Step 7: emic-xm (the device) / EHS Monitor (the software s) main functions 7.1- emic-xm : : Corresponding to the symbol (on the screen control pad), which allows the user to select the desired function when using this button within the control box. : Corresponding to the symbol (on the screen control pad), which allows the user to select the desired function when using this button within the control box. (mute): output mute button (Volume Control): adjusts the hardware loudness of the headphones. This does not influence system software volume control.
(Microphone Sensitivity Control): adjusts the hardware loudness of the microphone. The system software microphone volume control is unavailable. 7.2- Decide which format you want to have Choose desired voice recording format inside the General tab at the top of the screen: Wav, Mp3, HQ Wav, HQ Mp3 MP3 is recommended due to its clarity and small file size (one minute of recording equates to 65-120 KB). 7.3- Apply button Ensure Apply button is pressed after each relevant function is chosen.
Only when the soft cap Apply is non-clickable, can the function you have chosen take effect. 7.4- Click or Hold down Inside the General tab, choose either the Hold down (press and hold) or Click functions. Click: click button to start function (recording); click button again to stop the function (recording). Hold down: press and hold the button to begin the function (recording); release the button to stop the function (recording). 7.5- Definition and use of the two emic buttons 7.5.1- Button Inside the General tab on the top, you can define for any of the following five
functions: For example, if the click function has been chosen, Rec. Click button to start recording and click button again to stop the recording the recorded audio file will be saved into the chosen directory (default directory is My Documents\Voice Messages ). Rec. and attach. Click button to start recording and click button again to stop the recording the default email client will be opened and the recorded audio file will be automatically attached into the new email. Finally, select the recipient and send the email message. Rec. and save to file. This function utilizes the same recording process as referred to above. When the recording is finished, EHS Monitor will prompt for the recorded file name and directory (default directory is My Documents\Voice Messages ). The file is then saved for future use. Rec. and upload. The encoding to mp3 and uploading to the server is being processed during the recording. After the recording is finished the link to the emic-message on the server is generated and immediately pasted into the window where the mouse cursor was at the beginning of the recording. Rec Skype/MSN. Records Skype, MSN, Windows Live Messenger or other VoIP software voice conversations. During the emic installation Skype and MSN will be automatically configured for this function to work. If you install Skype/MSN after the emic or if you use a different VoIP software for the voice communication, make sure that the virtual device
named emic Audio Filter 1 (Windows XP) or Mic 1 emic Audio Filter (Windows Vista) is selected as the input microphone and the virtual device named emic Audio Filter 2 (Windows XP) or Line 2 emic Audio Filter (Windows Vista) is selected as the output sound device in the settings of the Skype/MSN/VoIP software. Note: Rec Skype/MSN function is available for Windows XP and Windows Vista only Only Pitch-Filter can work with this function if Filter option is set. Undefined (Unused). Disable the button on the control box of the EPH-USB. This may be helpful if some other software also uses this button. 7.5.2- Button Same as 6.5.1 - Inside the General tab on the top, you can define button for any of the above mentioned six functions. 7.6 Filter
Sound filter allows you to change the voice making the recording, and makes it sound different. With this option set, before the recording is saved the selected sound filter will be applied to the recording. Only Pitch-Filter can work with Rec Skype/MSN function if Filter option is set.
7.7 Sound editor. When sound editor function is chosen, Sound editor screen will pop up after the recording for editing before proceeding to the next step (sending it out by email, uploading to the server, or simply saving it in the computer).
Note: After any recording is made the icon will appear in the Windows system tray for 60 seconds. If you double click on the icon, Sound editor will be opened. It is also possible to edit the recording with Sound editor using the button Edit from the Recordings page. other side hear me A: Please go to Control Panel to check your sound setting if the Speaker and Microphone s settings have been selected to USB Audio COEDC. 9.2. - Q: I am using hotmail and I choose the Record and attach function, why is it that my hotmail email client does not open after I have finished the recording? A: EHS Monitor s Record and attach function only supports the following default email clients: MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Note, Mozilla Mail, and Netscape. If you are using internet email clients such as hotmail, yahoo email, gmail etc, you ll have to set them into above mentioned five accepted email clients. 9.3 - Q: I am sure the sound setting is in USB for both microphone and speaker, but, I still cannot hear the sound. A: Please run EHS Monitor test wizard again: start\program Files\EHS\EHS Monitor\E-mail headset Test wizard
