1 Andrew Shanock, Ph.D., NCSP Dr. Shanock has been teaching at The College of Saint Rose since He specializes in cognitive and academic assessment. He brings to the classroom his years of experience as a school psychologist in public, parochial, and charter schools within urban, suburban, and rural districts. Dr. Shanock's primary interest is the continued development and understanding of contemporary assessment techniques including the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) Cross Battery and Response to Intervention. He promotes an awareness of what cognitive abilities tests actually measure and how cultural and linguistic loadings can impact performance and interpretation. He is currently consulting with several districts in the Capital Region on the creation and implementation of Response to Intervention policies and procedures as well as the development of Instructional Support Teams. Access to Dr. Shanock's presentation handouts and slides can be found here. 5 Personal Interests Dr. Shanock, when he is not in his office, or thinking about assessment, his classes, or the state of school psychology, you can find him on the ball field playing some type of sport. Prides himself on having a wine collection that is to be enjoyed and not collect dust. Simply enjoys teaching with energy, passion and humor. Links of interest Intervention Central - A great resource to learn more about Response to Intervention (RtI) and progress monitoring IQCorner - The idea of this blog is to provide a up-to-date bridge between intelligence theory and the applied practice of intelligence testing. The primary interest is in the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) Theory of Human Cognitive Abilities. NY Association of School Psychologists (NYASP)- Official webpage of NYASP. Tons of great resources for future and current school psychologists. CONTACT INFORMATION Phone Office Madison Avenue, Albany NY - [email protected]
Here is what the Minds plan to discuss at the CASP Convention and the tentative schedule, which is subject to change:
