2 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page 2 Before installing, if you are going to use SMTP for outbound faxing ( to fax), you must install the virtual SMTP Server service first. If you are going to use POP3, skip to section Install Microsoft Virtual SMTP Server This varies depending on Operating System. XP and 2003 Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components. Double click Application Server > double-click IIS > check the box for SMTP Service and 2008 R2 Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Features. Click Add Features, and check the SMTP Server. Windows 7 Windows 7 does not include SMTP Service so it cannot receive s via SMTP. POP3 must be used. In neither case do you want to install all of IIS, since the web server will default to use port 80, conflicting with NET SatisFAXtion web server. This will make NET SatisFAXtion fail to load. Upgrade Path Note: There is not an upgrade path from the current 8.6x and older gateways. Make sure you gather the information from the current gateway from your server s start menu - Programs - NET SatisFAXtion - SMTP or POP3 Gateway Setup. You should un-install the previous gateway before installing the 9.0x gateway. Configure Microsoft Virtual SMTP Server Administrative Tools > Internet Information Servers (IIS) 6.0 Manager Under Domains, right click on and rename the domain name to match the fax domain (for example fax.example.com).

3 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page 3 Right-click on the domain > properties. Make note of the Drop directory you will need it later (default is C:\inetpub\mailroot\Drop) Right-click [SMTP Virtual Server #1] > Properties. Go to the Messages tab. Modify the settings:

4 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page 4 Uncheck Limit message size Uncheck Limit session size POP/SMTP Gateway install Download and run NS- GatewayUpdate.exe. This will install the NS- Gateway.msi to your servers {InstallationDirectory}\wwwroot\downloads folder and update the MSI to connect to your NET SatisFAXtion server. Once the MSI has been updated and written to the.\wwwroot\downloads folder, you can install it from this folder. (Typically C:\Program Files (x86)\net SatisFAXtion\wwwroot\downloads) Your servers Launchpad website will also be updated with the new gateway.

7 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page Gateway Configuration Once installed, the first configuration screen comes up The URL to your fax server should be auto-filled. If there is a password for the Supervisor user, set it and click test connection. This is needed to create the SMTPPost system user for the gateway. Make sure you get a Test completed successfully dialog back. If the test does not complete, make sure the NET SatisFAXtion fax server service is loaded and that you can reach the URL from a web browser. If this step fails, solve this problem before moving forward or the gateway will not be able to communicate with the fax server. (See troubleshooting section)

9 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page 9 Select POP3 or SMTP Mode Select either POP3 or SMTP. If you are using POP3: Check Use a mailbox POP3 and click Next. (Section 1.3) If you are using SMTP: Check Route mail to this server using SMTP and click next (Section 1.4)

10 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page POP3 Settings (If POP3 was selected you will see this screen) POP Mailbox Enter the address, username and password Mail Server Enter the Server name or IP address of the POP mail server. If TLS security is needed, check this box and enter the port specified by the mail server. Typically port 110 without TLS, 995 when using TLS, but can be custom. Check with the POP mail server provider for the proper port Advanced Poll Interval (seconds): Default 65 seconds The default is set to 65 seconds because some mail servers will reject clients logging in and polling for new mail sooner than 1 minute. You can adjust accordingly.

11 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page SMTP Settings If only SMTP was selected, you will see this screen The Mail queue drop folder is read from the Virtual SMTP Server: C:\inetpub\mailroot\Drop Domain: The fax domain (for example fax.example.com). The same as you renamed the domain in the Virtual SMTP Server setup step.

12 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page Configure Gateway Options Cover page options: Default global options for cover pages: No Cover RTF Cover populated with message body text (default behavior of previous gateways) Send entire contents as the cover page Delivery / Non-Delivery notification options Send notification on successfully sent faxes Sent notifications on unsuccessful faxes Include the fax image in the notification Whitelist / Blacklist Options Fax only files with these extensions - Only allow the sever to convert the specified file types. Example, only allow *.RTF, *.DOC, *.PDF All others will be ignored by the fax server. Ignore files with these extensions - (use instead of the whitelist) Server will ignore all file types listed but convert all other files.

Users are created based on their return address and friendly or display name. This option unchecked, will send an rejection to a user if they do not already exist in the fax servers user list Inbound fax to delivery Notifications and Inbound Faxes Address: This will be the address Notifications and inbound faxes come from Display Name: This will be the Display or Friendly Name to identify the fax server the message comes from. SMTP Mail Server Specify the mail server or smart host the gateway will relay messages through Select TLS as needed and specify the proper TLS port for your mail server or smart host (likely either 587 or 465) Authentication Enter credentials needed for simple user authentication

Make sure you receive an to be sure all the above settings are correct. If the message is accepted by your mail server or smart host, the following dialog is presented.

There are several variable options and you can include any static text you wish, up to a total of 255 characters File Type: Select TIF or (if licensed for the PDF Converter) select PDF

16 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page Gateway Monitoring monitoring uses a simple SMTP send utility rather than the gateway to deliver your choice of critical errors and/or state changes in an message to NET SatisFAXtion administrators. This helps to assure critical message delivery should the gateway go down or is unable to communicate with the fax server or mail server. Gateway Monitor Notifications Enable or disable Monitoring. Mail Server Select the mail server to send alert messages to. This might be a different mail server than is used by the gateway itself. Limit repeat notifications to every: 120 minutes Set the frequency of error reporting for the same error. New errors will be sent immediately, then if repeated, will follow this rule. Configure Fax to Change server, TLS authentication settings, TLS port, Fax Attachment name settings, select TIF or PDF attachment type. 18 NET SatisFAXtion Gateway Installation Guide Page 18 Check the following: NET SatisFAXtion service is loaded If installing the gateway on a machine other than the fax server, test that you can get to the URL from a web browser (i.e. ) Logging To see the gateway logs, you can right click the Gateway loader icon in the system tray and select workflow manager, or select Monitor Workflows from the start menu (NET SatisFAXtion program group) To view the logs, click on the Log tab
