If a student goes on an official visit AND applies by December 15 they will qualify for a $5,000 visit scholarship each of the 4 years they re in college. Centenary continues to have an over 90% acceptance rate to medical school.

2 Fletcher Technical Community College Schriever, LA Spring priority application deadline November 23 rd Fletcher chartered the official Beta Tau Rho Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and inducted 40 members during the first semester. Fletcher has a new Patient Care Technician program which prepares the students for an entry-level position as patient care assistant. The program provides competency in the fundamentals of patient care and basic nursing skill, training in basic EKG and phlebotomy. For the second year, Fletcher received a grant from the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco Free Living. The grant allows Fletcher to host events that promote tobacco free living throughout the year. Grambling State University Grambling, LA Grambling State University has a new President Dr. Willie D. 3 Louisiana Delta Community College Monroe, LA We now have helicopter and agriculture flight training We will be opening a new campus soon in Jonesboro, La. We have a Music agreement with ULM to teach certain Music classes to our students on ULM s campus. Louisiana State University Baton Rouge, LA August 1: The online application opened for Fall 2016 or Summer October 1: Admission decisions begin releasing. November 15: Priority date to submit application for scholarship and Honors College consideration. April 15: Deadline to apply for the Fall 2016 or Summer 2016 semester without a late fee. May 1: Enrollment deposit due. Kickoff LSU Registration Now Open! Register at Kickoff LSU is a day-long, on-campus open house for high school seniors AND juniors and their families to get better acquainted with LSU. At this event, prospective students are given the opportunity to meet with two different academic colleges of their choice for one hour each, as well as participate in several tours and presentations throughout the day. There are 9 different dates from which students can choose to participate. The following are the Kickoff LSU dates: September 4 th, 18 th October 2 nd (Louisiana Students Only), 23 rd November 2 nd, 13 th, 23 rd March 4 th, 14 th First LEED-Certified Residence Hall Now Open LSU s new Residential College, Cypress Hall, is a leader in energy-efficiency as a LEEDcertified building with indoor-outdoor learning spaces, storm water recovery systems, interior bike storage rooms, energy-efficient mechanical systems, sustainable finishes, and solar demonstration systems. Cypress Hall will serve as the Residential College for the LSU College of Human Sciences & Education. This includes students majoring in the college s School of Education, School of Kinesiology, or School of Social Work. LEED, or

4 Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. LSU Computer Science Partnership with the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) and IBM To rapidly expand computer science education in Louisiana, the state has created an incentive package by contributing $14 million toward an initiative partnering LSU, IBM and LED. As part of this initiative, $9 million of this is coming to LSU to grow our Computer Science program. Through this partnership with LSU, IBM is expecting to hire approximately 800 Computer Science and Computer Engineering graduates within the next 5 years coming out of the LSU program. The funding will also help the University double our faculty size and upgrade our programs, such as our specializations in emerging areas of Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, and Digital Media, and the introduction of programming lab sections. LSU College of Engineering Complex Expansion and Renovation Through a $100 million public-private partnership, the College of Engineering has started its expansion as a state-led initiative to grow the number of engineering, computer science and construction management professionals in Louisiana. LSU's College of Engineering is committed to expanding its facilities to accommodate existing student demand and future growth. The expansion will include modern laboratory space for teaching and research, enhanced and expanded space for student services, updated graduate student space, an academic support center, dedicated capstone project space and other multi-disciplinary space for student projects. Louisiana State University at Eunice Eunice, LA LSU Eunice has one of the premier junior college baseball programs, winning their fifth national championship this past season. LSU Eunice and U L Lafayette have entered into a collaborative relationship specifically to facilitate the student referral and transfer processes for students who are issued a deferred admission to U L Lafayette. This program is call the Ragin Cajun Bridge Program!!!. Lastly our Health Care Management 2+2 program with LSU A which allows a student to complete a bachelor degree in Elder Care Management.

5 Louisiana Tech Ruston, LA Time Out for Tech will be on Saturday, October 3. Register on-line at Louisiana Tech s Nursing students had a 100% pass on the National Council Licensure Exam for RNs Louisiana Tech is expanding student internship opportunities in Engineering, Computer Science/Cyber Security and Business. Louisiana Tech just finished a multimillion dollar expansion to the South End zone of the Football Stadium. As well as an addition to the Business building has begun. In 2016, Louisiana Tech will start construction on a new Engineering building and new residential living opportunities. The rankings of the top 50 two-year colleges with enrollment numbers ranging from 2,500 4,999 are compiled by the education journal Community College Week. SOWELA s ratings were announced in the journal s December edition. SOWELA Technical Community College s Process Technology Fast Track Program was recognized with an Innovation of the Year Award by the League for Innovation in the Community College (League). The League is an international nonprofit organization comprised of 800 institutions and is dedicated to catalyzing the community college movement. SOWELA s Process Technology Fast Track program is designed to help those individuals that have already obtained an Associate s degree or higher, to attain the Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Process Technology within as little as one semester. At the conclusion of the 16-week program, students will have earned the credit requirements to be awarded the Associate of Applied Science degree in Process Technology. SOWELA Technical Community College now offers the Louisiana Transfer Degree Guarantee program that is designed to facilitate transfer from community/technical colleges to related baccalaureate degree programs at state universities in Louisiana. 11 University of New Orleans Get to Know UNO: UNO s Largest Open House, will be held November 21 st in the University Center s Ballroom Scholarship Deadline: January 15 th This year marks the 40 th anniversary of the University of New Orleans - Innsbruck International Summer School in Austria. Since its inception, more than 10,000 students have participated in UNO s signature study aboard program. The University of New Orleans welcomed our new Provost, John Nicklow, who began his tenure as UNO s chief academic officer on July 1. The University of New Orleans was recently named one of the world s top universities by the Center for World University Rankings as well as one of The Best 380 Colleges by The Princeton Review. Xavier University Xavier welcomes our new president, Dr. C. Reynold Verret. Xavier University now offers a new fitness center complete with regulation size basketball court, treadmills, cardio machines, and a walking/running track. There are also weight, dance and exercise rooms for student, faculty and staff use. According to a 2015 National Science Foundation report, Xavier now ranks third in the nation graduating African Americans who go on to obtain Ph.D.s in the STEM fields.
