Online SAS - data centre in Vitry sur Seine, France 8 May 2013 Datacenter is using outdoor vegetable oilimmersed transformers Only one stage of power transformation (20kV to 410V) in order to optimize efficiency and reliability, Cooling system is using outdoor dry-coolers in closed cooling circuit. Chilled water system is using a specific water temperature 9 C-19 C with 10 C water temperature drop difference. This specific water temperature permits to double all cooling exchange with the same water volume. High free-chilling capacity using heat exchangers between dry-coolers and chilled water can be used in a mixed configuration (chillers and free-cooling) between 14,5 C to 4,5 C outdoor and in absolute configuration (free-cooing only) on outside temperature below 4,5 C All the data center is using cold-aisle containment by default in order to get a return air to CRAC at more than 31 C 6 PUE = 1.35
TISSAT SA data centre Walhalla in Castellon, Spain An advanced structural design (e.g. using the Hot Aisle Containment System ) solving the tradeoff between the high availability needs of Tier IV DC and the reduction of energy consumption. Construction of an eco-efficient building. Generation of primary energy and cooling with Trigeneration. Limitation of the power lost with the use of UPS allowing 99.9% of energy use. Using the air conditioning condenser for rationalizing energy consumption of air conditioning. certified in ISO 50.001, ISO 14.001 and Spanish AENOR s EA-0044 DC Energetic Sustainability Certification 8 May 2013 7
Winner of the Award 2013 Category Refurbished Data Centres 8
Univerisity of St Andrews data centre Butts Wynd Data Centre, UK Dual Coil free cooling system with EFC and ultimately water-cooled DX Dry air coolers inside the plant room Variable speed pumps and fans Generator installed on the rejection side of the dry air coolers Reuse of waste heat 250kW data centre Design PUE of 1.2 Removed equipment from and turned off old inefficient AC equipment in other areas Systems designed to be resilient, and to allow testing without disruption Most of our older spaces were significantly worse than 8 May 2013 sector average 9
United Nation Support Base data centre in Valencia, Spain Solar panel installation Phase A (February 2012) 700 solar panels 280 Watt each (196 KW peak, 300 MWh per year), Phase B (September 2014), 1080 solar panels 300 Watt each (324 KW peak, 500 MWh per year) UPS in power Efficiency boosting mode Estimated savings: Around 350 MWh per year PVC Curtains in Data Center Cold Aisle Free cooling System Hours of free cooling: Around 3000 hours per year Estimated Annual Savings: 180 MWh per year Data Center Infrastructure Management Software Monitorization of power consumption of the different electrical systems, main electrical panels and all the PDU located in the racks. An automatic light control system has been implemented in order to switch off unnecessary lights in the Data Center out of working hours. 10
