Harrison High School The Harrison Central School District Welcomes New Teachers Dr. Amabell Abbott Psychology Jesse Cersosimo English Dr. Abbott earned a Bachelor s degree in Applied Psychological Studies from New York University. She also holds a Master s degree in Bilingual School Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pace University. Dr. Abbott most recently served as a school psychologist in the White Plains City School District. Her prior experience includes serving as a psychologist in the East Ramapo Central School District and at PS 50 in New York City. She has also completed an internship as a clinical psychologist at Jacobi Medical Center. Mallory Cairo Social Studies Ms. Cairo graduated on the Dean s List from the College of St. Rose with dual Bachelor s degrees in Spanish and History, as well as a Master s degree in Secondary Education. Ms. Cairo is fluent in Spanish and recently taught social studies in a bilingual program at Hempstead High School. She has also taught 9 th and 10 th grade Global Studies at Bishop Maginn High School in Albany. This summer, Ms. Cairo taught US History in Harrison s summer school program. Lauren Carew Ms. Carew graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor s degree in Biology and a Master s degree in Adolescent Education from Adelphi University. This past year she taught middle school science at the Icahn Charter School in New York City, and she previously completed her student teaching in Biology at Floral Park High School. Ms. Carew has also served as a science and mathematics tutor. Mr. Cersosimo served as a leave replacement teacher at Harrison High School in 2014-15 and will serve as a parttime English teacher in 2015-16. He holds Bachelor s and Master s degrees in English, as well as a Master s degree in Teaching from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Mr. Cersosimo completed his student teaching at Wappingers Junior High School and Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park. Alicia Conte Spanish Ms. Conte earned a Bachelor s degree in Philosophy and Religion from Colgate University and a Master s degree in Spanish Education from New York University. Ms. Conte has taught courses ranging from Spanish I to AP Spanish at the Tuckahoe Union Free School District. She has also served as a part-time Spanish teacher in the Hendrick-Hudson and Chappaqua School Districts. Mario Deras Theater & Dance Mr. Deras will serve as a leave replacement theater and dance teacher during the 2015-16 school year. He graduated on the Dean s List from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor s degree in Theater, and he holds a Master s degree in Educational Theater from City College of CUNY. Mr. Deras has taught theater at the Mandell School, and he was a founding teacher of theater and dance at the KIPP Infinity School in New York City.
Katie DeSimone Marc Roberts Mathematics Ms. Desimone earned a Bachelor s degree in Social Studies Education from New York University, and she has completed course work at Mercy College to become certified in. Ms. DeSimone most recently served as a special education teacher with a specialization in social studies at the A.B. Davis Middle School in Mount Vernon. She previously served as a special education social studies teacher at the Alfred E. Smith High School in the Bronx. Mr. Roberts will serve as a leave replacement mathematics teacher for the 2015-16 school year. Mr. Roberts holds a Bachelor s degree in Mathematics from Ithaca College and a Master s degree in Secondary Education and from Mercy College. He served as a mathematics leave replacement teacher at Harrison High School during the 2014-15 school year and he has experience as a math tutor and lacrosse camp counselor. Deirdre McQuillan Business Dr. Sara Roth Psychology Ms. McQuillan earned a Bachelor s degree in Marketing and Management from Siena College. She also holds a Master s degree in Education from Durham University in the United Kingdom. For the past two years, Ms. McQuillan has served as a business teacher at the Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School in Brookville, New York, where she taught Business Principles and Management, Introduction to Law, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing. She was a Division 1 women s lacrosse player at Siena College. Dr. Roth graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor s degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She also holds a Master s degree and Doctorate in psychology from St. John s University. Most recently, Dr. Roth completed her school psychology internship at Pleasantville Union Free School District and Garden City School District. Her clinical experience also includes rotations at Coney Island Hospital and St. John s University s Center for Psychological Services. Shanan Mauro Health Ann Stanton Chemistry Mr. Mauro will serve as a leave replacement health teacher during the 2015-16 school year. He earned a Bachelor s degree in Psychology from the State 8/24/15 University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master s degree in Health Education from Hofstra University. Mr. Mauro has several years of experience teaching health education to middle and high school students in the West Islip Public Schools. He has also completed courses in educational leadership to become certified as a school administrator. Kristin Nazario English Ms. Nazario holds a Bachelor s degree in English with a minor in Philosophy and a Master s degree in English from Fordham University. She also earned a Master s degree in Secondary Education from City College. Ms. Nazario earned tenure in English at the Westchester Square Academy in New York City and the West Bronx Academy for the Future. She also taught International Baccalaureate English for two years at the International School in Genoa, Italy. Ms. Stanton previously served as a leave replacement chemistry teacher at Harrison High School and she will serve in this capacity again in the 2015-16 school year. She holds a Bachelor s degree in Chemistry from Russell Sage College and a Master s degree in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. Her prior experience includes teaching chemistry at Westlake High School and Dobbs Ferry High School. Amanda Urban English Ms. Urban served as a leave replacement teacher at Harrison High School during the 2014-15 school year, and she will continue in this capacity during the 2015-16 school year. Ms. Urban graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in English from Marist College. She is also pursuing a Master s degree in Theater from the City College of New York. Ms. Urban completed her student teaching at Lagrange Middle School and Marlboro High School, and she has served as a SAT tutor.
