Featuring attendance from all continents 148 different countries and 1,874 companies, it felt like the whole world of wholesale was in Chicago last week! Official Opening Keynote Welcoming delegates to the evening, declaring the 2014 edition of ITW officially open and giving a short speech setting the scene for an engaging three days of debate, was Alexandre Pébereau, Chairman of the ITW Founders Council and EVP, International Carriers, Orange. Alexandre set the keynote speech firmly in context with his remarks about the importance of working towards connecting the unconnected as well as the new era of the Internet of Things. Opening Keynote CIL Summit Conference Sessions TSF Charity 5km Fun Run Networking at ITW 2014 New for 2014 Your Feedback Four packed days with the leading players in the wholesale eco-system. This is the must-attend event of the year. Brendan Ives President, TELIASONERA INTERNATIONAL CARRIER With lots of new events and features at this year s event, this newsletter will share some of the highlights and statistics that I hope you will enjoy reading! Story continued on page 2 With greater participation and diverse topics on our evolving and exciting industry, ITW 2014 continued to demonstrate why it is the telecommunications industry s leading event; a must for AT&T s interaction with customers and suppliers! John Slamecka, VP-Global Wholesale & Access Solutions, AT&T

ITW 2014 NEWSLETTER 2 Opening Keynote cont With more than 1,200 participants in the audience, the choice of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, was certainly popular. And topical too as the audience had the chance to ask Sir Tim about his vision then and now, in this the 25th anniversary of the invention of the web. Sir Tim was interviewed by celebrated broadcaster Bill Kurtis and this year also offered attendees the chance to use the new Twitter boards and tweet questions direct to Sir Tim! In his lively opening speech and the interview following, Sir Tim shared with the audience that keeping the World Wide Web open is his proudest achievement to date. He underlined the importance of the work of the wholesale community in the development of the web. In his view, it s good to think about the internet as a utility because it is something that is very core to modern-day life. Tackling the challenges that are presented by the web today, as well as the opportunities, Sir Tim acknowledged that there is now a battleground to control the internet, with governments taking a bigger role in how people access the service. And with spying over the web becoming an increasing issue, he warned against political institutions using the technology for political purposes. FAST FACTS 6,039 attendees 148 countries 1,874 companies The third ITW in Chicago was the biggest and the best so far. Only at ITW do we get to meet so many of our key business partners from all over the world in one place. That ITW is now increasingly moving beyond its foundation in voice and roaming services to embrace cloud-based capabilities and applications only enhances its value as the must do event of our year Andrew Dodsworth, COO, BT GLOBAL TELECOMS MARKET ITW is the most efficient event to interact with carriers from all over the world Holger Magnussen, SVP, DEUTSCHE TELEKOM ICSS

