2 GENERAL STUDENT INFORMATION REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION POLICY Registration for classes is conducted Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m., Thursday and Friday from 8:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Registration for LPN is conducted Monday Friday from 8:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. All fees must be paid at the time of registration and all registrations are accepted in the order received. To ensure successful completion of the course of study, students must meet course requirements and complete all enrollment procedures before being admitted to class. All adult students MUST have a high school diploma, TASC or GED. Those who do not possess a high school diploma, TASC or GED are referred to Adult Basic Education and must earn a West Virginia High School Equivalency Diploma before enrolling. All students must take the TABE exam to determine math and reading levels and their potential for success prior to admission. Students must achieve a 9 th grade equivalence in each TABE exam component before enrolling. Those who fail to achieve this level are referred to Adult Basic Education. Upon review, ACT/SAT test results may be accepted as well as post-high school certifications from other educational facilities. Students must meet with adult secretary to officially enroll. ADMISSION PROCEDURES 1. Complete the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Exam in the Learning Center (Room 128) and score a 9 th grade level or above in all four components of the test. 2. Students who do not meet the minimum academic requirements for their program must meet with the Learning Center Coordinator to discuss test results and available services. 3. Provide a copy of their high school diploma, TASC or GED. 4. Submit a completed registration form. 5. Submit a $20.00 non-refundable registration fee. 6. Complete and file a FAFSA and meet with our Financial Aid Consultant to review your financial aid eligibility. General enrollment for programs offered at the Cabell County Career Technology Center begins May 1-August 31 st for fall semester. Winter/Spring semester enrollment begins December 1- January 31 st. Enrollment dates and times vary by program. Please contact the adult secretary at for further details. Any additional program proficiency requirements are determined by the instructor. Adults enrolling in a day program that includes high school students will need to have a background scan and tuberculin skin test which is not included in the tuition and fees. Please see the attached 13 th Year Tuition Waiver for the qualifications for the CCCTC s own version of the Promise Scholarship. TRANSFERS The Cabell County Career Technology Center does not allow students to transfer from one program to another or from one institution to another with the exception of the Licensed Practical Nursing program which does allow transfers.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIZATION Adult Evening Program 1200 Hours Monday Wednesday 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Two Years Adults wishing to specialize in a particular component of auto mechanics or complete advanced training are candidates for Automotive Technology Specialization. This program deals with all aspects of auto mechanics including transmissions, air conditioning, fuel injection, and on-board computer controls. The Automotive Technology concentration focuses on careers that will build a knowledge base and technical skills in all aspects of the automotive industry. Students will have the opportunity to acquire hours towards certification and be exposed to skills to develop positive work ethics. Applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. Students are responsible for their own hand tools. ELECTRICAL TECHNCIAN- INDUSTRIAL Adult Evening Program 1300 Hours Two Years Evening- Mon-Wed 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. or Evening Tues Thurs 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Components of the Electrical Technician-Industrial program include theory, hands-on skills, and applications that qualify the student for entry-level employment in their certification level. Units of study include: Fundamentals of Electricity, Industrial and Commercial Wiring, National Electric Code, Residential Wiring, Industrial and Commercial Wiring, Integrated Electrical Lab, Rotating Devices and Control Circuitry and Fundamentals of Industrial and Equipment Maintenance. Applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. Upon completion of 1300 hours of Electromechanical Technology I & II, students will be able to take the WV State Fire Marshal s Test for their State Electrical Journeyman s License.

4 ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN ADVANCED Adult Evening Program 650 Hours One Year Evening- Mon-Wed 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. or Evening Tues Thurs 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. The Electrical Technician Advanced program is only available to students who have previously completed an electrical training program or currently possess a journeyman s license. Components of the Electrical Technician Advanced program include theory, hands-on skills, and applications. Units of study include: National Electric Code, Industrial and Commercial Wiring, Rotating Devices and Control Circuitry, and Fundamentals of Industrial and Equipment Maintenance. Applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. GRAPHIC DESIGN Adult Day Program Monday Friday 1080 Hours See Attendance Options Listed Below Graphic design is designed with the modern workplace in mind. The student assembles original art, photography, and texts to computer generated comprehensive layouts for display and publication. The program focuses on careers in a number of occupations requiring creative design such as web page designer, layout artists, logo designer, flash designer, illustrator, photo shop artist, and a multimedia designer. Internship may be done within the 1080 classroom hours. If space is available, adult students are permitted into the program. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. Option 1: Option 2: The student attends class from 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Monday Friday for two semesters. The student attends class morning or afternoon, depending on class enrollment, Monday Friday for four semesters. HVAC TECHNICIAN Adult Day and Evening Program 1200 Hours Day Program Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. One Year Evening Program Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Two Years Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is designed to provide students with skills to acquire employment and build a profitable career in the HVAC field. Students will study electrical systems HVAC, fundamentals of AC/Refrigeration, heating systems and domestic refrigeration. The course of study will give students knowledge in such areas as Ohm s Law and electrical circuits, tubing and piping, fabrication usage, window air conditioners, Domestic Refrigeration and Duct Systems, repairing heating and cooling systems gas and electric. Students will have the opportunity to earn NCCER certification for each skill set mastered. The students will be tested for EPA Refrigeration Certification. If space is available, high school students are permitted into the program. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above.