Louis M. Klein Middle School Christina Eveland Amy Anders Ms. Anders earned a Bachelor s degree in History and a Master s degree in from Nyack College. She recently served as a leave replacement special education teacher at the Louis M. Klein Middle School. Ms. Anders also served as a special education teacher at the Grandview Elementary School in East Ramapo and as a lead teacher at the Behavioral Health Center at Westchester Medical Center. George Baritis Mr. Baritis holds a Bachelor s degree in Chemistry from Dowling College, and he is currently completing his Master s degree in Liberal Studies at Stony Brook University. For the past two years, Mr. Baritis has taught chemistry and physics at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip. In this role, Mr. Baritis also founded and advised the Astronomy club and supervised the school s observatory. Debra Clampet Speech Pathology Ms. Clampet will serve as a part-time speech pathologist during the 2015-16 school year. She holds a Bachelor s degree in Communication from Wake Forest University and a Master s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from New York Medical College. For the past several years, Ms. Clampet has served as a part-time speech pathologist at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES. She also has experience delivering speech services to students at the Westchester Institute for Human Development and the Children s Rehabilitation Center in White Plains. Angela Diecidue Ms. Diecidue graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in Biological s and a Master s degree in Adolescent Education from the University of Buffalo. She recently completed a leave replacement position as a science teacher in the Louis M. Klein Middle School, and her prior experience includes completing her student teaching at the Eden Central School District and the Niagara Falls City School District in Buffalo. Ms. Eveland graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in Biology and Adolescent Education and a Master s degree in from Mount St. Mary College. She recently served as a leave replacement science teacher at the Louis M. Klein Middle School and previously completed her student teaching at Pawling Middle and High Schools. Emily Fiore Ms. Fiore graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor s degree in Spanish from Marist College, and she earned a Master s degree in English as a Second Language from SUNY New Paltz. Ms. Fiore has served as an ENL instructor at the Cambridge Institute in Poughkeepsie and as an adjunct lecturer at Marist College. She completed her student teaching in elementary and middle schools in Hudson and Kingston, New York. Stephanie Grace Ms. Grace holds a Bachelor s degree in Psychology from George Washington University and a Master s degree in Childhood and from Long Island University. For the past six years Ms. Grace has served as a special education teacher in the Bronx, where she taught in co-teaching and self-contained special education classrooms. Amy Ledden Physical Education Ms. Ledden holds a Bachelor s degree in Physical Education from St. Francis College, and she is currently completing a Master s degree in Health Education at Lehman College. For the past two years she has served as a physical education teacher in New York City. She is also a certified lifeguard and has coached basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. Kathleen Lorenzen Ms. Lorenzen graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in Social Studies and Adolescent Education and a Master s degree in from St. Thomas Aquinas College. Ms. Lorenzen most recently served as a special education leave replacement teacher at Irvington Middle School and previously served as a leave replacement special education teacher at the Louis M. Klein Middle School.
