E.ON Energy Trading is offering a limited number of traineeships to talented individuals who would like to work at the heart of global energy markets for one of the world s largest power and gas companies. Our program starts twice a year in May/June and November/December. A dynamic, international business As the link between E.ON and the international wholesale energy markets, E.ON Energy Trading buys and sells electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, freight, biofuels, and emissions certificates. Design a program to suit your needs Placements at home and abroad The program consists of four placements three at our headquarters in Düsseldorf plus a fourth placement that gives you the opportunity to work at an E.ON subsidiary abroad. The six-month home placement at the end of the program completes your traineeship. Hands-on experience and qualification The program consists of various units designed to help you immerse yourself in all aspects of the energy industry and develop your knowledge of the traded markets. You will also have the opportunity to acquire a Trading Certificate, which qualifies you to trade at the European Energy Exchange in Leipzig. Mentoring A personal mentor will help you design a program that is tailor-made so that you will meet your career objectives. Your mentor will also offer you guidance and support you when the time comes to applying for a permanent placement at the conclusion of your traineeship. A network to last a lifetime At every step of the program you will have the chance to make contacts throughout the business, which you can use to help you plan future placements and your career. Monthly trainee lunches and a bi-annual dinner, attended by all participants and mentors, will also offer you a chance to share your experiences and learn from others. We re looking for tomorrow s leaders today You should have a university degree with a strong quantitative focus and excellent grades in either finance, economics, energy economics, engineering sciences, industrial engineering, mathematics, physics or a similar subject. You will also have gained some relevant practical experience during the course of your studies, ideally abroad. You speak fluent English and, preferably, other foreign languages as well. You re a self-starter and an independent thinker. You re flexible and motivated, have a structured way of working and are a team player with strong communication skills. Do you have what it takes? Philipp Schroff, E.ON Energy Trading A unique opportunity I began working at E.ON Energy Trading in February 2009 with my university thesis in market analysis. The Trading Qualification Program immediately gave me the chance to gain unique insights into the trading business as well as the wider E.ON Group. The program is very flexible. You can choose to focus on a specific commodity or broaden your knowledge through an introduction to a number of different markets. Generally speaking, the program is designed to expose you to all aspects of the business, from the trading floor to the back office. Not only do I understand how the different departments interact with one another, but I am also able to develop a large and sustainable network for myself. As a trainee, I value the opportunity to learn from others and, of course, the chance to gain professional experience in such a vibrant business.
