KANTECH SCHEDULED EVENTS INSTALLATION MANUAL Before you begin you will need to have downloaded the software and received your license from the Multi Tech Reps webstore. You may also need your Windows installation disk or download as well as your EntraPass installation disk or download. In order to install the Scheduled Events Software you will need to complete a few preliminary steps. Some of these items may have been enabled during the initial EntraPass install. These steps need to be completed on the PC or server that runs the EntraPass Server and Gateway applications. The estimated installation time is 4 hours, however if the PC or server you are installing the software on is missing some of the required components or services the process could take longer. Visit http://bit.ly/scheduledevents_net35 to download the.net 3.5 installer. b. Navigate to the downloaded file and launch the installer. c. Complete the installation process and move on to step 2. 2. Enable IIS in Windows. You may need the Windows install disk for this. a. Click Start, click Run, type Appwiz.cpl, and then click OK. b. In the Add/Remove Programs window, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
c. In the Components box of the Windows Components Wizard, click to select the Internet Information Services (IIS) check box. d. In the Windows Components Wizard, click Next. e. When the Windows Components Wizard completes the installation, click Finish. For more information about this step please visit: http://www.iis.net/, the official Microsoft IIS site. 3. Register EntraPass Server and Gateway as a service (if not already done). a. Before beginning make sure the Server, Gateway and SmartLink are not running. b. Click Start and select All Programs. Select EntraPass Corporate Edition from the menu, then Server, then Server Service Control. c. The Server Service icon will appear in your System Tray near the clock (see figure 1). Figure 1 d. Right click on the Server Service Control icon in the system tray and select Install Windows Service from the pop-up menu. e. Right click the icon a second time and select Start Windows Service from the menu. To verify the service is running wait a few seconds and right click the icon a third time. If the option to Stop Windows service is active, and Start Windows service is grayed out the service is running. f. Repeat the above steps to register the Gateway as a service as well. Choosing Gateway Service Control from the All Programs menu instead.
4. Install the EntraPass Smartlink application. If you have installed the SmartLink prior to now you may skip this step and continue with step 5. You will need the EntraPass Software Installer to complete this step. a. Launch the EntraPass Setup Wizard by double-clicking the setup.exe file on your EntraPass CD and click next to begin the installation. b. Select Install EntraPass System components and click next. c. Select SmartLink from the list of components. If you are unable to select SmartLink you have already installed the component and may continue to step 5. d. Enter your SmartLink serial number and click next. If you do not have the serial number follow the steps below: i. Launch the EntraPass Workstation. ii. iii. On the Options tab select System Registration. Copy the SmartLink Installation code shown in the System Registration window. e. When asked if you want to install BDE say yes. f. Restart your computer once the installation has finished. 5. Install EntraPass SmartLink as a service. (if not already done). a. Repeat step 2 above, selecting SmartLink Service Control from the All Programs menu. b. Register install and start Windows service by right clicking the SmartLink Service icon in the system tray. 6. Install the SmartLink Network Interface using the EntraPass Software Installer. a. Launch the installer by double-clicking the setup.exe file on the EntraPass CD and click next to begin the installation process. b. Select Install EntraPass system tools and click next. c. Select SmartLink Network Interface and click next. d. Restart your computer once the installation is complete. 7. Enable messages and commands for SmartLink Network Connection. a. On the Devices tab, select EntraPass Application. b. Select SmartLink from the EntraPass Application drop-down menu.
c. On the SmartLink tab enable Messages and commands for both the SmartLink serial and network connections (see figure 2). Click close and save your changes. Figure 2 8. Enable concurrent logins in EntraPass for any user that needs to use the Scheduled Events software (including the superuser). a. On the System tab select Operator. b. Select a superuser from the Operator drop-down menu. On a new install this will typically be Installer. c. On the Security tab select Enabled with concurrent logins from WebStations from the Concurrent logins drop-down menu (see figure 3). d. Click close and save your changes.
Figure 3 Once steps 1-5 are complete you may begin installation of the Scheduled Events program.
