Minimum charge for set solid classified is 3 lines. Count 4 words. b. All set solid classified is charged by computer generated line count. c. Classified display ads must be as many inches deep as columns wide. d. Classified display ads are charged at 14 agate lines to the inch. e. Classified display ads do not run in column and position is not guaranteed. 1

Bold Face Type - Use of Bold Face agate 8 pt. to 18 pt. type in single column ads helps the ad stand out. The charge for bold is 40 extra per agate line per day, for every line in the ad. h. Company Logo: Your company logo can be set in any classified ad. The only charge to advertisers is for the actual space used. New logos require 24 hours additional time. i. Special Services: Creative Services department can provide layout, copy, artwork, 2 campaigns 60.00 per hour for finished artwork. No charge for layouts or copy. Photographic Services: Arrangements may be made for a photographer (as available) to take pictures of people or merchandise to be used in advertisements. Photos: 25.00-1st photo 15.00-2-9 photos 10.00-10 or more photos Extra copies of special sections There is a charge for this service, depending on number, and extra copies must be ordered in advance. Proofs delivered or emailed free for classified display ads 10 column inches or larger, provided all copy has been submitted by deadline. 7. COPY REGULATIONS AND POLICIES a. The publisher reserves the right to edit, revise, properly classify or reject advertising copy which does not conform to its rules and regulations. b. Dealers clearly indicate that they are dealers either by their firm name or the word "agent." c. In regard to employment advertising, all offers of employment should state the work to be performed. Since ads are alphabetized within the proper classification, they should start out with a key word which indicates the type of work. Sales employment advertisements should name the product or service to be sold. If money is mentioned, copy should state how earnings are paid (salary, commission, draw, etc.). If a fee is required, that should be indicated in the ad. d. All business opportunity, franchise or other investment ads will be investigated through our local BBB or other fact finding boards, and will require additional time to complete research necessary in an attempt to establish acceptance. Name of company must appear in ad. e. The publisher reserves the right to change without notice, the closing times for advertising copy, its rates, rules and regulations. f. Failure to make an order correspond to the rate card will be regarded as a clerical error and the advertisement will be inserted and charged for at the regular schedule of rates then in force. g. Credit for errors in advertisements will be allowed for the first insertion only and shall not exceed the cost of the actual space occupied by the ad, or portion thereof, in which the error occurs. h. Claims for allowances of errors should be made within 15 days from the date of invoice. i. Requests for references will be understood to mean one bank reference and at least two business references. j. Because of the time required to check references, advertising requiring references should be received at least seven days in advance of deadline. k. The publisher does not assume liability or financial responsibility for typographical errors or omissions. l. Any response to any advertisement listing a box number assigned to an advertiser whether the identity of the advertiser is disclosed or not disclosed, shall be given to the advertiser without being opened and without any manner of screening or approval whatsoever. The Advocate does not offer and does not contract to have any confidential business, employment or agency relationship with either the advertiser or any respondent, and specifically disclaims any such relationship. The Advocate shall not be responsible for any disclosures, loss of responses or misdirection of responses. Confidentiality shall be maintained to the extent permitted by law; The Advocate shall comply with all subpoenas following notice to the advertiser and opportunity to intervene.

m. The advertiser agrees to indemnify the publisher against any and all liabilities and expenses, including payment of judgments and attorney's fees and costs, arising from any and all claims involving the contents of any advertisements published. n. The advertiser agrees to assume sole responsibility for statements contained in his copy and to protect Capital City Press LLC against any and all liability, loss or expense arising out of claims of libel, unfair trade practices, unfair competition, infringement of trademarks, names of patents, copyrights and all violations of the right of privacy resulting from publication of the advertiser s copy. 8. ELECTRONIC PREPARATION The Advocate is offset printed from electronic paginated pages using 110 line screen. All digital photos should be a minimum of 220 dpi and no greater than 300 dpi and cropped to actual run size. Quality of supplied artwork, electronic ads and photos do significantly impact the quality of the printed product. The Advocate Creative Services uses Macintosh Format Equipment. When submitting a press-ready ad requiring no extra work on or before deadline, it must meet all of the following criteria. Adobe PDF is the preferred ad format. PDF ads can be uploaded at aduploads.theadvocate.com or sent to us by e-mail at csv@theadvocate.com. All PDF files must be created using Acrobat Distiller 7 or greater and either Press Optimized or Creative Services approved job options. All fonts in the PDF should be embedded. PC/Windows ads should be sent as Acrobat PDF files. All disks must be labeled with the account s name, publication date and return address. Acceptable Mac applications in order of preference: Acrobat In Design Quark Xpress Illustrator Photoshop Non-PDF submissions must include all files necessary to process the job including screen and printer Postscript Type 1 fonts, all EPS and TIFF files. All color print ads should use appropriate CMYK values No RGB, Lab, Pantone or other spot color methods accepted. The press screen line ruling is 110. All associated pictures should be no lower than 220 dpi and no greater than 300 dpi. TrueType fonts are strongly discouraged as we cannot guarantee output. Type 1 font substitutions may be made when available and with the client s approval. The Advocate cannot be responsible for improperly prepared submissions. Terms & Conditions a. Purchaser agrees to furnish all copy, art and other components necessary for production of advertisement prior to the times established by the publisher as deadlines. b. Retail rates in this card are available only to those businesses in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Acadiana Metro area doing a retail to consumer business. General and Classified rates available upon request. c. The publisher assumes no responsibility for the omission of any advertisement, or for any errors above the value of the actual space occupied by such error in advertisements submitted after published deadlines. Credit will not be given for such errors. The publisher reserves the right to edit, alter or omit any advertisement. d. Special or specified position cannot be guaranteed. e. Should the minimum space contracted for not be used within the contract period, the advertiser agrees to pay the difference between the inch rate contracted for and the rate for actual inches used. f. Preprint coverage areas will be matched as closely as possible to advertiser request based on zoning capability. The Advocate is not responsible for adjustments in coverage not requested by the client through an insertion order, and will not review any variances past 180 days. g. Community newspapers are distributed in select zip codes and require both subscriber and non-subscriber coverage for inclusion in those zip codes. h. The advertiser agrees to indemnify the publisher against any and all liabilities and expenses, including payment of judgments and attorney s fees and costs, arising from any and all claims involving the contents of any advertisements published. i. The advertiser agrees to assume sole responsibility for statements contained in his copy and to protect Capital City PressLLCagainstanyandallliability,lossorexpensearising outofclaimsoflibel,unfairtradepractices,unfaircompetition, infringementoftrademarks,namesofpatents,copyrightsand all violations of the right of privacy resulting from publication of the advertiser s copy.
