2 NORTHEAST REGION OHIO SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION LESTER MARRISON TEACHER EDUCATION BOOK GRANT PURPOSE: This bk grant award is presented t a high schl senir in Nrtheast Ohi, whse schl district is a member f the Nrtheast Regin f the Ohi Schl Bards Assciatin (OSBA). The Nrtheast Regin, OSBA, is cmmitted t inspiring and encuraging capable teacher educatin candidates t serve the yuth f Ohi. The Executive Cmmittee f the Nrtheast Regin, OSBA, spnsrs this bk grant. This grup is cmprised f elected schl bard members frm thrughut Nrtheast Ohi, wh are interested in prviding supprt t high schl senir(s) wh have demnstrated an interest in teaching, and are attending an accredited Ohi cllege. The bk grant will be awarded annually and the recipient, alng with his/her parents, will be guests f the Nrtheast Regin, OSBA, at its annual cnference, typically held in Octber. Special recgnitin will be prvided t the district(s), bard members, and student(s). The award has been made pssible by the dnatins f bard members active in the Nrtheast Regin and frm prfits f regin wrkshps and fund raising activities. This bk grant was named in memry f Lester Marrisn, a lng time member f the Nrtheast Regin Executive Cmmittee and the OSBA Bard f Trustees. Mr. Marrisn had a passinate interest in teacher educatin, and it is in his memry that the Nrtheast Regin cntinues this award. SELECTION CRITERIA: Applicant must be a graduating senir currently enrlled in a schl district in the Nrtheast Regin f the Ohi Schl Bards Assciatin, and have plans t majr in teacher educatin at an accredited cllege r university in the state f Ohi. Applicant must have a 3.00 r greater grade pint average (GPA). Applicant must demnstrate ptential as an educatinal leader and cmpetent prfessinal; must demnstrate cmmunity invlvement and have evidence f gd character. Demnstrated financial need will be cnsidered in the selectin prcess. (cntinued)

The Nrtheast Regin, OSBA Award Cmmittee will review all bk grant applicatins and will cntact the winner fr recgnitin at the annual cnference held in Octber.