Installing Scheduled Events Installing and configuring the software is a three-step process: 1. Scheduled Events software installation 2. Configuring a WebView for Scheduled Events integration with EntraPass v4.xx 3. Configuring and activating the Scheduled Events software. 1. Software Installation 1) Download the Scheduled Events software from the Multi-Tech Web store. 2) Unzip the contents of Kantech Scheduled Events Installation.zip to a temporary folder. 3) Install Scheduled Events by running the setup.exe in the installation package. 4) Follow the prompts in the installation process. 2. WebView Programming Once the Scheduled Events software is installed you will need to enable a WebView in the EntraPass software. 1) From the EntraPass workstation, under DefinitionGraphic, create a new graphic by clicking the New icon (see figure 4). Figure 4 a) Name the graphic with an appropriate name. For example Scheduled Events. b) Click on the Click here to create, edit, or modify a graphic button.
2) From the Assign Components graphic window, right click anywhere on the white section. 3) In the submenu, select Add Web page as background. 4) From the Display Web page window in the WebView: a) Leave the Login and Password fields blank. b) Enter the URL that will be used to access the Scheduled Events web page in the URL address box. For this you can use either the IP address, computer name or DNS address of your Kantech EntraPass server. Examples include: http://192.168.254.xx/scheduler http://yourcomputername/scheduler http://yourdomainname.com/scheduler c) Click the Save button. 5) Once the Display Web Page window is closed, you will be returned to the Assign Components window. Close the Assign Components window. 6) In the Graphic window click the save button. Graphic Desktop Definition Now you will need to define a graphic desktop. 1) Go the Desktops tab and right click on one of the unused desktops. a) From the sub menu, click on Properties. b) In the Properties window (see figure 5): Name the desktop appropriately (Scheduled Events, for example) Un-check all of the checked options. Check Graphic 1, 2, or 3 under the Graphic Desktop heading. Click the OK and GO button. Figure 5
WebView Selection: Finally you will select a WebView for the new desktop. 1. From the graphic window, right click on the white background. 2. From the submenu in Select Graphic choose the WebView graphic created earlier (see figure 6). Figure 6 3. Configuring Scheduled Events 1) From the WebView desktop, click on the Configure tab in the Scheduled Events software window (see figure 7) a) Change the SmartLink IP address if the SmartLink is running on a different PC than the Event Scheduler. b) Enter the username and password of a user that has an always valid login schedule and access to all devices. This will typically be the superuser. c) Set up the number of days to retain logs of executed events. d) Set up email notification if necessary. For this step you will need the name of your email server, typically smtp.yourdomain.com. e) Enter the license key provided when you purchased the software. f) Click the Save button. Figure 7
Upgrading EntraPass When upgrading to a newer version of EntraPass follow these steps after completing the upgrade process. 1. Stop the Event Scheduler service. 2. Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\System32 and copy the smart.dll file into the following locations: C:\Program Files\Event Scheduler\service C:\Program Files\Event Scheduler\smartdll\corporate C:\Program Files\Event Scheduler\web\Bin 3. Restart the Event Scheduler service. Troubleshooting If you receive a Web page not found or You are not authorized to view this page when trying to view the Scheduler, please try the following: Reset Internet Information Services 1. Launch the command prompt by clicking the Start button, then Run, then type command and press Enter. 2. At the prompt type iisreset and press Enter. Verify that default.aspx is listed as a default content page for the scheduler site installed on your PC or server 1. Launch the Server Management tool on your server (see note below for non-server operating systems). 2. Expand the Advanced Management menu by clicking on the plus sign. 3. Navigate through the menu tree until you reach Internet Information ServicesLocal ComputerWeb Sitesscheduler. 4. Right click on scheduler and select Properties from the menu. 5. In the scheduler properties menu, select the documents tab and verify that default.aspx is listed in the box below Enable default content page. 6. If the file isn t listed use the Add button to add the file.
Note: If Scheduled Events is installed on a PC, you will need to perform the above tasks using the Computer Management tool instead. The Computer Management tool can be reached by rightclicking on My Computer and selecting Manage from the menu. Reinstall the Scheduled Events software If you still receive the error, uninstall the Scheduled Events software using the uninstall program found in the C:\Program Files\Event Scheduler, then reinstall the software.