Teresa Fox Social Studies Stephanie Werner Social Studies Ms. Fox graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor s degree in Social Studies Education from the University of Delaware. She also holds a Master s degree in Secondary Education from Lehman College and a Master s degree in Counseling from Mercy College. She has nine years of experience as a middle school social studies teacher at MS 20 in the Bronx. Ms. Fox has also served as a teacher leader, a peer mediator advisor, and a debate team advisor. Chelsea Lorino Ms. Lorino earned her Bachelor s and Master s degrees in Earth and Adolescent Education from Hunter College. For the past three years, she has taught middle school science at the Frederick Douglas Academy II in New York City, where she has also served as the science department leader for the past year. Ms. Lorino has also completed the teacher leadership program offered by the New York City Board of Education, and she has participated in the Partnership Schools Consortium Summer Institute through Teachers College at Columbia University. Danielle Pace Art Education Ms. Pace served as a leave replacement art teacher during the 2014-15 school year and she will continue in this role during the 2015-16 school year. She graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in Fine Arts from Manhattanville College. Ms. Pace completed her student teaching in art at Fox Lane High School and Somers Intermediate School. She has served for the past year as a community educator through My Sister s Place, which provides workshops for students on bullying awareness and violence prevention. Danielle Racioppo Mathematics Ms. Racioppo will serve as a leave replacement mathematics teacher during the 2015-16 school year. She earned a Bachelor s degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master s degree in Teaching from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Her prior experience includes teaching Algebra at John Jay High School. Ms. Werner earned a Bachelor s degree in History and a Master s degree in Teaching from Manhattanville College where she was the recipient of the President s Award twice. She has served as a leave replacement social studies teacher at George Fischer Middle School in Carmel and at North Salem Middle School. She is also a member of the Phi Kappa Theta honor society. Harrison Avenue Elementary School Dr. Mistie Eltrich Psychology Dr. Eltrich will serve as a part-time school psychologist during the 2015-16 school year. She earned a Bachelor s degree in Psychology from Erskine College, a Master s degree in School Psychology from St. John s University, and a Doctorate in Psychology from Farleigh Dickinson University. Since 2010, she has served as a school psychologist for the Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES. She also worked as a school psychologist at the Gillen Brewer School in New York City. Thomas Garbarino Mr. Garbarino served as a part-time ENL teacher during the 2014-15 school year, and he will assume a full-time position in 2015-16. He graduated with honors from SUNY Binghamton with a Bachelor s degree in English Literature, and he holds a Master s degree in English as a Second Language from SUNY New Paltz. Mr. Garbarino has worked for the past two years as an ENL instructor at the Literacy Volunteers of America School in Danbury, Connecticut. He also completed his student teaching in ENL classrooms in Peekskill and Brewster. Sandra Gerardi Grade 3 Ms. Gerardi earned a Bachelor s degree in Business Administration from the University of Albany and a Master s degree in Childhood Education from Manhattanville College. She has served for four years as a second grade teacher at the Charter School for Educational Excellence in Yonkers. She has also worked as an instructor in the Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation in Yonkers for the past two years.
Meghan Hayes Parsons Memorial Elementary School Ms. Hayes will serve as a leave replacement special education teacher during the 2015-16 school year. She earned a Bachelor s degree in Childhood Education from the State University of New York at Oneonta, and she holds a Master s degree in from Manhattan College. She most recently served as the universal prekindergarten program director and teacher at the Bambini Preschool in New City, and as a substitute teacher in Clarkstown. Kristen Malesardi Grade 4 Ms. Malesardi graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in Childhood Education and a Master s degree in Literacy from Pace University. Her experience includes teaching fourth grade at the Saint Peter School in Danbury for three years, and Kindergarten for a year at the Success Academy in New York City. Ms. Russell has served as a lead teacher at the Hawthorne Country Day School in New York City, where she has taught students on the autism spectrum. She has also been a lead special education teacher at the Fred S. Keller School in Rockland. Erin Fitzgerald Elementary Ms. Fitzgerald earned a Bachelor s degree in Childhood Education and Liberal Studies from James Madison University. She also holds a Master s degree in Literacy and Childhood Education from Bank Street College. Ms. Fitzgerald will provide academic intervention services in mathematics and literacy and will collaborate with classroom teachers on instructional interventions for students. Kathleen Garrett Ms. Garrett holds a Bachelor s degree in Broadcasting and Film from Boston University and a Master s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Manhattanville College. Since 2012 she has served as a part-time ENL teacher in Bedford at the elementary and middle school levels. She also completed her teaching internship in the Bedford Central School District. Janet Goodman Ms. Goodman graduated on the Dean s List with a Bachelor s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Scranton. She also holds a Master s degree in and Literacy from Manhattanville College. She has served as a special education teacher in New York City since 2006, most recently as a co-teacher in 3 rd and 4 th grade classrooms at the Sarah Anderson School in Manhattan. Purchase Elementary School Shannon Fennell Ms. Fennell will serve as a 5 th grade special education co-teacher. Samuel J. Preston Elementary School Aindree Hamann Kindergarten Ms. Hamann holds a Bachelor s degree in Communication Studies and a Master s degree in Teaching from Manahattanville College. For the past two years she has served as a kindergarten teacher at the Carmel Academy in Greenwich. She has also taught pre-kindergarten students at the Gan Yeladim Preschool in Greenwich. Ms. Hamann completed her student teaching in Chappaqua and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Multiple School Locations Louis D Alessandro Technology Mr. D Alessandro earned a Bachelor s and Master s degree in Technology Education from The State University of New York at Oswego. He taught technology classes at Longfellow Middle School in Mount Vernon for five years. Mr. D Alessandro has also taught summer enrichment courses in agricultural science and has extensive experience in agricultural technology as a commercial farmer. Judith Zivan Ms. Zivan will serve as an ENL teacher at Harrison High School and Louis M. Klein Middle School. She holds a Bachelor s degree in American Studies from Yale University and a Master s degree in the Teaching of English as a Second Language from Long Island University. She has served as an ENL teacher at Monroe- Woodbury High School, where she also served as the program coordinator for the Family ENL Program.
