Aquarium Facts, Fees, Food and More! Reservations Reservations are required in advance for homeschool days and/or monthly homeschool programs. Fees must be paid at the time of reservation. Age and grade level must be provided when making the reservation. To make a reservation, call 410-576-3833 beginning July 13, 2011 at 9 a.m. Be sure to reserve early and take advantage of the educational resources provided at aqua.org/teachers. Confirm the reservation. Upon receipt of your reservation acknowledgement, verify all information and return the signed agreement. You must confirm your reservation at least 21 days prior to your visit to prevent cancellation. You will receive a pre-trip planning packet with useful information for everything you need to know before your visit. Cancellation and Refund Policy You must cancel your reservation more than 21 days in advance of your scheduled visit to receive a full refund of payments. If you cancel your reservation less than 21 days in advance, or fail to arrive at your scheduled entry time, you forfeit the deposit and all program fees. Dining Options For the health and safety of our animals, no food, beverages, lunches or gum may be brought into the Aquarium. Unfortunately, we do not have space to store lunches. Pre-Order Box Lunches: Place your order five business days in advance and it will be waiting for you in the Pier 4 Pavilion Atrium Cafe. Enjoy the Aquarium Cafes: We welcome you to dine in one of the Aquarium s Cafes, located in the Glass Pavilion on Pier 3 and the Atrium on Pier 4. Bag lunches are not allowed in any of the Aquarium Cafes. Dining Out: Eat outside in the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Waterfront Park or at one of the nearby food vendors. Chaperones can have their hands stamped for easy re-entry. Funding from the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Education Endowment Fund and the Maryland State Department of Education supports the educational goals of the National Aquarium, Baltimore venue. Education Programs for Homeschoolers Homeschool Days September 13 15, 2011 Designed for homeschool families/groups (ages 5 and up), each half-day session features a different environmental theme and includes an interactive presentation, a classroom activity and/or a discovery lab. This is an opportunity for parents and students to learn together, so parents, please plan on attending with your student. Please provide the reservationist with your student s grade level so we can plan accordingly. Education Programs for Homeschoolers NEW! Careers at the Aquarium Thursday, December 15, 2011 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Is your student interested in learning about a career at the National Aquarium? In our brand new Careers at the Aquarium program, students will spend a morning learning about what it is like to work at the Aquarium! You will have a chance to go behind the scenes for an exclusive look at how we care for animals here at the National Aquarium as well as meet the Aquarium s professional animal care staff. Students receive practical ideas about college courses and majors, and how to gain experience in the field. Appropriate for students in grades 6-12 or the equivalent. $40 per student $58.95 per student 4
Monthly Programs for Homeschoolers Join Aquarium educators for these exciting monthly programs of age- and grade-appropriate themed programs, specifically for homeschool students. These programs are designed for smaller groups that do not meet the minimum requirement of our regular weekly programs attend one program or all five. Programs are for students only, but parents may tour the Aquarium during this time. Students must be accompanied into the Aquarium by an adult. Drop-offs and pick-ups are not permitted. THE MUDDY FEET AWARD The National Aquarium created the Muddy Feet Award to recognize young people who inspire others through their conservation actions. The award goes to individuals who take action toward solving an important environmental issue in their community. The award recognizes the recipients determination and willingness to get their hands (and feet!) dirty in the course of action.