5 HVAC TECHNICIAN ADVANCED Adult Day and Evening Program 840 Hours Day Program Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. 8 months Evening Program Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. 10 months Students who enroll into the HVAC Technician Advanced program should have previously completed a HVAC training program or possess a HVAC certification. Students will study Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems. This course of study includes reach-in refrigeration, walk-in refrigeration; defrost systems, ice machines, EPR and CPR control valves, multi-compressor and evaporator systems, Students will have the opportunity to earn NCCER certification for each skill set mastered. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. INTERIOR DESIGN Adult Day Program 1080 Hours 10 Months Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Part-Time Adults High School 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. 12:00 noon 3:00 p.m. 20 Months 65 Credit Hours for A.A.S. Degree Monday Friday The Interior Design program is a cooperative effort between Mountwest Community and Technical College and the Cabell County Career Technology Center. Students earn their Interior Design technical training at the Career Technology Center and General/ Business Education courses through the Mountwest Community and Technical College. The program is designed for those who wish to seek employment in Interior Design or related fields. It provides students with principles and elements of design, design theory, and actual hands-on training through its internship component and community projects that are required for entry-level design positions. Although this is an adult program, it is offered to junior and senior high school students who wish to earn college credit while attending school. High school and adult students can earn 30 Mountwest Community and Technical College credits at the Career Technology Center. Upon completion of this course component, they may add 35 hours from the Mountwest Community and Technical College component to obtain the 65 hours associate degree. Each student will be a participating member of the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) student chapter #430.

6 LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSING (LPN) Adult Day Program Hours Prerequisites listed below Monday Friday 7:45 a.m. 3:15 p.m. One Year July to June The Licensed Practical Nursing Program is a one-year, full-time adult program, which prepares graduates to provide care in non-critical patient care settings. In critical care settings, the LPN becomes an assistant to the physician and/or registered nurse. Graduates are eligible for licensure by computerized examination (NCLEX- PN). Reciprocity (endorsement) is available by written application to other nursing boards. Students work under the direction of registered nurses and doctors. Licensed practical nurses work in many settings, including nursing homes and extended care facilities, hospitals, physicians offices, and private homes. Prerequisites: Eighteen years of age or older High school graduate or Equivalency A drug screen Good physical and mental health Satisfactory pre-admissions test scores A criminal background screen Required health exams: Physical exam Dental exam Immunizations (Hepatitis B and Tetanus) Tuberculin skin testing Program charges include the following: tuition, books, lab, exam fees, testing fee, background check, and tuberculin skin test. Uniforms, living expenses, transportation, graduation fees and a $ seating fee is the student s responsibility. MEDICAL OFFICE Adult Day Program 900 Hours One Year Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Recommended Keyboarding Rate of 30 WPM The Medical Office concentration is designed to develop student understanding and skills in such areas as the elements of medical office management knowledge and skills necessary in the business and marketing field. Successful completion of this program may lead to a Medical Administrative Assistant Certification (CMAA) from the National Health Career Association. Applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. Students participate in intensive units of study, which include medical terminology/coding/billing; Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; records management; office procedures; and data entry. In addition, students will participate in a comprehensive internship the last month of the program (8:30 4:30 M-F) at local offices and hospitals. Regular and punctual attendance is required for successful completion of all aspects of this program. Employment opportunities for graduates include hospital admitting clerk, unit clerk, or file clerk; front-end medical office assistant; administrative assistant; data entry operator; and more. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

7 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS HAVE FIRST OPTION IN THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS:* Programs are open to adults if space is available. AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY* High School Program 1080 Hours Two Years Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. First Year Monday Friday 12:00 p.m. 2:20 p.m. Second Year The area of study for this program is designed to provide students with the knowledge base and technical skills in all aspects of the automotive industry. Students will have the opportunity to acquire hours towards certification and be exposed to skills to develop positive work ethics. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. Instructional topics will include the following: Fundamentals of Automotive Technology Brake Systems Basic Engine Concepts Suspension and Steering System CARPENTRY* High School Program 1080 Hours Two Years Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. First Year Monday Friday 12:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. Second Year The area of study for this program is designed to provide students with entry level skills in general building construction occupations. In addition to basic safety; plan reading; use of tools and equipment; and other instructional topics will include the following: Drywall installation Cabinet installation Roofing Applications Thermal & Moisture Protection Floor Systems Wall & Ceiling Framing Students will have the opportunity to earn NCCER certification for each skill set mastered. Upon the successful completion of the course, the students receive a Vocational Certificate of Competency and can achieve a National Certification through the National Center for Construction Education Research. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above.

