5 The duties to be performed will be determined by the Trust in consultation with such Consultants as may be concerned. However, in certain circumstances (especially in services for which you receive a separate fee) you may not be covered by the indemnity. You are therefore advised that you maintain membership of your Medical Defence Organisation. Charges will be payable for services, e.g. board, residence, etc. provided by the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust, on such scales as the Department of Health may from time to time determine. A junior doctor must accept that he/she will perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in consultation, where practicable, with his/her colleagues both senior and junior. It has been agreed between the professions and the Department that while juniors accept they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptional and, in particular, the junior should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. There is no peripheral allowance payable in respect of this post. Owing to the vulnerability of people receiving health care, this post is exempt from the provisions of Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act Details of any criminal convictions you may have had must be disclosed. Failure to do so could result in dismissal. Annual Leave Core Trainees are entitled to leave at the rate of 5 weeks pro rata per annum to be approved by the Lead Clinician. 6 Conditions of Appointment The appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical assessment carried out at the hospital's own Occupational Health Department. The medical is on the basis of a questionnaire issued at the time of appointment to the post. This post has been identified as one involved with exposure-prone procedures. As such satisfactory Hepatitis B status is a condition of your employment with this Trust. You will be required to either undergo the immunisation process or produce written evidence of satisfactory Hepatitis B status prior to taking up this appointment. As this appointment may provide substantial access to children, a police check on convictions will also be necessary. Residence and Availability Registrar posts in this Region are considered to be non-resident but single hospital accommodation may be available if required. If you reside in hospital accommodation a deduction from salary for lodgings will be made in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service. Owing to the limited availability of accommodation at the Royal United Hospital, Licences are issued for an initial 6 months with review. The successful candidate will be expected to reside at a distance whereby he/she can satisfy the hospital that clinical commitments can be met on time. When standing by and in receipt of Additional Duty Hours payments, your availability must be such that you are as fully accessible as if you are on standby at the hospital. It is your responsibility to ensure that when on-call you will be available by telephone and able to reach your hospital in time to meet your clinical commitments. If you decide to remain in RUH accommodation after you have rotated to another Trust or General Practice, i.e. as part of the GPVT scheme or Medical Rotation, you will be expected to pay full rates.