ITW 2014 NEWSLETTER 3 CIL Panel Discussion Confidence, Innovation, Leadership Summit The conference sessions at ITW 2014 began with the unveiling of the results of the C100 survey, which outlined the views from the global wholesale leaders. 300 people were in attendance for the panel moderated by Bill Kurtis, and featuring a fantastic line up which included Daniel Kurgan, CEO, BICS, Shawn Henry, President, CROWDSTRIKE SERVICES, Holger Magnussen, SVP, DEUTSCHE TELEKOM ICSS, Dave Welch, Co-Founder and President, INFINERA, Denver Maddux, Senior Director, MICROSOFT and Will Hughes, Global Head of OTT, TELSTRA GLOBAL. On the thematic side, fraud and security concerns were at the forefront of the CIL panel discussion. Shawn Henry, President at CROWDSTRIKE SERVICES and former FBI director cyber division commented on the growing disconnect between the two in the industry, and warned that the risks for data theft could be on the rise, which will result in severe network consequences. During the panel it was also revealed that 82% of the carrier market surveyed sees the OTT market as an opportunity rather than a threat. The panel agreed that OTTs are driving new consumer behaviours, which are expected to generate more messaging and voice trends. "There's this large perception that OTTs think that all messaging is going over the top," said panel member Will Hughes, Global Head of OTT at TELSTRA GLOBAL. "But when we looked at some of our SMS revenues, they were remaining flat, if not growing in some parts." Conference Sessions Day two began with a very interesting conference session: Spotlight on Africa: Collaboration, Innovation and Content, which was sponsored by MAINONE CABLE COMPANY and moderated by Funke Opeke, CEO, MAINONE CABLE COMPANY. The session featured a star panel of Andrew Dodsworth, COO, BT GLOBAL TELECOMS MARKET, Jerzy Szlosarek, COO, EPSILON, Byron Clatterbuck, CCO, SEACOM and Kebaso George Mokogi, Chief Carrier Services Officer, TELEKOM KENYA. The session focused on the African market and outlined the opportunities driven by the increasing data boom. Day two s session then moved to the Redefining Content and Carrier Relations for Mutual Benefit session, which further explored the changing dynamics of the content/carrier relationship, exploring mutual leveraging opportunities. The session, moderated by Jim Davis, Senior Analyst, 451 RESEARCH, included expert panelists Mahesh Jaisankar, VP, DATAMENA, du, Najam Ahmad, Director, Networking, FACEBOOK, Andrew Kwok, President, International & Carrier Business, HUTCHISON GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS and Michael Wheeler, EVP, Global IP Network, NTT COMMUNICATIONS. The conference sessions on the third day kicked off with Innovation Beyond Connectivity: IPX, M2M, NFC, LTE & Wifi Roaming, SDN, which put the spotlight on IPX migration, and how OTT and mobile operators can leverage IPX. Another popular discussion was on how to capitalise on Big Data and the Internet of things. The session was moderated by Catherine Haslam, Senior Analyst, Wholesale, OVUM and included the fantastic five panelists; Alexandre Pébereau, EVP, International Carriers from ORANGE, Marc Halbfinger, CEO, PCCW GLOBAL, Wilfred Kwan, COO, GLOBAL CLOUD XCHANGE, Eduardo Guardincerri, CMO, Wholesale at TELEFONICA GLOBAL SOLUTIONS and Brendan Ives, President, TELIASONERA INTERNATIONAL CARRIER. The closing session of ITW focused on M&A and Consolidation: Strategies for Inorganic Growth in the Telco Space, which is a very topical theme for carriers this year around the world. The session was moderated by Mike Conradi, Partner, DLA PIPER, and featured Uwe Nickl, CSO from EUNETWORKS, Jack Lodge, President, GLOBAL CAPACITY, Bjarni Thorvardarson, CEO, HIBERNIA NETWORKS, Renzo Ravaglia, EVP, Service Provider, INTEROUTE and Martijn Blanken, Managing Director, TELSTRA GLOBAL. The speakers sparked a lively debate on the impact on competition consolidation has had on the global market space, and highlighted that through strategic acquisitions, carriers can achieve growth by outsourcing innovation and accessing emerging technologies. The session concluded that consolidation will happen and be driven by the market of internet of things. MEETME STATS 3,007 users 53,865 meeting requests 48,629 messages sent

ITW 2014 NEWSLETTER 4 The 5km Télécoms Sans Frontières Fun Run With nearly $12,500 raised for our nominated charity, Télécoms Sans Frontières; about 100 runners lined up on a cooler morning than last year, for the starting ribbon to be cut by our run sponsors, ibasis and Orange. Runners were treated to a special warm up courtesy of ITW s own Mr Motivator! Winning the 5km race in an impressive 18 minutes 14 seconds was Sprint sprinter Paul Joseph, closely followed by Ken Robinson of RouteTrader Exchange in 18 minutes 22 seconds and then in third place Chris McKee from GTT in a speedy 19 minutes. The team prize was scooped by Telekom Austria. Well done to everyone who got up so early and supported this cause. And a big thank you to ibasis and Orange for their generous support of TSF. Thanks to the Hyatt for donating the much needed water to revive the runners, some of whom were suffering the after effects of the range of ITW parties the previous evening!