8 COLLISION REPAIR TECHNOLOGY* High School Program 1080 Hours Two Years Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. First Year Monday Friday 12:00 p.m. 2:45 p.m. Second Year This course begins with the basic fundamentals pertaining to Collision Repair Technology. Students become familiar with tools and materials for basic analysis and damage repair. Students will have the opportunity to acquire hours towards NATEF certification and be exposed to skills to develop positive work ethics. This course includes sheet metal repair, structural analysis and repair, surface preparation, sanding techniques and refinishing techniques using various systems. This course also introduces students to entry-level skills necessary in mechanical and electrical repairs as they apply to collision repair. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN* High School Program 1080 Hours Two Years Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. First Year Monday Friday 12:00 p.m. 2:45 p.m. Second Year Adult Day Program One Year Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. This course introduces students to the fundamental skills in all aspects of the Electrical Trades industry. Students will become familiar with the use of meters and other equipment used in the field of electricity and learn how to construct a variety of circuits. Students will be introduced to the National Electrical Code Bank. This course will also introduce students to basic circuits, devices and wiring techniques used in residential and advanced residential dwellings as well as special installation and characteristics of industrial and commercial wiring, conduit bending and installation. All wiring projects will meet the National Electrical Codes minimum standards. Students will have the opportunity to earn NCCER certification for each skill set mastered and be exposed to skills to develop positive work ethics. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. Upon completion of this 1080-hour course, students will be able to take the WV State Fire Marshal s Test for their State Electrical Journeyman s License.

9 MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY* High School Program 1200 Hours Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 noon 3:00 p.m. Adult Day Program 1200 Hours Monday Friday Two Years One Year 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. The Machine Tool Technology curriculum is designed to give students the opportunity to acquire the basic skills and related technical information necessary to gain employment and build a profitable career in the machine trades industry. Students will have the opportunity to earn NIMS certifications that are applicable to the trade. Measurement, blueprint reading, lathe and mill operations, heat treating of metals, and basic CNC programming and set-up are some of the areas explored. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. WELDING* High School Program 1080 Hours Two Years Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. First Year Monday Friday 12:00 p.m. 2:45 p.m. Second Year Adult Evening Program 1080 Hours Two Years Monday Wednesday (Adult Students register through Robert C. Byrd Institute ) High School students must have satisfactory WESTEST scores in Math and Reading. The goal of this program is to prepare the students for entry-level skills in the following welding process: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) Students are taught shop and personal safety, blueprint reading, and the basic skills to enter the work force. This course consists of actual skill performances in the welding portions listed above plus Oxy-Fuel cutting, brazing, and plasma arc cutting of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Students will have the opportunity to earn both NCCER Certification and the WV Welding Certification for each skill set mastered and be exposed to skills to develop positive work ethics. This program is certified by the American Welding Society. Adult applicants must take the TABE exam and score at 9 th grade level or above. *High School Program; Adults Accepted as Space Permits Some classes may require extra purchases by the students for their own supplies or tools to use during the program and to take with them. 11 ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE Adult Day Program Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Follows Cabell County School Year The English as a Second Language Program is open to all adults who are interested in improving their command of the English language. Over the years, this class has hosted students from over 25 countries, speaking more than 30 different languages. The curriculum includes the following subjects: American culture Life skills Reading comprehension Survival skills Grammar Oral communication/ conversation Study of English idioms Writing skills Also offered is preparation for the TOEFL, foreign student s college entrance test, ACT, SAT, GRE, and the TASC. This class also specializes in English Language Civics training to help students with preparation for the US citizenship exam and help with coping with all aspects of American Culture and Society. Both individual and group instruction is offered along with field trips to the Huntington International Club and other community points of interest. Several times a year, a social is held with students bringing various ethnic foods to share. The class is FREE with textbooks provided. TRAINING AND STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATION Adult Day High School Program Tuesday 11a.m. 3:00 p.m. Wednesday 2:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. Thursday 11 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Other days and times by appointment Huntington Mall Cabell County Career Technology Center The training/student services coordinator assists instructors and students with job shadowing, cooperative work arrangements, and school-to-work related activities. This assistance is designed to provide students with reality-based work experiences to sharpen their understanding of classroom learning and the world of work. The training coordinator assists adults as well as high school students. Cabell County area businesses can take advantage of workshops designed to improve the skills of their employees, increase productivity, and improve profitability. There are a variety of topics available and others can be developed upon request. Various workshops may include loss prevention, marketing, management, job interviews, resume, and job applications. Additional subjects may also be available including diversity topics, sales, and customer service. Please contact the Center for more information. The student services coordinator may assist local teachers, businesses, and employees regarding the above related topics. These services are designed to provide a successful future for students of the Cabell County Career Technology Center, Cabell County Schools, and area employees and businesses. Well-trained students and employees are among our greatest resources now and in the future.

TUBERCULIN SKIN TEST West Virginia State Law requires each adult day student to have the Tuberculin Skin Test before entering classes. Tests are administered at the Cabell Huntington Health Department.
