland, you must apply for a long stay student visa (more than 90 days) to study in France. The Visa CANNOT be issued once the applicant is in France. Our schools require you to obtain a student visa in order to attend the school. You cannot apply for the visa more than 3 months before the star t of the program. ATTENTION: the following information is provided to the best of our knowledge. Although we try to keep our information current, we recommend that you check directly with the French Consulate. STUDENTS ENROLLED IN SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES IN FRANCE FOR LONGER THAN 90 DAYS ARE REQUIRED TO: 1. Register to Campus France A ll students MUST apply and obtain permission through Campus France BEFORE they can begin the application process with their appropriate consulate. NO VISA WILL BE GRANTED BY FRENCH CONSULATES WITHOUT ENROLLMENT TO CAMPUS FRANCE. Officially, the Campus France process takes 2 weeks. However, at busy times of the year, it can take up to 4 weeks. www.campusfrance.org/en 2. Obtain a student visa at the appropriate Consulate O nce you get the approval from Campus France, you must apply for your visa which is usually granted within 2-3 weeks at the nearest French consulate. Students must complete and submit a long stay student visa application for stays of 3-12 months to their appropriate Consulate. CORPORATE PLACEMENTS & ERASMUS Most of the programs include one or several corporate placement periods during which the students acquire real professional experience in a company. The schools assist the students in finding companies for the corporate placement period with Career Management training sessions. These training sessions are designed to allow the students to formulate a professional project, and develop the student s job search skills. The workshops are facilitated by HR professionals and recruiters. The schools allow the students to avail of their combined network of more than 8 800 companies to identify corporate placement opportunities. CORPORATE PLACEMENTS IN FRANCE AND MINIMUM PAYMENT By law, any corporate placement in France that lasts longer than two months must be paid. The minimum payment for a student in a corporate placement is currently 436,05 per month. Foreign students in France do not need a work permit to engage in a work placement program if it is a defined component of the curriculum. This is the case with our work placements. CORPORATE PLACEMENTS IN EUROPE AND ERASMUS GRANTS The schools have been awarded Erasmus charters by the European Commission. Students who choose to undertake a corporate placement abroad in one of the European member states or Croatia, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey can benefit from the Erasmus program of the European Commission. The Erasmus program allows the schools to award grants to those students.
